Ahh. That's why I didn't recognize it, didn't know him.

Same here. It's a cycle: Attempt to study > procrastinate > fall asleep without meaning to > wake up and study last minute > get ready for exam

Wtf kind of point is that? o.o

"Oh, ok, so we'll just give you all an assignment so when you procrastinate studying for exams you'll have something to do (: "

No. That makes procrastination worse.

I don't ever study.

Works fine for me.

Don't even ****ing talk, you ****ing lazy piece of ****. You took the easiest
classes all last year and this year just so you wouldn't have to study, and now you're bragging about how you can take those easy classes without studying? What the ****? Your Pony avatar is just like your ****ty personality and I won't stand it any more. You ****ing suck. You can't even keep a main for more than a month without PMS'ing like a *****, and you're ****ing obsessed with ponies that aren't even that adorable. I mean seriously who the **** would make their avatar a pony? Sitting on a cloud? That's blasphemous. Only ****ing God can sit on the clouds, and he's not a god damn ****-licking flying pony. I wish you could actually beat me in BlazBlue just so I could have another reason to hate you.

I used to not study.

But then yea, classes got hard and apparently there would be stuff on the test not taught in class...? College is craycray.

I took the easiest classes I could because a) They wouldn't let me take Physics because they said "my math grades weren't good enough," and b) because school isn't much of an interest to me. The classes offered don't include advanced courses for computer, only regular, and my intended major is in computer. The other subjects pretty much have no use to me, and I don't want to spend excess time/effort in getting through them because I know I won't be using that information on a daily basis when I get older.

I know it wasn't directed at me, but maybe one of my reasons is the same as Zajice's? So I wanted to reply. o:

Chrome's adblock is weird so iurrno.

I would dump Firefox immediately if Chrome and Safari had even passable adblocking.

Ouch x.x That sounds pretty bad. Fun fact: I only barely passed Geometry. >.>

If you can, try to get a tutor.

I would dump Firefox immediately if Chrome and Safari had even passable adblocking.
I'd only switch if Chrome made major improvements, i.e.- NoScript, Adblock Plus at the least. I think everyone would switch if Chrome got compatibility with all FF addons.

Jury Duty in the morning...

Yay... :/
><

Good luck on it.

I really wanna play that game.

Also the point of taking hard classes in high school isn't so you learn whatever **** they're teaching. It's to develop the discipline to study when you don't want to, which you don't develop if you take easy classes. If you think you can take the majority of your classes in college without studying, you're in for a really rough time. High school is just practice for college, and it helps you get - gasp - STUDY HABITS before you **** yourself over in college. If you think you have enough discipline to suddenly spawn study habits out of thin air when you get to college, all the more power to you. But the majority of students basically need to develop them in High School.

And it kinda helps if you take hard classes that you actually like. If you don't like any, then idk what to tell you. Branch out more?

I'm aware college is nothing like high school, I didn't even expect high school to be this easy. Honestly I don't see how people can "party" in college since it's so hard, and I'm thankful I'm not a party person. I know which classes I need to study for to make good grades in, and which classes I don't need to study much/at all for in high school. I'll just change the part time studying to full time studying, and I don't think that will be hard. I'm also not going until the Fall, which means the summer is mine to get everything ready for college and get a more structured mindset by practicing discipline around the house & getting a job.

Most of the honors/AP classes here are not interesting, with the exception of World History, but I still wouldn't want to take an advanced class of that. I like generalizing and that's what normal classes do. I also prefer lecture classes over "I'm gonna hold your hand and give you everything you need to study for my tests herp derp" classes. The only classes I still have trouble with are the ones with teachers that lecture about some things then test you on others. Total waste of time. -_-

Though I do agree, with some of the mindsets I've seen at my school they really do need honors/AP classes to develop that mindset. I do it automatically when I'm interested in it and it's relevant.

Since I help teach a class, and I had to do a section on what you just said, Sapphire, I have two words for you.

Time Management

Once you're able to juggle 16 credit hours along with your social life, it's actually much easier to deal with. One thing that I've found that dips in both college and social life is study groups. I lead about 3 of them, and everyone seems to enjoy and definitely benefit from them.

But yeah, Time Management. 'nuff said.

Yeah, which is why I got it after all my finals were done. I wanted to pass this semester.

Getting your homework done is top priority, but you have to keep in mind that you really only spend about 5-6 hours more doing work in college than you do in highschool. Most people in highschool go to school for 6 hours a day and then spend an hour doing homework.

College, on the other hand spends and average of 3-4 hours a day in class and 3-4 on homework. At the end of the week, yeah sure you've spent more time doing homework, but it's only a few hours more a week than when you go to highschool. You just have to put a bit more effort in.

I know which classes I need to study for to make good grades in, and which classes I don't need to study much/at all for in high school.
Trust me, college has plenty of classes like this too.

It's not disciplining yourself to do homework or study, it's to discipline yourself to be prepared to have 3 exams on the same day and have the mental fortitude to remember the vast amount of information.

AP classes are, if anything easier than regular classes (especially if you're smart)

College is all lecturing, trust me, i love lecturing too but it does get old sometimes :p

Teachers in highschool don't have much of a choice as to what they teach, so this problem arises when they don't really want to teach a subject but then force it on you.

College professors don't pull this often though.

Don't get me wrong, at the end of the day, college sucks. Classes are hard, you WILL pull all nighters, and there will be days where you straight up say "**** IT, IMA GO PLAY VIDEOGAMES/GO SLEEP" but it's still an amazing experience and you shouldn't worry about having to study all the time or wondering how people fit partying in. It just becomes natural after a while, and you'll find the balance eventually.

I see then. :o Thanks a lot for the tip, I'll look into study groups for my math courses or so. :p

about 5-6 hours more
*Dies* @_@
That's... a lot. But I should've known. XD

Ahh, I see. That's really a relief. :D

Oh wow. x_x I see then, ugh.

Not according to one of my friends who takes AP... the exams are brutal. You have to write an entire essay for the exam, almost like a final but 10x worse. And the class makes you write every essay assignment by hand, in preparation.

College is all lecturing, trust me, i love lecturing too but it does get old sometimes :p
Yeah, I can see how lecturing gets boring... especially if you have a monotone instructor x.x

Ooooooooh k. I was wondering why she was doing that, but I know now. Thinking back to the way she teaches and her overall look, she wasn't too thrilled with having to teach I think.

I see then. I'll make sure I stock up on some 5hr Energy before I start. Thanks for the reply, you cleared up a lot I was wondering about! :) I should visit CO sooner for that, lol. You are all great people. :p[/collapse]

You don't need to "develop discipline" for college.
High school is complete BS and doesn't matter at all.
i'm sure anyone with a working brain can realize college is different, and you actually need to work at it, because it actually matters.

plus you're paying for it, so that right there is a reason to try.

What? I took 4 AP exams barely studying and got a 4, a 4, and 3 :X

Sometimes I wish I was most people.

Wtf? I went throughout highschool and I never did any homework outside of school, and pulled a 3.5 with 4 ap classes total and going into college with ~14 credits.

How can you spend 5 hours a day doing homework?

I'm not trying to sound arrogant or anything, but I have no idea how you guys can study that much or that hard. I thought highschool was easy and everything too, but I have no idea how there was that much material to study in HS. I never studied and almost always made A's....Hell I barely studied for the ACT and did fine on it too :X

Please explain!

Cheyenne Mountain. It's one of Colorado's finest districts, and expectations were through the roof.

It's worse now, and a lot of students are falling under the pressure. I'm seeing many of my younger peers succumb to the stress, and I've seen each year that at least 1 student dies by overwork/suicide.

It was terrible for me for my first 3 years of HS though since I worked my *** off. During my senior year, it paid off because I was only there for 2 periods and didn't swim anymore. Now that I look back on it, I have no idea how I managed during my freshmen year. My freshmen year consisted of zero hour Jazz Band (6:00) and swimming (19:00). I was at the school for more than 12 hours per day for my first year. Homework was a different story.

I suppose another reason is because I'm Chinese and Japanese. I got the best of both worlds, and the worse as well. Chinese Mothers praise their eldest son, but at the same time have very high expectations of them. Japanese Fathers also praise their eldest son, but also have that very high expectations. In short, I was expected to make straight A's. Letting them down wasn't an option.

i think steam is in IB? But I had a bunch of asian friends in high school who were in all advanced classes and stuff and I could see them spending 5 hours or homework/studying easily. For me though highschool was also pretty easy, though I was never in super advanced classes but yeah I pretty much never did homework outside of class unless it was a paper or something and did fine on ACT also, well good enough to get in to any of the instate colleges here.

In terms of college, I'm about to enter my senior year after this semester and well here are some words of wisdom. There are some classes you can get away from not studying at all in or even showing up to. But you can't do both. IF you choose not to show up to class, then u better make sure you have a friend who does or know exactly what is going on by reading the textbook. I highly recommend to not ditch class unless its an introductory course and even then its still risky but you can get away with it. Past introductory courses, yeah just don't even miss class. Showing up to class is probably the easiest way you can pass through college. Also from another standpoint, you or someone is paying for you to be there, so you might as well get your moneys worth. At the beginning of each semester it always helps to do extremely well on the first tests, they are usually the easiest. This will help you down along towards the end of the semester when you have multiple test and papers due and you have to prioritize which classes you need to devote the most/least time. Be sure to make at least 1 friend/acquaintance in your class, this really helps a lot as you can help each other out. TALK TO YOUR PROFESSORS. IF you show initiative, interest, and dedication, they will make sure that you pass the class. They are human believe it or not.
