It is silly. That's why it's awesome.

I also have no idea why it's doing that. It made me laugh though.

It's the thing at the end, the =t368 or whatever. It sets the time equal to that second, which is 6:08

Oh, and in the earlier post, I meant no smash at pif, not just no pif

Melee is like sex.

First you approach the opponent, teasing him out of his defenses: this is the foreplay. ("That ain't Falco!")
Then you combo him with a rhythmic sequence of attacks: this is the sex. ("Oh, oh, oh, oh!")
And then you kill with a satisfying finisher: this is the orgasm. ("Ohhhhhhh! My **** hurts!")

You could carry the analogy further. Consider the gimp kill: it's like a premature ejaculation. Now you might object that a premature ejaculation embarrasses you (ex: ****ed in my Pants) whereas a gimp kill is more of a pleasant surprise. True. But you're only embarrassed because it disappoints your partner. In another situation, like if you ate a grape in the privacy of your room and for some reason couldn't contain yourself, it would be a pleasant surprise. Wouldn't it be awesome to orgasm whenever you ate a grape?

(Sometimes, I orgasm just by reading an anti-Brawl pro-Melee topic. But that's only because I'm an arrogant elitist. You regular folks who play Brawl will never know the joy...)

Of course, if every kill were a gimp you'd miss the joy of a great combo. And if you zoomed from zero to climax every time you bedded someone, you'd get bored fast. So my analogy still holds.

Also, you know how some people are hot and make good love? Notice how they're more popular? It's that way in Melee, too. Jigglypuff approaches and combos the same every time and her kills are anti-climatic (unless she uses Rest, but then she falls asleep, and that's a problem), whereas Captain Falcon delivers colorful combos that escalate into an electric climax. No points for guessing whom we prefer.

The point, though, is that a Melee match builds up and releases just like sex. And that's why we love it. Does this analogy still hold forth in Brawl? How does it feel to play?

Put simply: Brawl lacks combos. So it's all foreplay and no sex and that's just cruel.

At its best, Brawl maintains an intense energy as you dance and dash, poke and peck. And it feels good. But as the match draws on you begin to tire; will this gameplay ever advance or must I play footsies forevermore? When will we stop making out and start hooking up? All this sexual tension finds no release and eventually it feels so pointless that even the kills feel like necessities rather than rewards. And that's Brawl at its best. At its worst, Brawl fails to titillate at all. Eight minutes of camping and tornadoes make bad sex and even worse pornography.

(This stands in contrast to real life, where eight minutes of camping and tornadoes would make bad sex but very interesting porn.)

We elitists at the Melee board claim our game's better because it has more "depth." You might misread that word and conclude that we seek a cavernously intellectual game to the detriment of fun, a game so complicated by the ins and outs of advanced techniques that it strains your brain just thinking about it. This is false. We don't think with our brains (nor with our gut -- sorry, Mr. Colbert). We think with our *****. To us, Smash is sex. To us, the deepest game is the one where the biggest **** wins.

who the hell wrote that? whoever did is a genius.

Oh yeah and pif was really fun, won all my money matches

i have a follow up question for that guy. So if melee is like sex, what would happen if u were having sex while playing melee? would something just explode with passion?

Lawkk, here's the leaked changes for SF4:

•The previously leaked characters are all said to be in the game. Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Adon, Cody and Guy. The new characters are rumored to be:
?Hakan - An Arabic grappler obsessed with oil.
?Juri - Evil Asian girl fighter working for Seth.
•All characters will have two Ultras. They will both be available at one time, not selectable like with Third Strike's Super Arts. The commands to execute your Ultras do not overlap.
?It sounds like the characters from Third Strike are set up with their prior Super Arts. They had three in that game, so one will be their Super and the other two their Ultras.
?Gen has four Ultras because of his two fighting styles. One of these is said to be an Air Ultra.
?All characters still have one Super, except Sakura who apparently has a Shinkuu Hadoken (Super Fireball) as well.
•Some characters will have Air Ultras.
•The Bonus Stages will be returning.
•Arcade location tests will start this weekend in Japan. This will be an exclusive arcade release at least for a few months.
•An official announcement is said to be coming at the Tokyo Game Show and on the Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog soon.
•Expect the return of the many familiar Supers, and a few new ones like Metsu Shoryuken. You'll see the return of Chun-Li's Kikosho (Super Fireball), Gouken's Denjin, Sagat's Tiger Cannon (Super Fireball).
•Ibuki has a run command.
•Guile has his Sonic Hurricane move from Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
•Dudley has his Chain combos from Third Strike, plus one additional Chain combo.
•Cody is the only character with an Alpha Counter and he still has his knife. He supposedly needs his knife to perform one of his Ultras.
•Rufus can cancel-break the last hit of his Spectacle Romance, or the launch kick of Space Opera Symphony.
•Guy has his Chain combos.
•Makoto has her Tanden Renki Super from Third Strike.
•Zangief is said to have a 720 degree motion Air Ultra called the Siberian Blizzard.
•The game takes place one year after Street Fighter 4.
•Dudley was searching for his car in Third Strike, in this game he's searching for a rose.
•T. Hawk's storyline involves him protecting Juni or Juli.
•Dhalsim's new Ultra is called the Yoga Shangri'la.
•There's a new gameplay system called Tadan Saving, the phrase implies a multi-hitting or multiple-level Focus Attack.
•The console characters are all said to be added to the upcoming arcade release, with the possible exceptions of Seth and Gouken.

Plus apparently it plays differently, so hopefully the movement got better, or they added guard crush.

Bold is what I'm looking forward to. Especially the play differently part. Maybe I'll start going to the EFL stuff after this comes out :)

Hopefully it's cool, I'll probably delay buying it when it comes out until the sf heads confirm if it's worth it this time. But I am scurred of Zangief having an aerial ultra...

Well, it'll make it more difficult for people to buffer their ult on landing (I'm gonna assume it's a 720 input :O)

Quote:
(which won't happen because Nintendo president said he would not make a new one without Sakurai, which is why Brawl happend) would have potentially been developed by HAL. But we will not see a new smash. Melee is the last smash game

Err. . . you do know Sakurai just opened up a new studio, where he says he is working on something 'big' for 'the competative gamer' right? If we believe the Wii 2 rumors for 2011, it is very well possible that this is Smash Brothers 4, considering the size of the team and the massive amount of top talent he has got for the project, which would have no purpose for any game he could be making outside of Smash Brothers, because its certinally not a Kirby game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masahir...Games_designed
He only designs Nintendo games mind you, and what game would be for a competative gamer other than Smashbrothers? Mario Party?

wtf?

But Sakurai actively stated and worked against brawl being competitive, the guy is a prick. I say don't trust him.

Brawl has proven that if a smash 4 does happen, it doesn't matter if there are 2 viable characters. It'll still become competitive.

That is true, if Aniki apologized, maybe bought him some ramen, things could be alright again. If only we could email him and ask.

Edit: But you know, a lot of that quote sounds like the stuff from when Brawl was a rumor. Sakurai hasn't 'recently' opened a new studio, but he had before brawl. I think this is someone grabbing old quotes and stirring **** up.

Well, today is the last day of TGS. I figure if Ninty has anything up their sleeve, it would be made public by now.

Actually, scratch that. I think TGS is done. I forget about time zones.

You don't want to know what Aniki did.

I'm sure if you searched this thread for his name, you'd learn what Aniki did.

And nintendo doesn't do TGS, they usually have a thing right before TGS, but don't attend. I don't know why, I just remember that's how it works.

Edit: maybe not, I thought it got posted here, oh well.

ok, but how do you search a specific thread?

I love video games, but I think I love girls more. It doesn't help that they seem to counter-act each other.

You click the button up there that says "search this thread"...learn to read!

And I checked again, it is posted in this thread, but you may have to search multiple times for some reason.

And yeah, welcome to the big problem with liking video games moblin.

ok, that was ****ing hilarious tim. I guess now I know.

also, Tony's tier list right after brawl came out is right underneath it. Let's take a look.

hmm.. ok. No wonder Tony quit brawl

10. Captain Falcon

Captain Falcon is surprisingly strong, and my word he's quick. It's amazing, because usually in SSB you have to give up something to be good at another thing, but Capt. Falcon is pretty much one of the most well rounded players in Brawl. Yeah his final smash sort of takes the control away from the player because you are just watching what is essentially a cut-scene, and sure his special attacks aren't the greatest, but he can own you with the right moves.

Why do they call it the PS3?

Because when you see it, you'll turn 3 degrees and walk slightly askew.

Perhaps when you see it you piss on it and walk in the same direction over it.

PiiWii is betr, but doesn't follow Mikezor's format.
