So uh I should be running tournaments cause every video and results will be up within a week/results the day after, and I'm the one who'll run the computer for brackets as well. I've already been looking into this as I've come across some big venues since I found out about it from my work, haven't gotten around to asking about it(cost, sleeping at venue, etc) due to school and college stuff I need to deal with.

But yeah, I may try something in the future.

Neil: Blame Tony, Steve, Nite(for the lulz), and DFG.

I'm kinda surprised, not only did it take forever, but all those times we went to DFG's for GGXXAC why didn't you guys talk to him about it? We're not perfect, but this is kinda lame.

LULZ Colorado doesn't know how to keep track of results :chuckle: And if you were going to argue that I copied off of your raid, it still doesn't change the fact that CO is still stupid enough to NOT know how to posts the results of a single tournament correctly.
And you've been to how many CO tournaments? Oh, really?

I'm not doing anything else this week, I have stuff to do. Unlike Jamaal, work isn't my ONLY obligation at this point, I have school, church stuff, and weekend job searching.

I'm no man's demo but my own (unless you're talking about how I'm Tony's slave) if you're asking if somebody owns me.

Even after the scandel with the decepticons, I still think optimus has the know how to make this nation a great place to kick illegal immigrants. Nevermind the fact that he wasn't born here, they'll make an ammendment.

Don't even blame me. Host one event with C3T, and watch what happens. You wanna know why the C3 series hasn't grown in it's 150000000 year run? This kinda stuff is why.

However, I do need new staff. I finally got to look over the brackets, and found that most of them were a mishmash/incomplete. Interested in helping out? We ~might~ also need someone that doesn't participate in the tournament, just to be a bracket-monkey.

I know this is going to generate trauma and tension with the scene, but I'm kinda getting fed up with things going the way they do. Official placings being completely wrong, people not even finishing the brackets, or letting others take over that obviously aren't related to the event at all, insane venue fees, and the like. I'll work with DFG for his Smash related events, but I want all of our actual OoS invitationals and crap to be run by us, to make sure nothing goes wrong.

Also, results:

Definitely considering it, Demo. Especially if I can just give you pie, instead of money.

Also, so people know, it's likely that, if we host without C3T, any of my staff/people running the tournament won't be getting paid, because venue fee will be ONLY for the venue.

EDIT: Including myself.

"Skyworld*

The ability to spike people from the stage through the clouds made this an instant ban for many in the SBR, but after closer looks we found that it is possible to destroy the top plats for saftey and the ability to tech, DI strongly, or fight elsewhere led this to being a viable counterpick as well."

That's what they claim. I say keep it banned.

"Norfair

The consistent wave of hazards pushed this into the counterpick category; the multiple ledges giving strong advantages to those with poor recoveries also played a role."

I don't like this stage, but if SBR is using it, then we should get used to it. Better to know and hate it than get surprised and ***** OoS.

Why ban Green Greens and Distant Planet, btw? DP I can see for possible walk-offs, but you can just stay away from it, I guess. Is why I wanna playtest it.

Lol, I went to finals against Don in GG, not Nite. Got too close to beating him too, even if he was sandbagging.

Ferdi edit: Why not run a tourney without C3 as a test? Every single time we get taken over and by we I mean you guys who's supposed to be directors but really isn't and for some reason gets part of the venue split. Laptop and bracket is covered I know Steve/Tony has one, venue is covered if we can get Steve's place, 100$ for the venue that fits 100 people is like 1$ per person. I'd say we just make venue fee like 2$-5$ and there you go. If we can't get it I'll look into my venues. Note the importance of housing IN the venue, how long we can stay, as well as how close it is to people's houses. Obviously you guys would rather bump it up cause you care more about money. I'd suggest that we get an approximation of how many people are going and base the venue fee on that. There's nothing people hate more than venue fees unless they're cheap, and by that I mean 5$ or less.

The only problem that we have that C3 can take care of is the publicity, but I mean cmon, everyone needs to start chipping in, printing out them flyers, and advertising. I know its hard considering gamestop and stuff only allows for counter space. So find out creative ways to do it, signs are good, thats how most garage sales get people, post it on everything(internet wise), staple it places, etc.

Equipment wise I know we can get quite a few by itself, Wiis and GCNs are covered, TVs are the big deal here, so I went and looked at RAC, but all they had are flatscreens which are probably overpriced. Where does Greg get his rentals?

The problem with SBR is that they have no idea how to play. I highly highly doubt we'd get ***** OOS because of one stage. If you realize that a counterpick has a walkoff, PLAY DDD! Not hard to CG in this game. If you realize you're playing on Skyworld, know the reasons we banned it, big stage for techs, screws recoveries, go Snake or MK. Actually, just go Snake/MK OOS. Spamming and camping and winning, get a ban on these 2 ****ers ASAP.

Tony, Idk about Distant Planet and pirate ship, but all the others look good to me (exept maybe pipes as well). I just don't like distant planet at all, but I guess we should playtest it.

But I knocked him into loser's, Ferdi, and even took a round or two from him in Grand Finals. He still won. It's just like when we mess around with our new players, to keep them from getting too discouraged. Either way, you've seen what you do to my Zappa.

Somehow, Don still wins. He's just messing with us, seriously. We need a LOT more practice before we'll take him down.

Ganon, Boozer, and some other character's recoveries get screwed in the rain in LP (thanks tim), walk off is slanted, so not so bad. If you wanna playtest I guess I'm alright with it.

As for Green Greens, recovery is ruined by the blocks half the time (especially tether). I guess you could stay away from the areas where the blocks don't spawn, but sometimes you don't really have a choice. I could go either way really, but I'm still leaning towards ban.

Is there anything going on tomorrow becaue if so I could probably make it, assuming it starts earlier than later. I work at 7:30, so would probably need to leave from 6-6:30 but if we start at like 10 then I could still be there quite a awhile.

We're prolly gonna get together, but I'm not sure when.

Btw, Ig, go to dustloop.com. It's like GGs SmashBoards.
I'll check it out, but so far I still need to figure out what the hell I'm doing in that game. I've never played a GG before and I bought it used, no manual. I don't know what half the stuff on screen mean.

Ferdi, the money I got from it barely covered driving to advertise, printing up my own flyers, and getting over to meet with Greg to get his set of flyers later on. Before you go accusing me about being all about the money, you should at least pay attention to how much **** and time I have to invest in this, especially when working with Greg. I had to listen to a conference call that extended well past the hour two days ago, just to make sure I knew what was happening with Smash. Turns out they just talked about plans for Madden and security the whole time. =/

I took on this position because I didn't want Lance taking it over. He's the one that keeps messing up our brackets, and he takes a HUGE chunk of venue.

Also, if I wanted money, I'd just play Snake and host tournaments at CCA the whole time, without telling anyone. Srsly, easy **** there.

Oh, if we really want to invest in making non-NVGA/C3 tournaments good, there's a thrift store off of Mississippi and Sable. We could pick up a bunch of okay TVs there, if we wanted, but we'd have to chip in a kind of community fund. We could also use them to further the GG scene, really.

Stop being so confrontational. It's not like you've offered to help with running tournaments before. I even remember asking you on several occasions, and you just kinda ditched out.

I think that the biggest problem with NVGA/C3 is that DFG thinks we're EVO, when we aren't pulling the numbers and prestige that they are. If we want venue fees lower, I need EVERYONE to start *****ing to him about it. When it's only me and Don arguing with him, and he has Lance saying that it's fine as is, Greg is a lot more likely to stick to his original plan. If it seems like the whole smash scene is about to go up in flames, and he's going to lose a lot of profit, he's a lot more likely to listen.

So, again, talk to Greg about the venue fees. It'd be nice to have some support on this, as Don and I have tried to contest it before. Greg's a cool guy, but he's a bit headstrong. Lance is just kinda... meh. He's cool when he's not near our tournaments.

Anyway, I digress. What stages should we playtest, and which ones should we just say "wtfban"? I agree with the notion of Skyworld.

EDIT: Igneous, dustloop explains the basics and advanced stuff.

You've never asked me, whenever I hear you talk about it its always "oh yeah, well I'm just thinking about who to get as my staff". Maybe if you actually asked me personally about it I'd be able to, hell a simple PM would've sufficed. I guess this is partly my fault considering I don't go forward and offer to run the tourneys and instead let you guys decide what happens. Now what I'm wondering is why you mention this now, instead of a long time ago? Why didn't you tell us we should ***** to greg about venue fees? Why didn't you tell us not only does Lance screw us over and takes a ton of money?

This is pretty **** prideful here Ferdi. How many tournaments have you hosted? How can you do a better job? Please explain.

I'm gonna defend Tony here. Seriously, Tony puts a lot of work into the tournaments and then sometimes they get hijacked and the rest of the time they get screwed over, and it's only partially his fault that things turn out this way. Look at DFG's success rate with his smash tournaments, tell me how many have been perfect.

Also, when Tony says, "I'm looking for staff", it's pretty obvious that it's an open invitation. He may not be directly asking you, but you have the ability to say "I would like to help."

I honestly doubt you can do better at a C3 event unless you and/or some of your staff do not participate and put your full effort into running it .

I think what we need to do is run some event w/o Greg this month or maybe next, see how it goes.

I already mentioned the deal I can get on the rooms at my work. I will need to know in advance though, and also be warned that we dcant override any other meeting scheduled in these rooms.
