Anyone who’s been tracking this whole thing wanna condense the 15 WoL slots vs 31 ????? Slots again?

There are 3 dummy slots for World of Light's CSS, since it updates separately from the main CSS. The game can handle up to 91 fighters on the CSS.

There's currently 6 dummy slots left, as far as I know. Last I heard was when Terry or Byleth released. 78+5=83, so there's about 8 spots left on the CSS before the game would crash.

But IIRC it's less than 100.

In theory they COULD add slots any time, they did that with Dragon Ball FighterZ pre-season 2 iirc

They'd have to change how the CSS works so it can handle more than 5 more after FP2.

I think he just rubs people the wrong way with his short, definitive statements that somehow both sound like a response to previous statements and completely disregards them. It just kind of leaves you going "thank you Riley, very cool".

Still though. "Are you ever positive" is a bit much, especially saying it every time he posts.

I initially misread this and thought that this was a request to add Tessa. I'd be disappointed, but I don't care for her all that much.

She also appears in the Super Mini Street Fighter game, as well as I believe SNK Vs Capcom Chaos.

I think he might be talking the Character from Red Earth I believe, a Game Capcom made

Ayup. She's a magician who uniquely treats magic as a science rather than some invisible force for them to manipulate or a special ability like traditional wizards do.

If you're interested, this arcade run seems to show off what she can do. I personally prefer a different Red Earth character.

EDIT: Also, this run could include the bad ending, I didn't watch it so I'm not sure, but it seems like each character has a good and a bad ending.

A lot, but it would make sense for a new one to happen soon if MercurySteam is making it. They haven't released a game since 2017.

God I hope, Mercury Steam are more than capable for the job. I’d be interested in seeing how Samus Returns artstyle is done on the Switch.

When the Switch launched we didn't even know about the previous 2D Metroid, but it has been a while.

This is from June 2019, and has lined up pretty well so far.

Fwiw, WarioWare is another game that has been rumoured about for a long time. Part of the "shifted development from 3DS" club with a few other titles, some of which have materialized since.

One such title is the FE remake, which is also among the five in that recent tweet.

Honestly, I don't think being of western origin matters much. They've proven it can be done (3 times no less), so issues would be with the developers themselves rather than the fact that they live in a different time zone.

I'm not counting on it, but if we did my guess would be someone like Tracer honestly.

But in general I think Steve will be our sole western character this pass. It's still not exactly the "norm" but yeah, the barrier is no longer there. I just believe Nintendo has more incentive to pick Japanese characters and promote Japanese series and companies based on the pool of characters we could be seeing.

Plus, Banjo had twenty years worth of intense fan demand + that special Nintendo connection on his side, and Steve being from the most popular game in the entire world... yeah, those are some big acts to follow. I still kinda feel like if we get another they have to have a pretty substantial worldwide presence.

Alright, so I’ve started replaying Earthbound in preparation for Mother 3 (Had no clue there was a fan translation). It made me really want Porky. So I’ve come to ask since y’all aren’t as biased as me in this instance, Is there any hope for him? At least as a stand-alone.

I'm not sure about a Capcom rep (if there'll be any), but i'm pretty convinced this guy will be in Fighter Pass 2 alongside Loyd's mii costume:

Pac-Man is the only Bamco rep right now and i'm pretty optimistic there'll be another, they're holding Lloyd costume for a reason. This guy won as the most popular Tales Of character in multiple official polls, so i can easily see him being their choice. Also, Tales is as big as DQ in Japan.

Edit: Yuri was so popular, he was taken off of polls just so that other characters could win.

If Activision somehow gets involved in Smash, I still think Crash Bandicoot is the most obvious choice from their list of franchises for a Smash roster candidate.

I'd personally add

1. Crash as a Fighter
2. Sora as a Fighter
3. A proper All-Star
4. Garden of Assemblage in WoL, where you can fight every boss in WoL for the best times in the following ways:
   • Tackle each one individually at your own leisure
   • Take on all of them at once in a proper boss rush
5. Spirit Events for:
   • Dead Rising
   • The World Ends with You
   • Angry Birds
   • Captain Commando

Sans. At least, I believe Toby Fox is a westerner.

And if the Cuphead costume is a separate deal, then that would count too.

As does the Fallout costume.

The Ubisoft costumes too since Europe is technically a western country even though it's more in the middle.

Mii Costumes are less involved than characters, but I'd imagine the issues in getting the agreement in the first place are the same. With all these examples, I don't think the logistical difficulties are so bad that Nintendo would limit themselves to one character per pass, and they've already been collaborating with more than just Microsoft for other things, even going as far as negotiating with western devs like Digital Extreme for just Spirits.

To be real, no, not really. Some people have put a lot of stock into him not being a spirit, but at the end of the day it's still getting another, third Mother character. Let alone as DLC.

The silver lining, which people probably won't see as such because it's at the point where it's taken for granted, is, nevertheless, that the Mother series has quite a bit of representation as it is for a series of its stature.

Porky's biggest merit within the speculation scene is that his spirit is missing, but as time went on we've come to realize that he's probably meant to be in the Absolutely Safe Capsule as a gag and that spirits don't matter. Very unfortunate, but Mother is pretty well-represented outside of some weird music omissions, so it isn't so bad.

I see. That does bump it up by four though, not one. Plus you also have Yacht Club with the assist.

Anyway I agree it's possible we might see another but I get why Nintendo would still opt to work more with the Japanese devs (though it's only a matter of time before things skew more equally), so I'd be surprised if the total western count in the pass exceeded two.
