Uh Not sure right now. Last one was End of year. So I wouldn't mind doing it Three times a year, so end of April? I'm pretty sure some people need to go to more tournaments *cough* you.

We wanted to up the prereq for minimum tourneys since it is over a several month span and it was impossibly hard to judge something like Trail who has 1 tourney vs Orly who has like 12.
the prob. is im about 4 X better than ORLY, so i should be in just by default due to u guys knowing i **** half the people on that list, oh and no johns. also, dart is my ***** in this game, his lucky 3 stock comebak all dat ***** got, i spanked that *** last time we played in tourney, oh and no johns. also tink is my ***** too in this game, ***** hasnt beat me in like 3 years in a tourney ya **** ****** niiggasss thats right, oh and no johns.

Appreciate it, Chris

Who's coming to MI this weekend? I need numbers and a tentative arrival time on Friday night so I can get back to my place in time.

It only takes away if people actually plan to go.
If it's like 1 car going which is at max 5 people it's the other way around.

Yeah you guys ****ing suck. I would have scheduled SWEET VII for 3/10 if I had known that a grand total of zero Chicago people actually intended on going to both SMYM and SWEET. Now a ton of locals are invoking St Pattys Day johns, great.

pshhh....i thought you onlyyyy made it the 17th as is, becauseee of hailey.....on a side note, i think chicago bailed because they saw the tournament wasnt gonna be that big at all....pitsburg/ohio both said they were bailing before chicago ://...its gonna be a MI only local basically, withhh 5$ teams 0_0.....thats more of a local then anything else.

He was already here on the 9th, we could have done it either weekend. Just saying, don't create the illusion of wanting to attend when nobody actually intends to do so =\

Juggle I was just talking to Khepri and we were still going to come if it was going to be big enough. Whats the turnout looking like?

It's really hard to say. Between 30-50 depending on how many locals show up.

This is one of the weekends where I can actually house people, too. Already got two people staying here for the weekend, so I got you guys covered if you make it.

Also Tink, $5 doubles is the way to go these days. Every time we do $10 doubles, we get like 5 team entrants. We lower it to $5 doubles and all of a sudden tourneys like SWEET VI get 19 team entrants. Tell me which one you'd rather have... you guys are actually one of the only regions left doing $10 doubles at locals.

loll....yo, i hear ya that when MI was getting alot of their "scrubbier/college kids" coming that that wouldve rang true, but mostly now(from what i read in results), your getting MI veterans/OoS veterans going mostly. if its gonna actually attract more ppl to just change it to 5 extra bux, the standarddd, i dont see the downfall 0_o.

i mean, just make it 10 one time and prove me wrong....i wont mind looking stupid 0_0.

roflll...the new school bringing down the game!!!

5$? we shoudlnt even do them for 5$....every other competitive game community would laughh at any game they played being ran for 5$....but smash is fine with it....ridic, just ridic.

/just my opinion obv

I don't think it really matters how much teams is. Singles is the real event, teams is more of a fun side event/warm up than anything.

That said, I still run $10 teams.

I mean it's the same rehashed teams from the 20 player pool for chicagoland locals, so I don't think $10 teams is really 'bringing the competition'. I also don't think people are going to sandbag 3.5% more because they're playing GF for $20 instead of $40.
I think increased entry at regionals really will only attract players that expect to win, which is a vast minority of players. We did $10 teams and $15 singles at smym and how many out of region players did we get?

loll....this year, smym wasnt gonna be as big as other years....the writing was on the wall...we had no attendance from MI or Oh, which is about 20 less ppl....OoR players dont come to tournaments with expectations in the 80s 0_0.

also, were not talking about chicago, where our smashers dont represent untill summer time. MI tournies have been getting alot of OoS players and dont go through the same player pool problem we have.....which isnt even a teams problem, its a, we dont have enough players problem.

Well if teams isn't getting enough interest, other side tournaments could be done. Random-partner teams, Rat's FFA tournament, Cactuar's ruleset, Low tier tournament, Fixed secondary tournament, Kish Prime's No Johns ruleset, etc etc...

I think any of these (including regular teams) should be only $5 tho. If it was a regional, $10 would be more fitting for teams, but at a tournament with less than 32 teams $10 does not make sense.

Here's a link to all the pictures I took at SMYM: http://filesmelt.com/dl/SMYM13.zip

I wasn't planning on taking that many but next year I'll be ready and they'll be even more awesome. Until then, enjoy these. Some great "game faces" in there ;)

:phone:
Kels wiping his hand on his pant leg over the course of 10 pictures during kels vs darkrain was lulz.

some doubles GF pics I'm not sure if it's my game face or just that I was talking a lot during the sets.

rat: darrel was talking about that combo in some thread, he said he thought it was guaranteed

I wouldn't say guaranteed in the way that he was in hit stun the whole time. i think peach may have been able to wiggle air dodge but yeah guaranteed peach was dying either way.

You're talking about the samus combo, right? Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. It looked like he was trying to move away and fastfall under it, but it didnt work either. I don't think peach's jump would have moved fast enough
