I would.

Ban Brinstar tho. It promotes ****ishness. And you don't want to have to deal with that ****.
I laugh when I see these comments. It means you don't notice the "tail" in the background, or the movement.

It's the same reason boss and the other taj can come from va and we can take them to japes to get a free win consistently. :B

Learn your stages, yo.

I have a better tournament record on Brinstar than I do on FD with ICs

Not even kidding

He didn't really say anything about being ****ed by Brinstar because he didn't notice anything. He just doesn't like dealing with it. Brinstar was by far the most jank stage that was kept on as legal. So many stages were banned that were far less jank than it.

I laugh at these comments because it doesn't matter if you see when the lava is coming. You completely miss WHY the stage is ******** all together. You have to leave the ground either way. The stage itself actively ****s you by forcing you into a horrible position IF YOU ARE INTELLIGENT. If you are NOT intelligent you get ****ed by the lava and then you are put in an even worse position. It's not a lack of knowledge, it's the inherent aspects of the stage which force option limitation, and coerce you into putting yourself into harms way.

It turns the game into a 2v1 for my character vs the majority of the cast. People who need a stage to limit options and force favorable positioning for them aren't going to get better as players. And I would postulate that the American tradition of utilizing and furthermore RELYING on this crutch instead of furthering their reading, spacing, etc is a major contributing factor as to why we have not progressed at the same rate as the Japanese who rely solely on PvP skill to win.

But the Japanese themselves said that our American players are on par with a lot of the Japanese players. And that there are more of them (top level players) around here than there are in Japan. o_o Somehow we're still "progressing" at the same rate and for both sides the players have strengths and weaknesses.

Giving a false sense of security. They're very wise to employ it.

Again, your character either does ****ty on Brinstar or you don't know how to play the stage.

Diddy does incredibly ****ty on most counterpicks, and AZ sat down and said "let's figure this out" and he does very well on Brinstar and Norfair both, despite them both being traditionally awful stages for Diddy.

Brinstar is one of Dedede's harder counterpicks against a lot of the cast, despite it being a traditionally poor stage for the character.

You say I need a stage to put my opponent in a poor position, I say you can't do anything unless the game is in a vacuum. The moment there's a slight breeze that makes you compensate you just lose your mind because your hold on the game is so fragile.

A slight breeze is Lylat's tilt or Yoshi's uneven ground. Brinstar is a giant pool of lava. Brinstar is worse than Pirate Ship and almost Luigi's Mansion. I never got why it was legal, aside from Melee legacy reasons.

A general rule of thumb is to practice your bad CP to get better at the game overall. Not saying Pirate Ship and Luigi's Mansion is unplayable, but that the current stagelist being used should be at default be practiced, instead of trying to ***** your way out of not using the stage.

ICs on Brinstar feel the same way the rest of the cast feels VS ICs on FD/ smashville. The only difference is that you can ban Brinstar and never worry about it but the rest of the cast has to deal with you starting on one of your counter-picks.

The Japanese won ONE tournament. This is not the defining moment of them being the best in the world.

lol boss comes to conclusions about the midwest after going to a tournament that even midwesterners acknowledge is not the standard

if we rely on janky stages so much you should come to this tournament and get torn up on neutrals by our top players ;)

You cited FD and smashvile for ICs? You do realize that most ICs players consider BF the best stage for the character now on the whole (obviously certain MUs might vary).

And those who believe ICs vs MK, wario, peach, snake, othercharsthatusebrinstarlot gives a comperable advantage to those characters as FD gives to ICs in the same matchups are absolutely out of their mind.

New side event. 08 CP+ only singles.

Delfino Plaza
Frigate Orphan
Rainbow Cruise
Battleship Halberd
Brinstar
Pirate Ship
Distant Planet
Big Blue
Luigi's Mansion
Norfair
Port Aero Town Dive
Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1
Pictochat
Pokemon Stadium 2
Jungle Japes
Corneria
Green Greens
Onett

Before the first game each player gets to strike 3 stages (1221). The starting stage is then picked by random.
Winner bans 2 stages. Loser picks 4 stages and the stage is chosen by random between those 4. Character CPing is done before the stage is randomly decided.

MK banned.

I will run this.

wtf is that not legit Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1 doing on there? Wouldn't the winner ban the two stages and the loser picks the four?

I don't know the rules, but Norfair's not fair.

Naw man, I'm like a sage of stages and a guru of counterpicking. This **** will be deeper than a gravity well. The players will have to take into consideration multiple stages at a time instead of simply one. It will be a mosaic web of characters and stages that only a true master of stages and counter picking will be able to unravel. It will be like that chess game from Star Wars before every game.

Wouldn't the winner ban the two stages and the loser picks the four?
Fixed that.

Yeah because generalizations are cool, lol. I'm one of the biggest SV/BF/FD monsters around and I know plenty of people who are the same way. Enough with the stupid snarky region **** already, it's unnecessary and just makes people who bring it up sound mad ignorant.
