So here's a fun thought experiment to do.

Smash Bros games are usually pretty good at giving returning franchises new content. In particular, the far majority of franchises get new music every game, barring retros sometimes. There are only so many times you can remix the Ice Climber soundtrack, for example.

Still, some non-retro franchises didn't get ANY new music in the transition from Smash 4 to Ultimate. NOTE: I'm including anything with an emblem that isn't a hardware stage. So stage only franchises count. These franchises include...

Kid Icarus
Punch Out!!
Bayonetta
Balloon Fight

On top of that, some franchises got new tracks, but no new remixes. These franchises include...

Star Fox
Sonic

What music tracks or remixes would you add to help these franchises out?
Of these, Bayonetta is the one I'd want to see more tracks for, as the franchise is missing some of its better music IMO

Gotta be honest, if we get a third party then, for me, that increases the odds of getting a Bandai Namco back a healthy amount - and if its dedicated to adding new genres then my hopes for Agumon or Mametchi jump back up.

The following are not a list of my faves, not a list of the most likely, but a rather a selection of characters who - after research and consideration - feel the most right for each of the genres that I currently feel might just have the most to add.

AgumonDigimonV-Pet
An offshoot of the other huge V-Pet Tamagotchi with one key alteration; fighting is fundamentally within their nature. Agumon has a lot of spin-offs to help flesh out their moveset.
ArlePuyo PuyoPuzzle
Technically Doctor Mario is already in the game, but as an echo he doesn't really represent his genre all that well. Arle has a lot of spin-offs to help flesh out her moveset.
Mamoru EndōInazuma ElevenSports
Even though I don't see the appeal of soccer games, I know of a lot of folk who (despite not liking sports, or growing up in Gaelic Football areas) love them. Endō packs some super-power into his soccer abilities and I must admit his nature as a goal-keeper seems like a great set-up for a unique style of edge-gaurding. Also, its about time Level 5 got someone.
ReimuTouhou ProjectBullet Hell
Bullet Hell seems like it might be an interesting basis for a character. Seems like the genre would probably lend itself to creating an amusing anti-zoner. Reimu has a lot of spin-offs to help flesh out her moveset.
Miu HinasakiFatal FrameHorror
The girl from Fatal Frame who the current Assist Trophy was actually searching for. Amusingly that sets up a creepy and disturbed parody for Pyra/Mythra's reveal trailer. That just seems like a lot of fun. Their style of weaponry is very different from most video-game protagonists which moves them further away from being 'action-horror' aesthetically.
ArisaShadowverseCard Game
Gonna be honest, I had to google a bit to come out with this one. Seems to be the biggest all-digital original-property card-game I could find. The genre seems like it could make for a very interesting, different, and fresh Smash Bros character. I also just find the genre kind of fascinating and routinely get tempted to try making my own before getting intimidated by how over-complicated I immediately get tempted to make it.

Honestly had to fight off the temptation to have Master Chief or Doom Guy because while I feel like they're very good picks, I recognise that Splatoon and Metroid Prime have both Competitive Shooter and First-Person Shooter covered, so its LESS urgent on that front BUT also extremely warranted for a variety of other reasons.
I don’t think Samus should count as a FPS rep. Her moveset was created before the Metroid series stepped into the FPS genre. She doesn’t really represent any of the conventions of the genre. By that logic, Mario would count as a sports rep.

I’d also say that Inkling covers Third Person Shooters. They may seem similar to their First Person counterparts but they play differently enough to be pretty distinct for fans of the genres.

For Punch-Out, I'd:

-include the version of the jogging theme heard in the beginning of Mac's Smash 4 trailer cause it sounded like it slapped
-Add the Major Circuit and Head-to-Head themes from the Wii game
-Add all the boxer themes from the Wii game, including Doc Louis' theme, but not Donkey Kong's
-Do a medley of the circuit themes from Super Punch-Out since most of it is the same brand of standard SNES rock

Bada bing bada boom, Punch-Out has, like, 23 tracks now

I am not saying there aren't huge distinctions; just that when approaching it from a focus on sheer genre diversity with the wildest variety that I felt uncomfortable superseding those other genres with it.

Trying to be a bit more creative with speculation atm, what are the odds the last character is Maxwell from Scribblenauts?

Well the first thing we need to look at for that is "what are the odds of a Warner Bros character" then we need to cross compare their franchise with other Warner Bros franchises.

The first alternative from them that comes to mind is Mortal Kombat but we really should probably think of a more complete list to get a full analysis going.

What did Nomura do to you to illicit such a reaction? I get Advent Children is very divisive and Kingdom Hearts isn't for everyone, but still.

Also, FFVII Remake is in my opinion the best thing to happen to Final Fantasy in a long time and he was it's director, at least for Part I.

Yo who is dat? I can read half of the text on his sword. And it says
سيف الفارس
The knight sword
I feel like Ubisoft was using Google Translate when writing this. Alfaris feels like a word you're more likely to use when talking about a European knight.

Also, why not call his sword shamshir if he's Persian?

I really love Nomura’s older character designs like Sephiroth,Vincent, Squall, Lulu, and Xemnas but he can get a little carried away as a director. A lot of his stories are overly complicated and I dislike the fact that they refuse to make another turn based Final Fantasy. I agree Kingdom Hearts has a pretty dumb story but the gameplay is a lot of fun and many of the original character designs are great. FFVII and FFX are among my favorite games ever (although FFIX is my number one favorite and he had no involvement in that). FFVII Remake was also a lot better than I was expecting. I still prefer the original but both are great in their own way.

Bayonetta:
-You May Call Me Father
-The Greatest Jubilee
-Gomorrah - Devourer of the Divine
-Punch-Out!!
-Valor - In Courage and Gallantry
-Alraune - Whisperer of Dementia

(I feel like Bayonetta 2 really got short-changed in the music department)

For Punch-Out, I'm not sure - maybe they could have added the menu music from Super Punch-Out? Something like the Major Circuit Title Defense track could work, though it's a remix of the main theme.

For Sonic, I feel like a bunch of classic tracks could get remixes - Sky Sanctuary, Chemical Plant Zone, Ice Cap Zone, Casinopolis Zone, Death Egg Robot, Big Arms... Not sure how well they'd mesh with the stage, but not all of the tracks mesh with their respective stages anyway. (and I'm surprised we didn't get something like Chemical Plant Zone as a new stage)

I'll have to look into music from Star Fox, Kid Icarus, and Balloon Fight (both what's in Smash and in general) to see what seems to be missing.

I’m cool with a Warriors character. Hopefully from Samurai Warriors since that’s the one I prefer. Pretty sure @Velveeta Dream was a pretty big champion for a Warriors character as well
I still am. I got Support Threads for Zhao Yun and Lu Bu on my signature.

Honestly, I've been like a Crash fan thinking a Dynasty Warriors character will come next throughout every Challenger Pack in Vol 2 and now we're down to just 1 pack remaining. It could still be them, but after all this time, I'm far more certain CP11 will have to be a character from a fresh new game that released after Three Houses, whether if it's a character that recently made their debut like a Gen 8 Pokemon or Zagreus or a character from an already existing franchise that recently got a new title/entry like... actually idk who'd be super likely for that. Spelunky I guess?

I wonder how long it will be before people get bored of Kazuya. Doesn't the honeymoon. For Smash characters last like a week?
A super technical like Kazuya, no matter how good or fun, ain't going to be alot of peoples cup of tea.

So probably not too long, but I say it shouldn't matter much, since what's going to be really telling is how far his metagame will be pushed in the long run, assuming he has all the right tools to do so while still being, you know, fun to play.

I think a Dynasty Warriors character is more than deserving of a place in Smash but maybe Nintendo or Sakurai is hesitant based on the fact that they are based on real people. I think they are exaggerated unique enough to basically count as original characters, kind of like CastleVania’s Dracula so I would be totally fine with it. Lu Bu would make for an awesome and really unique Smash fighter and he’s among my most wanted.

What’s the 4X genre?
4X, an abbreviation of Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate, is a type of strategy game that involves building an empire, developing its technology, economy, and military while competing with other empires. The goal is to come out on top, with victory conditions including destroying the other empires, allying with them, and getting a diplomatic victory (such as being elected the leader of an international/intergalactic council). The games can be either turn-based or real-time, as well as have either a historical setting or an outer space setting involving many sentient alien species.

Examples of the game include Master of Orion and Stars in Shadow. I'd suggest buying the reboot of MOO for a high-quality and polished experience; on the other hand, Stars in Shadow is an indie game that is still in development after its release, and though it sometimes takes a long time to progress due to budget and funding, it's still a great game to play (plus, the creators are quite active on Steam, and interact a lot with players on the forums; you can even learn about some planned lore from the dev's forum comments, too).

Just curious
I recall there being a thread made for E3 2021 so that we could discuss the newly revealed content live at the time.

Do you guys do similar things for Sakurai Presents streams?
I joined in Mid-may, so I don't know.

We usually talk about it in the thread for the character that was presented.
