Think about how much there is to improve in the game of brawl and the community itself. In my opinion, everything will be pretty solid.

Some predictions,

1. All character's metagame will be pretty maxed out. Espicially those that have hardly any players showcasing the character's potential. (Peach, DK, Luigi, YOSHI o_O)

2. The stage list will be solid. No more debatable counterpicks, banned stages. Starter list might be different. Lylat Cruise might be gone and replaced with Halberd, Delfino, PS1, etc. Overall, the stage list will be 100% acceptable.

3. No more debates about MetaKnight! All possible debates will be over with. Hopefully everybody will be happy whether MK is banned or not.

4. Brawl will have a major sponsor. Be it MLG, Evo, whatever. After reasons 1, 2, & 3 are accomplished, the SSBB community well be too well rounded to not have a good supporter of tournament play.

Anything I missed?

/lied.

Actually, he's somewhat right.

However I feel much too lazy to explain it, and all I will say is that it's up to the players to decide where Sonic will be.

You of all people should know that everything he was was wrong.

You mean everything he said?

Well, I can't confirm that he's wrong, since I don't have a time machine, but I can tell you what might be the turn-out that has the best chance of happening, and that turnout is decided by how much faith the Sonic community put in the character they play.

Everyone should know by now Brawl will be dead by then.
I can go back to playing World of Warcraft (or get into competitive DotA) if that happens, I suck too much at Melee and Smash 64 is dead.

It's ok. I know it's hard to tell when somebody is joking on the internet.

Oh yea, and brawl definately won't be dead in 3 years. Because if it is then pretty much this whole website will be dead, and I doubt that would happen.

Who knows if Brawl will be good in 3 years. For all we know, hacking communities might take over O_O.

I have a good feeling we're gonna be ok. Hopefully something happens soon.

In all honesty, I just really want the melee vs. brawl debates to end, that's what I want soon. I think brawl will be just fine, and it'll grow and change and it'll have a scene, right along side it's older brother melee.

And Kinzer, I don't think competititive DoTA will be around much longer with Heroes of Newerth having a pretty successful beta.

You're forgetting that a large section of the SmashBoards community actually hates Brawl and the site still manages to get around fine with that.

Also, that logic is slightly flawed...

Brawl won't die because Brawl dying would cause the site to die, which couldn't happen...but if there's nothing saying that Brawl couldn't die by then, then why is it magically not going to die because that would mean the death of the site?

It's a very looping logic...

You forgot the part where Jigglypuff finds a shroom and magically rediscovers a firey rest instant kill with a full body hitbox and becomes top tier.

Does it help that I've been listening to the puffstuff soundtrack? Yes, but still. You forgot the magical shroom forest.

Brawl will never BE better, but it will LOOK better to the competitive players when the party-fest known as SSB4 is released.

I hate some of you so much.

It'll be intersting to see some of the characters' metagames 3 years from now. I wonder if Kirby/GW's metagames will EVER change.

Is there a wikipedia article or a home website I can look into?

I want to find another passtime that isn't Brawl (Melee is out of the question as I've said before). World of Warcraft costs money and takes your soul, not to mention I hate how it's gotten so easymode compared to the vanilla days, it's mostly PvP/Arenas and PvE feels too much like a chore... so does grinding.

DotA is fine... when it is. Sure I could actually form/join up with a local team here and Vegas and get into some scene, but meh... I'm fine with Brawl. Pug games however are annoying with all the elitists/leavers/laggers/hackers, I swear to God I rarely get pug games where I legitimately lose/win.

I've tried some other stuff, like PSO before the servers went offline forever. I've tried Ragnarok Online but again it felt too much like a chore and it took too much time to get anywhere... that costed money too.

Gunbound was a fun game, even if I sucked at it, for whatever reason though I can't make an account and go back in there, it won't let me. Such a shame because all it was was just basic mathematics, what with using the right weapons for the most damage and allowing you to squeeze in the most turns, and angling not only the projectile, but also angling which way you fired from.

I've played Diablo, but it got old now, it's only fun with friends, and this is just me but I feel like I'm doing a chore when I have to explore and learn everything about the game, like taking detours... however that can be easily taken care of by just farming, and it was fun later on in the game when you had more spells/abilities.

Brawl has been on little more than a downward spiral since its release. Just like St. Anger, people have realized how terrible it is in retrospect, and its decline will only continue to the point where three years from now they'll have just turned SSB4 into a Melee remake as Wii's last 1st party release game before rolling full on into the next system. At least, that's the way it'll go if game companies continue going down the road of shallow gameplay they've been trodding for the PAST three years.

I know how you feel, passing time when I didn't have people to brawl with, I went through a few games. I played in the TDA DoTA community, but that eventually got boring too, pubs are usually pretty terrible that way.

Most MMORPG have that feeling where something is more of a chore than it is fun. It's part of the reason I quit FFXI back when, for every like 1 hour of pleasure in that game theres like 5 suffering before it.

I played me some Gunbound too, was fun, but I got tired of working too hard to get equipment.

Basically HoN is just DoTA, but remade to look like 100x sexier. Some guys got together and said DoTA is too good a game to run on just the WC3 engine, and decided to make a separate game for it, and they talked to IceFrog and as far as I know he's helping develop the game. It's closed beta right now, but it's invite to those who have keys, so I could help you out I'm pretty sure if you wanted to try it out, but we should probably take this to PMs ^^;

LOL straight up

Melee forever
I wasn't trying to say that Brawl was a bad game, nor SSB4 will be a bad game just because they're not competitive. >_>

FUN FACT FOR NooBS: Smash was never intended to have a competitive scene.

It might be more appealing or simple.
But that doesn't make the game any better. Seriously...

Play Melee.
(If you want competitions)

Or even better. Play KoF 98/2002 :D.

Well, there's no guarantee that Brawl will be better in 3 years, but we can always hope.

And I doubt it will be dead in another three years. Well, I hope it isn't anyway. Brawl's only been developing for a little mroe than a year. Melee's has been developing for much longer. Give it some more time folks.

There's going to be the world's end in 3 years. Giving it time is out of the question .

Personally, I think that Clown totally won the thread.
He's right, it's gonna make the game LOOK better.

Well with all the hitstun and techniques put into 64 / Melee, it has one. Sometimes it even looks like some of the techniques in this game were intended. But it's not like we'll ever know. Sakuria wasn't the only one working on the game, I'm sure he had some help in the planning/development process tbh.

There's no way another Smash is coming on the Wii.-_- It's a traditional thing, just like the Mario platformers (Unfortunately, Super Mario Galaxy 2 says hi) ppl should've realized this when we were waiting for Brawl to come out.

Try Guild Wars. There's not really too much grinding (lvl cap is at 20), but the game is still freaking long as hell. And now you can buy the trilogy (which is basically three games in one) for $50; and there's no monthly fee. I picked it up some time last week and I have to admit, it's pretty fun. The only true negative aspects to the game are the fact that you can only carry eight spells at a time; and even that's a subjective negative. The game doesn't suck your life away like WoW either. Sure it can get addicting, but nothing like what I've heard of from WoW.

I don't think it will change that much. The thing that people are overlooking is the fact that in melee, they didn't LOOK for AT's, they just sprang up. In brawl, they actually looked for stuff, there for your game should be developing much faster, but it isn't because brawl isn't a deep fighter. srry folks, dat ain't melee.

Play melee @_@
