I'm aware college is nothing like high school, I didn't even expect high school to be this easy. Honestly I don't see how people can "party" in college since it's so hard, and I'm thankful I'm not a party person.
Getting your homework done is top priority, but you have to keep in mind that you really only spend about 5-6 hours more doing work in college than you do in highschool. Most people in highschool go to school for 6 hours a day and then spend an hour doing homework.
College, on the other hand spends and average of 3-4 hours a day in class and 3-4 on homework. At the end of the week, yeah sure you've spent more time doing homework, but it's only a few hours more a week than when you go to highschool. You just have to put a bit more effort in.
I know which classes I need to study for to make good grades in, and which classes I don't need to study much/at all for in high school.
Trust me, college has plenty of classes like this too.
I'll just change the part time studying to full time studying, and I don't think that will be hard. I'm also not going until the Fall, which means the summer is mine to get everything ready for college and get a more structured mindset by practicing discipline around the house & getting a job.
It's not disciplining yourself to do homework or study, it's to discipline yourself to be prepared to have 3 exams on the same day and have the mental fortitude to remember the vast amount of information.
Most of the honors/AP classes here are not interesting, with the exception of World History, but I still wouldn't want to take an advanced class of that.
AP classes are, if anything easier than regular classes (especially if you're smart)
I like generalizing and that's what normal classes do. I also prefer lecture classes over "I'm gonna hold your hand and give you everything you need to study for my tests herp derp" classes.
College is all lecturing, trust me, i love lecturing too but it does get old sometimes
The only classes I still have trouble with are the ones with teachers that lecture about some things then test you on others. Total waste of time. -_-
Teachers in highschool don't have much of a choice as to what they teach, so this problem arises when they don't really want to teach a subject but then force it on you.
College professors don't pull this often though.
Though I do agree, with some of the mindsets I've seen at my school they really do need honors/AP classes to develop that mindset. I do it automatically when I'm interested in it and it's relevant.
Don't get me wrong, at the end of the day, college sucks. Classes are hard, you WILL pull all nighters, and there will be days where you straight up say "**** IT, IMA GO PLAY VIDEOGAMES/GO SLEEP" but it's still an amazing experience and you shouldn't worry about having to study all the time or wondering how people fit partying in. It just becomes natural after a while, and you'll find the balance eventually.
