Say you're playign against an MK on the conveyor belt bit.

He's on the edge. What do you do?

Pressure him? No. Because you'll be taken offstage with an mk above you. have fun there.
I don't know? Something risky that I would think of on the fly? Something that abused conveyor momentum to make safe or less risky? What character am I playing? I guess I would do what I want. I'm not exactly a master of theorycraft.

@Tibs: It's not like a MK player will always nado if you're on the conveyor. Especially if you're playing footsies. Sure, he might have nice ledge options, but he also has a ledge limit.

@Hater:

1. Good characters can punish MK aerial stuff.
2. How does the ice increase the surprise factor of a dash grab? Wouldn't it make it less surprising, if you knew it gave it a nice boost?
3. Good characters also have a ground game to use against MK. It's not like you're playing MK against an unplugged controller.
4. Everyone else is NOT hindered during the transformations. gawsh.

1. Lol ?
2. it doesnt boost the grab its boosts his speed towards an opponent so yes it would be surprising unless you play like shmots idea of japanese brawlers
3.Sorry ? have you read the mu's or seen a tier list lately its not a fluke mk has that spot :p
4. you gave reason why the fire transformation is bad and you say no1 is hindered on it ? The ice transformation hinders ground spacing unless you play it almost everyday.Ii do take my statement back ice climbers arent hindered at all by the ice :D

Also you didnt even attempt to deal with half the points i raised ^^

I hate greens greens... that stage is le gay.

I don't see why some people want PS2 as a starter, is seems fine as a CP.

Sure, as Zero said, it gives advantages and disadvantages to different characters, hence that's why it'd make a good CP depending on what character you're using.

It has too much gay element/physic changing properties to be a good starter. I'd much rather have a stage with obstructions in the way than a stage that could possible gay you with it's stage properties on the starters list.

Okay okay, so like, if 5 stages is sooo difficult why not do 7?

Battlefield, Smashville, Yoshi's Island, Lylat Cruise, PS1, PS2, and something else.

Everybody wins, right?

I agree with Ricky. That something else would probably be FD. As I believe FD is viable in a 7 stage starter list, correct?

It was viable in a 7 stage starter list when PS2 wasn't. Now that there's talk of PS2 being starter, who knows.

What ever happened to:

BF
Smashville
FD
Lylat
Yoshis

being starters?

PS1 and 2 can be CP's if there's so much fuss over them >_>

also as Ted said before, ps2 messes
with the physics of the game. which IMO is kinda stupid. Marth probly has grab release tipper on some
chars on the ice transformation. On the air one, you die easier from moves that kill vertically.
Conveyor belt is dangerous for everyone bar mk.

'nuff said.
Should not be neutral.
Platform cancelling messes with the physics of the game.
I can do that on smashville all the time.

And tibs, take a moment to think about it "Marth probly has grab release tipper on some chars on the ice transformation."

How is that even possible? Sliding doesn't last forever. The speed you go at would push you all the way to a ledge before you even released (unless you're mashing hard / at really low percents [oh no, STRATEGY; that isn't fun]). I don't see how this isn't any more like MK's dash grab, and marth can't tipper fsmash ANYONE who's been released right next to a ledge.

Conveyor belt is dangerous for everyone bar mk.

Have you PLAYED MK against someone on the conveyor belt section?

I'm glad you've listed some points made through your VIVID IMAGINATION'S THEORY CRAFTING DEVICE,
but maybe you should actually see and make sure those things were possible first.

-

Anyway, I have a big doubt PS2 would end up as starter at robocop. It would be nice, I feel it's worthy of it.
But hater's gonna hate a stage they've played on only with the pretence of "lulz".

Marth can instant kill himself if he uses the Dancing Blade on the conveyor belt. It's like watching Mario Cape MK's dimensional cape.

I'll put up links to a bunch of matches later.

This all being said I used to be of the mindset that any stage that alters the physics of the game should be removed from the stagelist, but I've changed my mind. I don't think PS1 or PS2 is campier than the other. They're just campy in different ways.

But I also don't think either is suitable in a 5-stage starter list. Maybe in a 9 stage list.

in the ice transformation, dash grab --> grab release --> utilt is legit on almost everyone.

although its pretty stupid.

EDIT: brinstar is more stupid anyway.

lol Port Town.

Good stuff BBR.

Actually I'm more surprised about Distant Planet. That stage hasn't been legal since like, before the game was released.

Luigi's Mansion and Norfair not in Counter/Banned is also quite wut.

I like how they've formally discouraged coaching mid tournament! LOL

actually coaching was banned from a lot of older tournaments, except for crew battles and teams. it was easy to implement in mlgs since the players were cordoned off from all spectators.

i don't really care for the brawl ruleset discussion (because i am relying on rc tos: shaya/cdog to solve it for me), but i am against coaching during 1v1 battles. saying that, i will implement a no-coaching rule during all singles events (except crews and teams).

ted: tell them in-between matches, not during. it may be disrespecful to the opponent and is definently providing an unfair advantage against the opponent. if you want support your mate, that's what crews and teams are for. singles is an affair of solitude between the players want to verse other players, within their own independent capacity, without having to be spoonfed advice from their alliances.

robocop will have tos constantly watching important matches and will be on the lookout for singles coaching -- people have now been warned. i will strictly enforce consequences for those deliberatly coaching someone during a match. before in-between and after matches is fine.

i have seen it enacted before and forsee no problems implementing it. discretion at its finest.

its just a bit tricky
where you do draw the line

"go toshi!" "come on toshi" "don't be afraid toshi" "turn up the heat toshi" "punish him toshi" "careful, toshi" "watch out for his f-smash!" "nice, smart decision there!"

gets a bit grey, doesn't it

^ errr... what? no no, don't jump the gun, talk to me first regarding rule policy (re: anything) before using that kind of discretion -- as a director i won't be giving any tos that kind of power. i'm setting up a heirarchy of decision making at the tournament where dqs would have to be approved by myself first before they can actually happen.

on short, if you see coaching, report it to me and explain it in detail and i'll make a final call

edit -- need to write down for each to their roles, responsibilities and their powers. will do it soon for ya!

No Scoot. I'll actually be helping you out.

As you know, you will disgree with everything I say, which means if I give you bad advice, you will take good options. :)

If I gave you good advice, you'd lose :(
