Here's more genres

  • First Person Shooter
  • Survival Horror
  • Visual Novel
  • Social Deduction
  • Educational Games

For the latter, Carmen Sandiego would be sick

What is a genre you don't hear people float as warranting a Smash Bros rep?
Auto Chess.

TBF, that genre's even more recent than Ultimate (and as such has not had a lot of time to coalescence) and most of the IPs in the genres are originally MOBAs (Auto Chess itself started off as a Dota 2 map before it spun off and became its own thing) so it's not surprising.

In a more conventional sense, more classic adventure / point n click games like Myst and Grim Fandango aren't talked about a lot either. True, that genre fell off the face of the earth for a while - but as both games' recent ports (incl. to consoles) prove there's still a viable audience.

I just checked, and so do Min Min and Steve, so it happens quite a lot. They don't appear in each other's routes though so they are definitely avoiding a scenario in which you have to fight a character you don't own. Also, Min Min fights herself instead of a Ninjara Mii or something so they're avoiding using Mii Costumes that you may or may not own as well.

Which means that the Heihachi stand-in will be Incineroar or Ganondorf or something and not a Heihachi Mii. Maybe the Mii will come into play for the Spirit Battle since there's already a precedent for that (but they've literally done it once despite having more opportunities to do it so just...maybe).
Or it could be Kazuya (you know, Heihachi’s son), since they both use the Mishima style martial arts.

Well it would certainly be...something.
Actually...As dumb as it would be, you could theoretically implement a character like this by making their Neutral Special a really powerful projectile. The catch? In order to shoot you have to spell a random word from a list of words containing only the letters A, B, X, Y, L, and R.

Or it could be Kazuya (you know, Heihachi’s son), since they both use the Mishima style martial arts.
...

Sssssssssssssshhh. No one must know of my shoddy grasp on Tekken knowledge.

Here's a fun little question
We know for sure Sakurai won't flat out reveal CP11 but he's bound to talk about it A BIT (generally)
What do we think he'll say, if anything?
Something like "Development for this fighter has just started/been going smoothly!" or "We think you'll love this fighter!"?

He'll say there's one more left and that's it.

When he brings up there's 1 last fighter left in Kazuya's presentation, I'm more than expecting him to say that it'll be the last Challenger Pack added to Ultimate and hopes everyone has been enjoying Smash.

Hack n Slash (outside of Dante)
Well that is probably because we have Bayonetta and that means that when the genre comes up a lot of us want to see Kamiya's babies fight. Baby fight! Baby fight!!! BABY FIGHT!!!

Tower Defense
That honestly seems like it would have a lot of potential as a very unique take on a campy zoner who is somehow more fun to fight than they have any right to me. I hate to suggest an EA franchise but Plants VS Zombies seems like a good basis?

- Idle games
Why do I just picture a rush down character where you have to stop and tap neutral B a lot in order to keep them powered up.

Let's see. I haven't seen anybody suggest a typing game rep or a text-based gaming rep.
That is a weirdly interesting concept, I wish I had some idea how to approach that in a way where swapping languages didn't completely unbalance them.

Social Deduction
Among Us? Or Daganronpan?

Not sure whether this means real social interaction or simulation. In either case I feel like both get discussed a decent amount.

Educational Games
What do you mean by this? Like Brain Training? I feel like if I could understand the specific game you mean I could better estimate what a representation would be like.

Auto Chess.
Is it weird to be excited to learn about the existence of a new genre?

I haven’t really seen many people other than myself advocate for a character from a Mosou game (Lu Bu or Date Masamune) or an RTS game (Kerrigan or Illidan/Arthas).

I'm playing the demo right now. I went from avoiding fights because I didn't understand how the attacks worked to actively going into battles because I'm having fun doing them. If I end up getting this game this would be the first the world ends with you I have played
Yeah the combat system is relatively unique.
I think it's a lot of fun. In the original game I also did that, I had a lot of fun with the battle system there. Same here. It's literally the start of the game so the beginning is mostly simple, but I can totally see a lot of potential for the battles based on what I've played.

It's very satisfying to make combos here, I think it's because of the sounds lol

Also, about peoole not talking about TWEWY, ive seen plently of people on my timeline on twitter talking about the game. In fact, when SE posted the final trailer, thats all that was on my TL
I meant Square Enix isn't really promoting the game. Fans are of course talking about it and are going to buy it no matter what, most of them (not my case because I played the first TWEWY for the first time months ago) have been waiting for a sequel since the original came out on DS. But Square has barely marketed the game. Like, it literally got 3 seconds of footage on their E3 conference.

I feel like they didn't make a great effort. I guess they assume fans will 100% buy it and maybe that's enough for them, but I don't think we're going to see another game for quite some time if the game doesn't surpass their expectations, tbh.

When he is discussing Mii Costumes he will point out the fact Tamagotchi has one but Digimon doesn't, and the way he does so will be believed by the community to heavily imply Digimon will be getting a Mii Costume alongside the Pokémon reveal they will be ending on.

Then we will find out we aren't ending on a Pokémon, but a Pokémon Trainer. As in a "side B is Bicycle, up B is Escape Rope" Pokémon Trainer

You say this, but summoner characters are consistently hated.
-See: JACK-O & Gargos.

I dunno, but I can't imagine that a character where the goal is to not play them would be very compelling.

I think a better way to word that would be:
”Regardless of opinions on the characters chosen, we only wish that people are respectful to each other”.

If we did get another Zelda rep...

It would be another incarnation of someone of the Triforce Trio.
(Link, Zelda and Ganondorf)
Wrong.
Who is the most iconic Zelda character introduced in Breath of the Wild? The first one we see and the one most associated with that game specifically?
Is it Link?
Is it Zelda?
Is it Calamity Ganon?

No.
It's BATTLE-TESTED GUARDIAN.

2014 "Shovel Knight" released today !! It was late 2016 when I came to Japan after being transplanted. The official reading is "Shovel Knight", but I was playing with the English version before that, so I just say "Shovel Knight". #Smash Bros SP

To clarify;
「ショベルナイト」 Shoberu naito - the official reading
「シャベルナイト」 Shaberu naito - how Sakurai says it

I’m cool with a Warriors character. Hopefully from Samurai Warriors since that’s the one I prefer. Pretty sure @Velveeta Dream was a pretty big champion for a Warriors character as well

A Guardian is unironically a character I'd love to see in Smash, and I also think it deserves to get in.

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
But Heihachi’s not a wrestler. So if anything, Incineroar would probably be a better stand-in for King, a luchador with a Jaguar mask.
I remember hearing either trailer footage or pictures actually use Snake for King, specifically in the leopard camo, which does make sense
**** the anime started already??
