What's with people banning stages in Tournaments? Thats silly. Those hazards are there to make the game fun, not so they can't be used in tournaments. The rules make the game boring and drab, which is basically everything the game is not supposed to be.

Example: Final Destination. Falco (or Fox) could spam there blasters until a opponent approaches or Falco/Fox is attacked by a opponent with a better projectile game, then Falco/Fox could Falco Phantasm/Fox Illusion to the other side of the stage, and continue, or Falco/Fox could reflect the projectile, assuming the projective is reflect-able.

Oh, Final Destination gives a advantage to Falco. In fact, no matter how hard you try, a stage is going to give a advantage to a character. So if your going to ban a stage becuase it gives a character a advantage, you might a well ban them all.

This part of your post is correct.

The rest of your post is incorrect. We ban stages that stop the game from being a test of skill, either because too much luck is involved or skill-less strategies dominate. We don't ban due to it favoring a character unless it is extreme.

Fun is subjective. When $1,000 is on the line, do you really think the players are concerned about the fun value of the stage?

While Fox and Falco both benefit from Final Destination, it is not nearly as helpful as you imply. Only a few characters with horrible mobility, like Ganon, really suffer from them playing keepaway with lasers.

By the way, pockyD was being sarcastic and mocking you.

The problem is that this is also subjective. Also, the problem is a number of stages have been banned because they MIGHT have some "skill-less strategy dominate" and ban it in fear instead of letting the situation actually occur. What your worried about being broken might turn out to be countered, but won't be found if the stage is never played.

I know. I my personal stage legality list has 20 stages legal, because many were banned for no good reason imo. However, you don't need to thoroughly test Hyrule to see that it's not fit for competitive play.

Most of the bans are because of fox. Fox is tooo good on those stages. Like every single one of them you can either run away perfectly, Camp perfectly, or infinite people at any time.

play a few "serious" matches with a competent fox on any of the bans and it gets apperent really early why that stage is stupid and dumb.

+1 vote for brining flatzone back though lol.

needs more poke floats?
NO, not if I want to play as ice climbers ever again. I hate the random SDs.

Best stage to bring in would be brinstar depths. I lovee it. fox can't waveshine to long the stage changes ever 20 secs and the only spot that you can fall in is pretty easy to survive even as fox. This can't be long term camping, edge gaurd is crazy, no chain throwing, blastzones somewhat change so fox doesn't have a ******** upper hand with upwards kills on every part. It's predictable mix bag of fun.

People should play on it way more. Way more legit than raindbow ride.

I think that OP is right except a few changes should be made. We should play as only Pichu on Hyrule Temple only. I mean, choosing such a big map and using only one character will mean that everyone has the same advantages, right? Right?

OP you obviously dont get WHY we ban stages

take a look at both of the yoshis islands

YI64 puff is extremely difficult to kill because of the absolutely rediculous blast zones, clouds to help her already rediculous recovery, and the platforms are perfect for her its obvious puff breaks this stage

look at the melee YI fox can waveshine most of the cast up that hill and might i add its easy i cant even waveshine as fox (hell i barely play fox at all) and i can shine CF, peach, and many other characters up that hill no problem so fox breaks that stage

and heres the age old example

fox on the temple

OH MY GOD BROKEN ****!!!

fox can just run away and laser camp as long as he wants as long as the opponent isnt named captain falcon or fox and even then he can do some stupid **** if the fox plays REALLY GAY!

its scenarios like this that totally break the game not making it a test of skill but just how much you can abuse the stages flaws

i can go on but thats enough for now hopefully you now understand OP

Thank you.
Your a funny guy, the reason stages are banned is because they give an overwhelming advantage to one character or another. mostly because of fox.

but, the other reasons are cause theres random hazzards that either player could run into and lose because of, not because of skill. if you think the game is boring..then...if your talking about brawl your right and go play melee.

OP's problem is that in his view competitive = opposite of fun. This is a wrong view that a surprising number of people hold, while in reality, most competitve players do have fun playing competitively and won't put up with stages that ruin the competitive aspect.

Another thing is that the game doesn't have to be all about fun in tournament matches. There are other factors than simply "fun" that make a good, competitive game.
