With E3 coming up in the next few weeks, I'm going to write down my ideal picks for the last two Challenger Packs. I sincerely doubt that they'll both make it in (it's very rare that Smash ends this sort of speculation period on what's generally accepted to be a high note), but I figure I should put my ideas down in one place, and if either of them does get in, I want to see how close I get.

These packs could go in either order, so that part doesn't especially matter.

Dante (Devil May Cry)

Stage: Temen-Ni-Gru

Spirits:
-Dante (Fighter Spirit)
-Vergil (Legend) (a blue Dante with Killing Edge on Temen-Ni-Gru)
-Nero (Ace) (blue Corrin who uses a lot of grabs on Arena Ferox (Battlefield))
-Trish (Ace) (black suit Zero Suit Samus with lightning bolts as items on Kalos Pokemon League)
-Lady (Advanced) (white suit Bayonetta (or Mii Gunner if you have the costume) with a Super Scope (and lots of explosives drop) on Unova Pokemon League (Omega))
-Mundus (Ace) (giant metal Charizard on the lowest level of Castle Siege)
-Kyrie (Normal) (red Lucina with blue Corrin as support on Temple - defeat the main fighter, who avoids conflict)
-Credo (Normal) (white outfit Dark Pit on Palutena's Temple (omega) - enemy's final smash charges quickly)
-Nico (Normal) (orange Bayonetta on Shadow Moses Island - projectile items spawn)
-V (Advanced) (male Robin on Reset Bomb Forest - the items are all assist trophies and Pokeballs)
-Phantom (Advanced) (three red Bowsers of increasing size (mini, normal, giant) on Find Mii (omega))
-Nelo Angelo (Ace) (white haired Ganondorf who doesn't flinch easily on Spear Pillar (omega))
-Urizen (Ace) (giant blue Ganondorf on Reset Bomb Forest)
-Lucia (Advanced) (red Sheik on Fourside who mainly uses neutral special)
-Morrison (Normal) (KO the main opponent, a Mii, on Luigi's Mansion to win - Dante is protecting him)
-Sparda (Legend) (a purple Dante with an extremely high-level AI on Final Destination)

Music:
-Public Enemy (DMC1)
-Ultra Violet (DMC1)
-Mundus Battle Theme (DMC1)
-Shoot the Works (DMC2)
-Assault (Infested Chopper Battle) (DMC2)
-Devils Never Cry (DMC3)
-Vergil Battle 2 (DMC3)
-Lady Battle (DMC3)
-The Time Has Come (DMC4)
-Swipe of the Sword (DMC4)
-Devil Trigger (DMC5)
-The Duel (DMC5)
-Bury The Light (DMC5)

Mii Costumes:
-Vergil (Swordsman)
-Nero (Gunner)
-Lady (Gunner)
-Viewtiful Joe (Viewtiful Joe) (Brawler) - comes with Joe the Hero
-Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia) (Swordsman)
-Balder (Bayonetta) (Swordsman)

Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)

Coco Bandicoot
is included in Crash's Challenger Pack as a bonus echo fighter.

Stage: Time Twister (could be used to take players to a few different locations throughout the series, between N. Sanity Beach, Cortex's castle, and levels like the High Road, Hog Ride, and Out for Launch, though the Battlefield and Omega versions would stay in the main lobby)

Spirits:
-Crash Bandicoot (Fighter Spirit)
-Coco Bandicoot (Fighter Spirit)
-Tawna (Ace) (Zero Suit Samus on Pirate Ship, whose grabs are powered up)
-Dingodile (Advanced) (K. Rool who mainly uses neutral special on Distant Planet)
-Aku Aku (Legend) (Crash, who has a Back Shield and occasionally turns invincible, on Jungle Japes)
-Polar (Normal) (small white Donkey Kong on Summit - Banjo would make more sense, but from what I recall, Challenger Pack spirit battles don't use DLC characters aside from the one that they're included with)
-Purah (Normal) (small Incineroar with increased movement speed on Kongo Falls)
-Penta Penguin (Normal) (three small Dededes on Summit)
-Nitros Oxide (Advanced) (green male Inkling with increased speed on Venom)
-Ripper Roo (Normal) (Lucario on Green Hill Zone, where lots of explosives drop)
-Tiny Tiger (Advanced) (Incineroar who mainly uses grabs on Coliseum)
-Nitrus Brio (Advanced) (Luigi, who is replaced with K. Rool once he's defeated, on Unova Pokemon League)
-N. Gin (Advanced) (Wario on Lylat Cruise, where lots of Sticky Bombs spawn)
-N. Tropy (Ace) (blue-skinned Ganondorf on Time Twister - Stopwatches spawn often, and after a certain amount of time, Bayonetta spawns in to reference the female N. Tropy from It's About Time)
-Dr. Neo Cortex (Ace) (Dr. Mario with a Ray Gun and Jetpack on Time Twister)
-Uka Uka (Legend) (Dr. Mario, with a Back Shield, on Brinstar, where Daybreak and Dragoon pieces spawn often)

Music:
-N. Sanity Beach (Crash Bandicoot 1)
-The Time Twister (Crash Bandicoot 3)
-Cortex Battle (Crash Bandicoot 1)
-The High Road (Crash Bandicoot 1)
-Hog Ride (Crash Bandicoot 3)
-Out For Launch (Crash Bandicoot 4)
-Warp Room (Crash Bandicoot 2)
-Snow Go (Crash Bandicoot 2)
-Rock It (Crash Bandicoot 2)
-Dingodile Theme (Crash Bandicoot 3)
-Crate Balls of Fire (Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex)
-Crash Compactor (Crash Bandicoot 4)

Mii Costumes:
-Dr. Cortex (Gunner)
-Aku Aku (hat)
-Uka Uka (hat)
-Spyro (Spyro the Dragon) (hat)
-Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight) (Swordfighter) - comes with Strike the Earth! (Plains of Passage)
-something random from a platformer game like Tostarenans from Super Mario Odyssey

I love this actually, I wonder how every series in Smash would be represented if it was through a challenger pack only. I bet this version of Mario would be a lot more gimmicky too lol

Character: Lara Croft

Stage: Croft Manor

Music:
Main Theme(Remix) (Plays during reveal trailer)
Path of the Stars
Creation and Destruction
Trinity Pursuit
Ruins at Cozumel
Innocent Death
Exploring the Island
A Survivor is Born
Croft Manor Theme
Bear Theme

The spirit board will be her friends from the series, her father himself, some of the Villans, and maybe even the Doppelganger

Her Classic Mode would be called "It belongs in a Museum" where she fights characters who use a ancient artifacts such as Shulk's Monado, Sonic's Chaos Emeralds, Or Link Zelda and Ganondorf's triforce

Here is her Mii Costume wave:
Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Chrono Trigger: Chrono(Swordfighter)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright(Brawler)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Kingdom Hearts: Sora(Swordfighter)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Fortnite: Jonesy(Gunner)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate x Hollow Knight: The Knight(Deluxe Swordfighter)

Well, here's my two cents with a bit of a weird pick...

Fighter: Beat, from JSRF - though I'd in this case give him alternate costumes with other characters from JSRF instead of just palette swaps. All of them here would have a similar body type, but different voice lines as needed. They are as follows:

Beat (Yellow)
1627750636640.png
Gum (Green)
1627750678628.png
Corn
(Blue)
1627750713698.png
YoYo (Cyan/Turqoise)
1627750741746.png
Garam
(Orange)
1627750765828.png
Jazz
(Black)
1627750821539.png
Rapid 99 (Pink)
1627750866819.png
Noise Tank
(Silver-Grey)
1627750904619.png

These alts are basically handled like Bowser JR's, though as mentioned, with alternate voice lines. They also have different coloured spray cans, which are the colours beside the character there. None of the alts have any gameplay differences. Also, their victory will have a randomly selected one of the Jet Set Grooves play.

Stage: Whilst there's a variety of locations that could work from JSRF's Tokyo-To, I whittled it down to two, and eventually to a single one - Shibuya Terminal. Despite being the third level in JSRF, the area has become pretty much synonymous with JSRF as a whole, perhaps most notably in Sega Superstars Tennis. Whilst it may be a run-off stage, the bus shelters act as platforms and buses sometimes drive through and stop, acting as more platforms. There's also a stage hazard in the form of Hayashi and various police members in tanks.

Various JSRF characters not represented in the alts will skate through the background too, usually doing tricks - these include Roboy, Combo, Soda, Boogie, Cube, Pots, members of Poison Jam, and Zero Beat - amongst others.
1627750586852.png

Now for the music, and my goodness this is a good place to start. I will try to get a variety of JSR, JSRF and a couple of bonus tracks too!

JSRF
  • The Concept of Love
  • Fly Like a Butterfly
  • Funky Dealer
  • Shape Da Future
  • Teknopathetic
  • Sneakman (Toronto Mix)
  • Grace and Glory (B.B.M.H)

JSR
  • Humming the Baseline
  • Let Mom Sleep
  • Sweet Soul Brother
  • Electric Toothbrush
  • Rock it On

Ollie King
  • Boarder 70
  • Let it Go
  • Too Fast
  • Teknopathetic (80's Mix)
  • Concept of Love (Concept of Passion Mix)

Sega Rally 2
  • Slippin'
  • Evolution

Sega Rally 2006
  • - Boosted

Beatmania
  • - LUV CAN SAVE U

Dead Heat Riders
  • - Keep it 2gether

Do bear in mind, some of these may not be able to make it in and there's probably going to be some remixes too. I wanted to avoid just splurging tons of SEGA stuff, so I kept it to Naganuma's works. However, I would like to make a suggestion. In the Shibuya Terminal stage, it's actually possible to select a random "medley" of JSR and JSRF tracks, but in the format of a radio station hosted by DJ Professor K himself, occasionally providing a brief outlook on the battle between songs. Not sure if they'd actually go that far, but I totally would!

Spirits: In this case, the spirits would likely represent different characters from JSRF and JSR alike, with the JSR versions being able to be evolved to JSRF. They are as follows (though in no particular order)

  • Gum (JSR, evolves to JSRF)
  • NT-3000
  • Garam
  • Corn
  • Combo
  • Rapid 99
  • Noise Tanks
  • Hayashi
  • AKUMU
  • Golden Rhinos
  • DJ Professor K
  • Beat (JSR, but can be purchased from the Shop)

And, last of all, Mii Costumes! Well, here's the basic ones (yes, there's quite a lot here hehee):

  • SSBU X Jet Set Radio Future - DJ Professor K (Mii Brawler)
  • SSBU X Space Channel 5 - Ulala (Mii Brawler)
  • SSBU X Burning Rangers - Shou Amabane (Mii Gunner)
  • SSBU X Streets of Rage - Axel Stone (Mii Brawler)
  • SSBU X Space Harrier - Space Harrier (Mii Gunner)
  • SSBU X Golden Axe - Gilius Thunderhead (Mii Swordfighter)
  • SSBU X Samba de Amigo - Amigo (Mii Brawler, deluxe-esque appearance)
  • SSBU X Vectorman - Vectorman (Mii Gunner, deluxe-esque appearance)

And a couple of hats:

  • SSBU X Ristar - Ristar Hat
  • SSBU X Super Monkeyball - AiAi Hat

Just for fun, buying all of the Mii Costumes in the pass gives you bonus music associated with all the characters, as follows:

  • JSRF: Oldies but Happies
  • Space Channel 5: Giant Evila Space Dogfight!!
  • Burning Rangers: Burning Depths
  • Streets of Rage: Go Straight Dual Remix
  • Space Harrier: Space Harrier Main Theme Remix
  • Golden Axe: Golden Axe Medley
  • Samba de Amigo: Samba de Janeiro
  • Vectorman: Vectorman Medley
  • Ristar: Shooting Star - Planet Flora Remix
  • Super Monkeyball: Jungle

And, just for fun, let's toss in a deluxe Mii costume for this too:
  • SSBU X Lethal League Blaze - Candyman (Mii Swordfighter)
With bonus music track, Ain't Nothing like a Funky Beat!

Personally this is an absolute dream for me. More SEGA representation is always good, and with JSRF being my favourite game of all time, I might just die if Beat was the last pick. Of course, this is unlikely - there's way more likely reps of course, and I went a little mad on the Miis - but that's just my own take on this!

Lets do a fighter pack for a 4th party rep not any old one but a Chara from the forefathers of Modern Fantasy!
(i tried finding any sort of art a i just use this)
Frodo Baggins soldiers on! And i too! signed Samwise Gamschie!
Most of the basic attacks are sword attacks performed by Sting and sams Pan (yeah its more of a Movie thing but it fits into smash so yeah)
Grab: Sam ropes up the opponent and frodo pokes him with Sting
B: Legolas shoots up to Three arrows
Side B: Aragon makes a Jump Attack with Anduriel
Down B: Gimli jumps up and smashes down using his axe on both sides!
Up b: Gandalf summons an eagle carrying Frodo and sam
Final Smash:
frodo is about to throw a smash ball into Mount doom he cant bring himself too the hit player grabs it dances and falls of the Edge

Stage: Middle earth its a plattform based stage that goes over the cloud (on eagles) travels fast and then decends onto:
Shire
Weathertop
Rivendell
Rohan
Helms deep
Minas tirith
Mount doom
and the Grey havens

Music:
Hmm thats tough the only music is the one from the movies so maybe the Sonmgs sung in the books? Or LOTR onlines themes?

Mii costumes:
Gimli
Legolas
Aragorn (king)
Gandalf
Hobingen Hobbit Outfit
Ork Armour
Nazgul Attire
And Barahdur Helmet

Spirit Board:
Merry and pippin: Ice climbers Shire
Legolas = Botw Link Rivendell
Gandalf = (there arent any old good wizards in smash so yeah) Gandalfs mii (magic or Sword type) Grey havens
Ork Army= 20 Miis wearing Ork armour
The nazgul= 9 Miis wearing Nazgul atire the last one is big and golden
And sopme more (its getting late!)

Shadow Echoes Pack

Shadow (Sonic)

Impa (Zelda) Echo fighter for Sheik. Slightly heavier and slower, with more kill power. Since there are so many variations of Impa in Zelda history, she could have the most costumes in the game with 4 colors for each.

B - exploding shuriken. Hold special to delay explosion.
Down B - create a shadow clone, press again to erase. The clone mirrors your normal attacks extending their reach, but also extends her hurtbox. Any non-projectile damage/knockback to your clone will mirror onto you. Projectiles go through the clone.
Side B - reposition clone forward or backward.
Some normals replaced with blade attacks.

Echo fighter for Ganondorf, ironically more viable. Samus weight. Faster, less knockback/damage.
B - throws lightning orb that can be reflected by normal attacks, including his own.
Up B - opens a portal where directed, from which he emerges riding his war horse. On hit spikes or buries the opponent. The horse vanishes after a few seconds or upon performing any action. 5 second cooldown.
Some tilts and aerials become trident attacks (Byleth range). All smashes replaced with trident attacks.
Hold jump to float. Everything else is the same.

Black Shadow (F-Zero) Idk anything about this character, but assume he could fit as a Cpt Falcon echo.

Stages:
[/SPOILER]

You dont fight shadow in City escape!
Hm it's been so long since I played SA2 I misremembered. It would still be a good stage fitting the shadows theme, but maybe there's a better stage for Shadow.

Alright, here's my attempt on making a Challenger Pack for SNK's most iconic villain (who started the "SNK Boss Syndrome"), Fatal Fury's main villain and Terry's arch-enemy, Geese Howard.

A tagline idea came from Megadoomer, particularly my favorite for many logical, clever reasons.

Fighter: Geese Howard
  • Neutral Special: (Quarter-Circle Forward + Attack/Special for normal/double variants)
  • Forward Special: Ja'ei Ken (Half-Circle Back)
  • Back Special: Fudou Ken (Quarter-Circle Back)
    • Neutral B - A (a lunging double-palm to the cut)
    • Side B - Un (an overhead kick)
    • Down B - Ba (a leg sweep)
  • Up Special: Hisho Nichirinzan (Dragon-Punch)
  • Down Special: Atemi/Raimei Goha Nage (depends on the attack position; Half-Circle Forward)
  • Super Special Moves (at 100% or 1/3 of Stamina):
    • Raging Storm (Down-Back, Half-Circle Back, Down-Forward)
    • Deadly Rave (Quarter-Circle Forward, Half-Circle Back; press the button rapidly for more damage to simulate follow-ups with the final input being Quarter-Circle Backwards for a ki blast)
  • Final Smash: Rashomon
Geese has his appearance from Art of Fighting 2 as his alternate costume, taking up the last slot. Terry also has his latter four alts replaced with his "Wild Wolf" outfit from Garou: Mark of the Wolves (which also changes a down taunt and victory poses when used like Byleth's) once you download Geese's pack with an alternate Fighter Spirit.

Stage: Geese Tower
  • The stage takes place in a rooftop of the building. like in the original Fatal Fury game and first Real Bout title, with various design elements from the series' other installments in a background lane section such as:
  • To simplify your thoughts, the background would be almost like a combination of Real Bout Fatal Fury and Tekken 7 versions with afore-mentioned details.
  • Players can be knocked off of the tower by breaking the balcony akin to Mishima Dojo's walls, though they will reassemble itself after a minute and players can grab ledges.
  • Has a lane-switch mechanic akin to Jungle Hijinxs, players being able to switch between balcony and background room sections by performing a spot dodge.
  • Various villains from both Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series make their appearances as random cameos in-front of a statue at the non-lane background's middle such as:
Additional things for King of Fighters Stadium, Terry's stage, are that new cameos are added like Mai Shiranui, Benimaru Nikaido, Leona Heidern, K', Kula Diamond, Shun'ei, Ash Crimson, Hotaru Futaba, Gato, Marco Rodriguez, B. Jenet, Tizoc, etc. And Geese's cameo will be replaced with someone else when you play as him in this stage.

Music:
Like in Terry's pack, Geese's tracklist also brings up lots of SNK and Neo Geo-related songs, sharing both tracklists between stages akin to Final Fantasy music on Midgar and Northern Cave.
Spirits:
I can't decided on ranks, so I only added fighters representing characters.
  • Mai Shiranui (Red B1 Bayonetta)
  • Robert Garcia (Blue Ken)
  • Raiden (Blue Incineroar)
  • Billy Kane (Default Eight with a Killing Edge)
  • Tung Fu Rue (Blue Ryu)
  • Duck King (Yellow Sonic)
  • Blue Mary (Red Female Wii Fit Trainer)
  • Rock Howard (Brown Terry)
  • Ryuji Yamazaki (Black Wolf with a Reflect status)
  • Wolfgang Krauser (Ganondorf)
  • Rugal Bernstein (Red Ridley - obviously a Legend-class)
Mii Costumes:
  • Rock Howard (Fatal Fury/Garou: Mark of the Wolves - Brawler)
  • Kyo Kusanagi (The King of Fighters - Brawler; uses his design from The King of Fighters XV)
  • Haohmaru (Samurai Shodown - Swordfighter)
  • Kaede (The Last Blade - Swordfighter)
  • Marco Rossi/Fio Germi (Metal Slug - Gunner; male/female options akin to Team Rocket Grunts)
Trailer References:
This is just an additional thing I thought on writing down, even though I'm not planning to make a full one.
  • Most of the trailer's CG cutscenes, such as Terry and Kazuya's fight, are based on the three Fatal Fury OVAs released in the 1990's and some elements are borrowed from Sephiroth's trailer (considering that Geese works as an another villain, who's a second rep of the series).
  • At the beginning, Terry (with the help of Ryu and Ken as stand-ins for Andy Bogard & Joe Higashi respectively, though both are easily overpowered unlike him alone) and Kazuya are seen fighting each other, as both are basically the "foils" to each other.
    • Both are the faces of their franchise and wear primarily white and red.
    • Terry is much more upbeat in contrast to the more stoic Kazuya, as he was happily adopted by Jeff Bogard, while Kazuya wishes to kill his own father, Heihachi, after he threw him into a ravine as a child.
    • Terry is a good father to his adopted son Rock Howard, while Kazuya's son Jin wishes vengeance upon his father.
    • Finally, both fighters have a bad habit of having their main enemy fall from a larger height, though this is accidental with Terry (especially in Real Bout Fatal Fury) and very much intentional with Kazuya.
  • Just when Terry and Kazuya are about collide with their Buster Wolf and Devil Fist (in Final Blaster's devil form) moves, a black figure suddenly appears in a blink between them and slams the ground hard to summon light pillars from the sky (with a camera shown far from the battle and a large crater left on the ground), referencing various scenes from the OVAs, such as Raging Storm's usage (pillars) and Power Geyser (at afar) respectively, with the former also being based on the move's appearance in The King of Fighters '96.
  • With the aftermath, Terry is seen kneeling with his hat on the ground before he looks at Geese, growling at him when he reveals himself to him, Ryu & Ken with a laugh (while stepping on Kazuya's body, grinning and crossing his arms), like in the opening of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special and their special fight intro animation.
    • During this, the remix of "Soy Sauce for Geese" begins with a traditional Japanese instrument version of "Dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun-dun", and at the moment Geese's tagline comes out, a more intense, heavy metal rock version starts playing.
  • Geese saying "I've been waiting for you. Now, you pin-headed Smashers can just die!" references his infamous quotes towards Terry and Heihachi in the Fatal Fury series ("pin-headed" part coming from Special) and Tekken 7 respectively, even performing a Double Reppuken at the screen to slice it in half for gameplay footage.
    • After this, a "flute" part (with both instruments) at 0:30 will play as Geese's gameplay montage starts up.
  • Geese posing with Heihachi in Mishima Dojo references the former's guest appearance in Tekken 7 and their rivalry with each other (among similarities) in a reveal trailer.
  • Geese in his Art of Fighting 2 costume, performing Deadly Rave on Mii Brawler with a Ryo Sakazaki costume, references the move's debut in a same game and how it works similarly to Ryo's Ryuuko Ranbu.
  • A CG cutscene which has Geese laughing while falling off is based on the iconic death scene from Terry's ending in Real Bout Fatal Fury, while the next scene (in which he has a Nightmare form-alt) references his appearance as a secret boss in the following game, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special.
  • The final CG cutscene which involves Geese using Rashomon to send Terry flying through a balcony and watches down as he falls off his tower while saying "Stay down, maggot.", referencing the continue/Game Over scene of Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, where he jump-kicks the player (either Terry, Andy or Joe) off the building and one of his victory poses in Tekken 7, though in this case, Terry manages to survive by hanging on a lower ceiling down from the rooftop while holding his own hat with the other hand, unknown to him.
EDIT: Added trailer references on the end of a spoiler tab.

Heck, I know that fourth-party characters has no chance in making it into Smash, but I still wanted to make this considering how much I love fighting games and Marvel comic books. It also would be a great timing as Maximillian Dood's campaign was made aware by Digital Eclipse, Capcom and Disney themselves. (this was made for Champion of Hyrule Champion of Hyrule and Mr. Robotto Mr. Robotto )

This challenger pack will be based mostly on X-Men: Children of the Atom to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, with some aspects borrowed from Infinite, but not majorly.

Fighters:
To reflect upon Marvel vs. Capcom's three-member tag team mechanic, the player can swap between Spidey, Cap and Wolvie similarly to Pokemon Trainer (Ivysaur/Squirtle/Charizard) and Pyra & Mythra by pressing the Shield Special, being labeled as separate characters despite sharing a same slot.
  • Shield Special - Swap
  • Dodge (Spider-Man/Captain America) - Spider-Sense (works similarly to Mythra's Foresight)/Cartwheel
  • Rapid Jab (Wolverine) - Berserker Rage
  • Side Tilt (Follow-Up; Wolverine) - Cross Claw
  • Dash Attack (Wolverine) - Sliding Claw
  • Down Smash (Wolverine) - Berserker Slash
  • Neutral Air (Follow-Up; Wolverine) - Brutal Claw
  • Down Air (Captain America/Wolverine) - Anti-Ground Kick/Diving Kick
  • Grab (Spider-Man) - Web Zip (works as a tether recovery)
  • Back Throw (Spider-Man) - Web Throw
  • Neutral Special: (Quarter-Circle Forward)
  • Side Special: (Quarter-Circle Back)
    • Spider-Man - Web Swing
    • Captain America - Charging Star
    • Wolverine - Drill Claw (can be aimed in 8 directions before performing a move, similar to Sephiroth's Octaslash)
  • Up Special: (Dragon-Punch)
  • Down Special: (Half-Circle Forward, except Wolverine's)
    • Spider-Man - Spider Cannon (from Infinite)
    • Captain America - Liberty Shock (parries an upcoming attack and can deflect projectiles back at opponents; from Infinite)
    • Wolverine - Berserker Charge/Mutant Healing (increases Wolverine's stats for a short period of time with a long cool-down; a latter comes from X-Men: Children of the Atom, but is nerfed for fairness)
  • Hyper Combos: (a unique meter is seen close to a damage percentage, which can be filled by damaging opponents with extensive combos and performed by doing below inputs & pressing both attack/special buttons at the same time)
  • Final Smash:
All three has separate Fighter Spirits and their own alternate palettes (that can be changed separately from others), which reference their costumes straight borrowed from the Marvel vs. Capcom series, such as Symbiote Spider-Man, U.S. Agent and Bone Claw Wolverine (from Marvel vs. Capcom 2).

Stage: The Daily Bugle
  • The stage is based on it's variants from both Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
  • Takes place in New York City, between the rooftops of the Daily Bugle and a neighbor building, which stretches from side-to-side similarly to Bridge of Eldin from Brawl, with several buildings (such as Baxter Building), banners, large parade balloons and a helicopter flying in the sky with J.J. Jameson inside appearing in the background.
  • In the middle of the stage, there's a spider web which connects the two buildings, and functions as a trampoline similarly to Pac-Man's Up Special, able to sustain ten jumps before breaking. If a fighter breaks the trampoline, they won't be put into a free-fall state, but a gap will be created and players will be KO'd if they fall down on it.
    • It will reform above the gap after a minute has gone, though.
  • Various Marvel characters, who were playable in the series, will make cameo appearances in the background:
    • Iron Man
    • War Machine
    • Hulk
    • Deadpool
    • Thor
    • Hawkeye
    • Doctor Strange
    • Ghost Rider
    • Rocket Raccoon
    • Iron Fist
    • Cyclops
    • Storm
    • Gambit
    • Rogue
    • Jean Grey/Phoenix
    • Venom
    • Shuma-Gorath
    • Blackheart
    • Sentinel
    • M.O.D.O.K.
    • Doctor Doom
    • Magneto
    • Juggernaut
    • Thanos
After some time has passed, Onslaught (who is the final boss in Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes), will appear into the stage by teleporting in and declaring "Know my name and fear it, I am Onslaught!", pretty much acting as a stage boss/hazard like Yellow Devil in Wily Castle. He is about three times the size of a heavyweight fighter and his attacks can hit hard & cover a lot of range.
  • Teleportation - Onslaught is able to nigh-instantly teleprot from one part of the stage to another, similarly to Mewtwo's Up Special.
  • Flaming Headcrush - Onslaught declares "Face my wrath!" as he charges forward, attacking fighters with his body, hitting them 7 times on contact.
  • Hyper Gravitation - Onslaught fires four bursts of green energy that fly towards opponents. Upon contact, the opponent is trapped in the energy and pulled towards him. They can only escape by mashing the button repeatedly.
  • Hyper Mind Blast - Onslaught exclaims "Know my pain and anger!" as he unleashes a giant blue blast, which covers the whole stage. The beam hits about 15 times, and each hit does 2% damage (amounting to 30% in total).
  • Magnetic Shockwave - Onslaught laughs and thrusts his hand down, causing several pillars of energy (up to 9 beams) to travel forward from the ground, with the each beam's impact launching a fighter into the next beam.
When defeated, Onslaught will fade into balls of blue energy that fly off-screen.

Music:
Spirits:
I decided to focus mostly on Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes for this one, with Thor added in, as he's one of the most prominent Avengers and Deadpool, cause why not?
  • Iron Man (Orange Mega Man with Black Samus as War Machine)
  • Hulk (Dr. Mario as Bruce Banner, then Green Bowser who prefers fist/smash attacks and Down Special) when a former is KO'd)
  • Thor (Male Robin who prefers Neutral Special and Invisible Pikachu using Down Special to assist him)
  • Gambit (Brown Joker with Green Zero Suit Samus as Rogue)
  • Psylocke (Purple Sheik)
  • Deadpool (Mii Swordfighter with a Deadpool Costume and Ray Gun)
  • Venom (Symbiote-alt Spider-Man - doesn't change into Captain America or Wolverine during the spirit battle)
  • Shuma-Gorath (Green Dark Samus)
  • Doctor Doom (Green Ganondorf with Ray Gun; a item references one of his aerial attacks and a photon special move)
  • Blackheart (Black Ridley)
  • Magneto (Red Sephiroth with a Metal Box status and Item Gravitation)
  • Thanos (Purple Ganondorf with a Sudden Final Smash - Legend-class)
Mii Costumes:
  • Iron Man (Gunner; has alternate color options based on his other armors, like Bomberman)
  • Hulk (Brawler)
  • Deadpool (Swordfighter)
  • Gambit (Swordfighter)
  • Thanos (Brawler)
  • Amingo (Brawler)
For trailer references, we're clearly going to include those based on iconic Marvel comic book stories, arcs and media, but mostly Marvel vs. Capcom, since that's the inspiration of this challenger pack.
EDIT: For hypothetical pluses/+'s on a potential inclusion.
  • Sora's brought up, so Disney's sort of in.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom was referenced in Mega Man's Up Tilt (Mega Upper), Ken's flashier version of his Shinryuken Final Smash and Ryu's conversation via Palutena's Guidance.
  • Marvel was interested for a potential crossover, as claimed in a interview.
  • Sakurai's probably aware of requests surrounding Marvel characters, so he mentioned Iron Man on a 4th-party deconfirmation alongside Goku for Ultimate.

A personal favourite pick of mine - despite not being as popular as other picks from his series (most notably Porky, Ninten and Giegue/Gigyas,) I think he'd be a really interesting pick due to his sheer potential!
Basic Information
Fighter Name: Starman
Series of Origin: Mother
Game of Origin: Mother (1989)

1634238110365.png

Moveset
Neutral B: PK Beam

Starman is able to fire two types of this attack depending on the input. A quick tap will result in PK Beam γ, whereas holding it will charge PK Beam Ω. These attacks originate from the head of the Starman, with a halo-esque effect similar to his Assist Trophy appearance when firing the beams in question.

γ - A quicker shot, it auto-targets a foe in a similar way to Palutena's Neutral B. It only does a light amount of damage, but it's possible to tap up to 5 times in succession to fire five shots out, each one moving toward the position the closest fighter to Starman is at at the time of the input.
Ω - Upon being held, Starman will charge it up - with it acting a bit like Thoron or Failnaught at full power, being able to pass through fighters and the like. Interestingly, Starman actually takes extra damage if this move is reflected on him. The move is most powerful at full charge, but is still a force to be reckoned with if not fully charged - though interestingly, it'll do a flat amount of damage until fully charged, at which point it can keep the charge active as with moves like Samus's Charge Shot.

Side B: PK Fire
Being blue in colour, this PK Fire is different to that of Ness and Lucas - specifically, it doesn't really act as a projectile like theirs, but more like Terry's Power Wave. Travelling along the floor, it's possible to catch fighters in it - at which point, the flinch damage that's done by the attack can drag them along its path, though the fire diminishes in size as it gets further away. Using it in the air will have the fire in question travel at a low angle, but as soon as it hits the floor, it'll act like his grounded PK Fire. It's a solid midrange pressuring option, though won't do for launching.

Up B: 4D Slip/PSI Teleport
4D Slip is what's used on the ground when Up-B is inputted. Working similarly to other teleport moves, 4D Slip is interesting in that it can only be used on the ground - holding left or right will have you teleport in front of, or behind, your original location - with the specific distance being determined by the angle at which you hold your stick. However, unlike most teleport moves - 4D Slip actually has very little endlag, allowing it to be used for surprise attacks if you so desired. Here's the list:

Side: You'll teleport 2 "units" in that direction.
Down-Side: You'll teleport 1 "unit" in that direction.
Up-Side: You'll teleport 3 "units" in that direction.
Down: You'll teleport in place.
Up: You'll wind up in the air above you slightly higher than the height of a shorthop, and still have your double jump spare.

(A "unit" is essentially around half the length of one of Battlefield's platforms.)

On the flipside, PSI Teleport is what's used in the air. Unlike 4D Slip, it has a balanced amount of endlag which is slightly more than that of Mewtwo's Teleport - though slightly more range, and the ability to act after using it (though PSI Teleport can only be used once when airborne.) Essentially, it acts as your bog-standard teleport Up-B.

Down B: PK Shield
PK Shield is the dreaded projectile counter, though in this case it's quite different than any other character's. Taking the form of a sort of hexagonal pattern, it's manifested in front of the Starman, meaning it's unable to protect from behind. Then, it begins to move forward - more like the Aegis Reflector used by Urien in Street Fighter III. Even whilst moving, it's possible to reflect projectiles with it, but it blocks physical attacks as though it were an invincible fighter (notably, however, it doesn't counterattack in any way, and it is also intangible, meaning fighters can pass through it freely.) After a predetermined amount of time, the shield dissapates, and Starman cannot use the attack until the PK Shield is gone. Interestingly, despite the fact that PK Shield can't protect Starman's back, both sides of the shield itself are equally reflective - and of course, the Starman is able to fire projectiles through the Shield freely.

Notes
General Animations: Starman's own body takes the form of the traditional one, even in the Final Starman skin. Interestingly, it has a metallic look, but has the consistency of liquid - appearing like liquid mercury. As a result, some moves can have its "tentacles" move freely around its body, as well as the Starman being able to evade attacks both by melting into goop and by teleporting. Also, particularly powerful physical attacks such as fully charged Smash attacks or moves such as the Falcon Punch will actually bring up the SMAAAASH!! effect as seen in the original titles. This doesn't, however, apply to projectiles.

Stage
Stage Name: Cave of the Past
Game of Origin: Earthbound (1994)
Gimmicks: Atomic Power Robots will sometimes appear on the stage when Stage Hazards are active - they don't attack players, but if they reach 40% damage, they violently explode with around the same force of a Bob-Omb. The stage itself transitions from The Cliff that Time Forgot to the Cave of the Past as the match starts, and doesn't transition back.
