I'll be interested to see what happens when a new list comes out next year

Could I make a suggestion? Perhaps the number of results, regardless of whether it was top 8 or a win could be posted alongside a character so that we know just how many results each character is getting? For example, Sonic has a total of 36 results atm. Though I suppose you can count them up if you aren't lazy

More results = a more tourney viable/better character.

Obviously, however this is done, it's not perfect. Sonic has more points then a lot of other characters because he has had a lot of success in tournies. You could say that Sonic has only recieved points in smaller tournies, with low entry fees, so has relatively few points in relation to how many placings he's had.

Double edged sword. Yes, if Sonic has had these points from smaller tournies, it could show that he's not often placing at big national tournaments (which...he actually is >_>) However, because of these multiple placings it could show that Sonic can hold his own well in a competitive environment as multiple people are doing well with a 'bad' character.

That, and the size of tournaments doesn't have that strong a correlation with the standard of competition there. Often, smaller tournies have very good players there (ehh, like Chu Dat's tournies.) If a Sonic placed there and got relatively few points for it, would you say that someone who placed highly at a massive gameshop scrubfest with Sonic and earned a lot of points for it did a better job and so is worthy of more points?

If you really think that, I advise you check the bowser or MK boards. There's a looot more to the match-up then the chaingrab...

I agree that we could do better but it's still pretty decent. Also, bowser is definitely not deserving of low tier. I would say middle of mid tier is a great spot for him.

I wasn't directing that at everyone. Just the ones who completely dismiss Sonic's tourney records. Regardless of the circumstances he has the results. People need to accept that he's perfectly viable. Maybe skewed a little but certainly mid tier.

He's mid tier by the current tier/character ratio. Definitely. IF a bottom tier is created he'd probably still be one or two spots from the bottom of mid. MAYBE low. I doubt it though.

Haha, perfectly understandable, its just "you guys" leaves a lot of wiggle room for who you're directing your statement at.

I see Sonic going mid tier, though. Or at least top of Low, those results are a little too good to be looked over, even if they are at 'small' tournaments. >_>

Even I think his results are skewed to make him look better than he is. I just don't like people ignoring them due to personal bias. Adapt made a tier list that I really liked.

TOP: MK, Snake
HIGH: Falco, DDD, G&W, Marth, Diddy, Wario, ROB
UPPER: Lucario, Olimar, Pikachu, Kirby, DK, ICs, Peach, ZSS
MID: TL, Pit, Wolf, Luigi, Sheik, Bowser, Fox, Zelda
LOW: Sonic, Ike, Mario, Ness, Lucas, Samus, PT, Yoshi
BOTTOM: Link, Jiggs, Ganon, Falcon

This one. There are some debatable things but I feel like the ground leading up to at least Zelda is solid.

I want to make it clear that as part of the Sonic Boards community, we aren't violent flamers (before anyone comes in to argue against this, perhaps in the past some were but not anymore) who refuse to listen to what other people think of Sonic (unless they're wrong)

We know and accept that Sonic is going to be in either mid or low tier because on paper he is rubbish (I think he'll be around mid-low). People make it sound like we think Sonic should be up there with Marth and Falco

Results can only boost Sonic up so far. If human error isn't taken into account (which it isn't) then Sonic will forever be mid/low tier

Unless someone finds a way to completely break him (I personally wouldn't mind a way to activate his Final Smash after a period of time )

We should keep tier discussion out of this thread. Sonic isn't going to ever move out of low tier, even if a bottom tier is created. I would bet all the steak and Haunters in Mobius.

The only way for us to do that is to be pushovers. We tried to be nice. We really did and hell, we still are. We haven't flamed anyone or anything as far as I saw. It's really hard to show respect when you aren't given any in return. Sad to say but most people view our character as far worse than he really is. You'll notice that the Falcons, Ganons, etc AREN'T arguing because they know their characters deserve to be down there. The odds of EVERY PERSON who plays Sonic thinking that his positions is jank without substance are extremely low. Even NinjaLink and Anther say Sonic is mid. I'm fine with admitting he's pretty bad. There's no reason for people to flatout ignore the evidence placed before them.

Welll, Personally I think alot of Low Tier needs to be fixed. I feel Jiggs need to be moved oen or two spots, Sonic needs to creep into the lwast slot of Mid or top of Low. Samus and Link have proven to be better than previously thought though not by much. The principal of the point is Terios yes you should be pushovers because all the arguing about it in the world won't do jack **** for you. IT just gets on people's nerves and makes everyone get sick of seeing sonic mains arrive in threads.

I disagree InfernoRage. Literally everyone in this game is usable and winnable with except for 1 or 2 characters, and even if they are mastered it can be done. What that doesnt mean is that characters deserve a higher tier placement. Tiers represent your matchups with the rest of the cast in the current metagame, and once u get out of the top 2 tiers its basically all guess work.

@NikoK: Definitely agree lol, carter has such a beast Samus... but maybe that means my PT is beast too cuz ive never lost to his samus ^^

Wait, let me get this straight, you're saying we should continue to torch n00bs that come into our boards and ask the same questions, because it will make no difference? besides that, Sonic fanboys exist, as much as people would want us to go fall into a well, we will be around, so people either get used to it or leave the boards (I bet someone even commited suicide because they can't step it up).

I dont care how the BR or whoever, sees us, the character is good and we are going to continue to prove it with logic and results until you people accept it. our rep can go down the tube for all we care as long as you recognise that we play a mid tier character.
