Advertisement, much? We can get pretty much everything you just talked about in this Poke Center.

Dude, sotp being a douchebag. You can't honestly tell me I'm trolling the Poke Center when you're trying to derail a thread.
This is an advertisement. He's right. If the Poke Center got decent moderation, a mod would've told you this by now.

I'm getting a little sick of advertisement of all of these Pokemon sites in the Poke Center, it's happening all too often. If we really wanted all of this in-depth stuff, we'd join the Serebii Forums, as we're all perfectly aware of Serebii here. We've got most of it here in the Poke Center, and we really enjoy our community here. We're very tight-knit, and we like it that way.

I never knew they didn't allow advertising here, sorry. I just thought this would be the place for it. I guess I'll edit my post then. At least you explained it to me.

Yeah but you all suck. I'm sorry, I didn't want to say it because everyone here is nice and all...But in all honesty, you guys are acting like a bunch of *** holes to someone trying to actually make people better. Same thing happened when I offered information a while back.

There is probably one decent player here, that's Articanus, or on this site he's called SSJ something I think. If I were you guys I'd stop being arrogant *******s and accept help when it's offered. Because from what I see in these threads and the rating room, you guys really really need it. And I'm only being arrogant because your post made me mad. Go ahead and stay "tightly knit" and be all happy...Then go enter a tourney and you'll wish you accepted help when it was offered.

Most of us don't play Pokemon competitively. Matter of fact, I don't even think any of the Poke Center regulars do.

I never quite understood the competitive Pokemon scene. The farthest I ever got was selective breeding, egg moves, and EVs. After awhile, I felt like Hitler so I stopped.

I have to say I agree with the whole 'not accepting help' point. Some members here should know what I'm referring to >_>

Woo spam thread, a mod might close this by 2014 if we're lucky.

@ SkylerOcon: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

@ Tim: Play Shoddy Battle instead of d/p, you'll feel much more at ease.

@ Jesiah: As a player, I'd have to agree with you, but you can't force others to learn if they don't want to.

@ Firus: Serebii? Psh... Smogon's where it's at! ...Heh, this is like advertisement, isn't it?

@ Biggie: I don't really know you that well. o_o;; I just felt like replying to everyone! ^_^;;

@ Ilex: You have a legendary .gif in your sig!

Most of our community? Not about competitivity. We have the rating room, we have a knowledge of EVs and such, but if you'll notice, a lot of it is discussion about upcoming games or games that are already out, and a ton of it goes on in The Custom Pokemon Shop. Not exactly competitive stuff, huh?

No one asked for help, and if we're not playing competitively, we certainly don't need it. This guy was advertising, even he admitted that, not "You guys need help, here's some!" Besides, as I said, we're all aware of Serebii which offers perfectly fine advice if we need it. There's a forum there and a chat room which we can use for that if we want. Yes, there are other sites. But we have help, maybe we just aren't looking for it. And perhaps the teams and such in the Rating Room aren't great, but keep in mind that, again, we're not necessarily looking to enter tournaments.

We're not being arrogant. We're telling the guy he broke the rules. You need to change your attitude, that elitist attitude is exactly the kind of thing that made people like me think (at one point) that anyone who played Smash Bros competitively was a complete ***.

Most of us don't play Pokemon competitively. Matter of fact, I don't even think any of the Poke Center regulars do.
Exactly. I don't.

If you don't play competitively and you're over 13, I don't know what to say to you.
This is more of the elitist crap that really pisses me off. I don't play any game competitively, I enjoy single-player the most. Games like Metroid and Zelda are my absolute favorites. Pokemon is too, and I simply enjoy the single-player aspect the most. I understand EVs, IVs, etc. Most of us here do. But what, we're morons if we don't play competitively? Ugh. You make me sick.

I have to say I agree with the whole 'not accepting help' point. Some members here should know what I'm referring to >_>
Okay. I wasn't "not accepting" help, I believe I told you that. The way you presented it angered me. You insulted me. Remember one of your first posts in the thread, replying to my Ice Form Shaymin? I took that, and I will eventually redo it using that advice. You didn't insult me there, you gave me good critique and I really appreciate that. I may not have told you that, but I did. Trust me, there was a point in time in which I was asking everyone I knew for NOTHING BUT critique (although I got little to none of it). I can certainly take it.

Also, you've got to keep in mind that you caught me at a very stressful time. I was feeling overwhelmed by The Custom Pokemon Shop at that point, as I told you, and after putting in countless hours of doing the requests that had been made, I was a little short-tempered and not entirely pleased to have someone telling me that I had just made a crappy fusion. I overreacted, but you still presented it in the wrong way.

And if you weren't replying to me, I apologize (I'm a little on edge thanks to some of the elitists in here), but I'd bet money that it was referring to me.

the competative scene is what gives the games replay value.

without competative pokemon after i beat the elite 4 i would have been done with the game soon after. i beat the elite 4 in 32 hours. i know have 418 hours in the game. some are there due to me sometimes leaving the game on while i do other things.
my cusin stopped playing after beating the elite 4. after losing to my competative team he started playing again to make one for himself adding at least 10 hours of game time.
competative pokemon and trying to get all the pokemon are the only real reasons to continue playing after the elite 4 and the small things after them.

Except, I've been playing Pokemon since shortly after it came out in the USA, and I still play even the oldest games. If competitivity is the only thing that gives it replay value, then how do you figure how that works out? If multiplayer is the only way for me to enjoy playing the games further, then they're not very good, are they?

Just like I did with Metroid Fusion, I feel like I can enjoy the games a lot more by pushing its limits -- for example, I did a really fun playthrough of the game, using only Shaymin. It was partially to prove that Shaymin isn't weak, but it actually ended up being challenging and fun, like 1% runs in Metroid Fusion.

I'm a single-player kind of guy, I rarely even play against my friends, much less online. So if I can enjoy and continue playing the Pokemon games, then the competitive scene clearly isn't what gives the game its replay value. Don't make assumptions that, just because it's the replay value for you, that it's the only replay value.

Wow... this thing is getting way off topic. Biggie already said he was sorry for advertising so you guys can go create another thread to go rant or talk about whatever. :/

Well, I'd be perfectly willing to start a thread regarding competitivity but that's just ASKING for a flame war. Any elitists will come there and give their opinions, that the competitive scene is the only thing Pokemon has going for it, and then most of the Poke Center regulars will flame back, including me. It's pointless. Just, as long as people keep coming here and posting silly things like implying that there's something wrong with you if you're not involved in the competitive scene and are older than 13, or that we're all noobs and need to have help forced upon us, I'm going to keep replying to them, for I refuse to take such an insulting comment lying down.

I don't mean to be TRULY competitive, but I do like a little old-fashioned pokeshowdown once in a while. Either way were kindof in a tourney group, but hopefully it won't be TO competitive.

I'm not being elitist, I'm pointing out that you're playing the game the way it was intended for kids. You don't have to be an ******* about it and rant about how you don't play multiplayer games. I was infact offering help, there's that tutor/pupil relationshi I was talking about. I guess you're antisocial or something, not my business.

You say that as if you werent asking for one at the start, but look now. You replied to everyone on the thread with flames in most responses. Pokemon can be played like you don't know about competitive scenes, I respect that for the children. I don't care if you're in the competitive scene and are over 13, but if you're aware of it and the fun it can be, you might wanna stop watching Cartoon Network for that next episode of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

OK, nothing about what you mentioned, except one thing. ALL THE COMMON POKECENTER PEOPLE REALIZE THE STUPIDITY OF THE NEW DIAMOND AND PEARL CARTOON. Also a few people here are a little hostile (no offense) because there have been a couple spam threads. Who cares how others play pokemon. You may like to play competitively and Firus might not, but it doesnt matter, because thats how you as an individual decide to play the game.

This post is so full of ignorance it's not even funny. In fact, it's rather the opposite.

The fact that you think that the only way to play the game is to compete in tournaments and not do the single-player that much? That's what makes you elitist.

I play multiplayer games, but I enjoy single-player experiences more usually. Probably because I don't hang out with my friends 24/7 (because I have other things going on) and they're never online, and playing with strangers isn't as much fun. In that case, I might as well be playing against CPUs -- which I do.

And the fact that I'm antisocial because I don't play multiplayer games that much...ugh. You disgust me. You really disgust me. I don't know how to respond to that comment except flame you and throw every swear word I know at you, so I'm not even going to try replying to that completely ignorant comment.

I replied with angered posts to most people in the thread, yes. I did not ask for a flame war. I am the type of person who stands up for themself, so naturally when I'm told I suck and there's something inexcuseable about not playing competitively when you're over thirteen, I replied to defend myself. Yes, I basically flamed back but I think that that post by JesiahTEG was the post asking for a flame war, not mine. I was replying to that. You know just as well as I do that creating a separate topic about "Competitive vs. Non-Competitive" would be starting the flame war. I'm not for starting flame wars, just replying to those flaming me. When all of the elitists here take their opinions about the best way to play and accept that they are their opinions and not rules to live by, I'm not going to keep anything going. But I will keep responding to these degrading posts until you stop because they're ignorant and it annoys me. I don't appreciate being told I'm immature or...something because I don't play the way you do. That is as elitist as it gets.

No offense taken zrky, but really why I'm hostile is because I'm being patronized for not playing the way I'm "supposed" to play.

I know about the competitive scene. I EV train my Pokemon. I know about Egg Moves, IVs, etc. etc. I'm aware of all of that stuff, and do it. I just do it in the single-player mode.

I don't like competing in tournaments, honestly. Maybe it's because I know deep down that I suck at every video game, no matter how much I like to think I'm good after playing video games since the Sega Genesis. But in any case, I don't like playing in tournaments. That doesn't mean I watch Pokemon Diamond/Pearl on Cartoon Network, I haven't watched the Pokemon TV Show since the early Johto episodes. The fact that I'd have to be under 13 to not compete at things in your opinion is the most appalling thing I think I've ever heard someone say on these boards. The fact that you don't think you're elitist only makes it worse.

Honestly, your whole attitude is so shocking that I can't even do anything but try to figure out where the hell you got these ideas in your head.
You need to go outside and take a deep breath and enter the real world where not everyone has to do what you think is best. To each his own. If you want to compete in tournaments, fine. I don't. I prefer playing single-player and pushing the limits there. And despite what you think, we're both allowed to play as we want without having to be a little kid. I'm honestly a little surprised that you're older than thirteen with the way you're acting.

I really don't have a problem with competitivity, not at all. I stand up for competitive Smash Players especially since Sakurai tried to kill that community with Brawl. But I have a problem with elitists. Whether they're telling you to only play with items on and gimmick stages, or telling you to only play no items, Fox only, Final Destination, (or in this case, compete unless you're a child) it's awful. You're insulting everyone who doesn't play competitively, and that's not right.

Too much tl;dr, and over one post. I'm not trying to be an *******, just stop flaming. Can't we all get along?-Notorious B.I.G "Party & Bull****".

Well you're doing a hell of a job being one. And the fact that you're acting like the injured party here ("Can't we all just get along?") only irks me more. You're the one who started insulting people who don't like to compete, and I take umbrage to that. I'm not going to lie down and take insults from you and basically say I'm the one who's wronging you because...whatever came over you came over you.

By the way, I'm not flaming. I'm posting angrily, but I believe you're the one flaming.
Here's the Wikipedia definition of flaming for you. I'm defending myself, not attacking you mindlessly.

And you said tl;dr so you've officially lost my respect. That's a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate people that are too lazy to read. It's not that long, take the five minutes to read it. It's not mindless flaming, I'm legitimately complaining about what you're saying.

And fine, if you're too lazy to read I'll shorten it.

The fact that you think that the only way to play the game is to compete in tournaments and not do the single-player that much? That's what makes you elitist.

And I'm not anti-social because I like single-player more. I have friends, I talk to people, but I enjoy single-player more for most games. Plus, do you even know what "anti-social" means? Clearly not, because it means something completely different from what would apply there.

You've got to draw a line in your opinions. "Over thirteen and not competitive" doesn't mean "watches the Pokemon Anime". You're degrading me because I don't play the way you do, which is the definition of elitist.

Now I'm biased? I'm saying you're allowed to play how you want just as much as I am. You're the one saying you'd have to be childish to play any way except for the way you want to play.

Also, why am I getting criticized for making constructive posts? Is it "in" now to post one-liners? This is a forum, not Instant Messanging. I take pride in long, thought-out posts.

People are making fools of themselves, not me. Saying "lol" and nothing else every time I post is pointless.

What screwed up world is it that I'm the moron for defending the way I play, without telling anyone else to play my way? The whole Poke Center was attacked (All of us suck except for one person, whom I've never seen here?) and I'm defending everyone and this is what I get? Laughed at? Screw this.

Defend yourselves.

I don't remember who, the first person to go elitist in the thread posted their name and said that they're the only person that's good, the rest of us suck.

Most of the people reading this thread are Pokecenter regulars. No one is laughing at you. In fact, I support you even if I haven't posted to show it (I don't like entering flame wars). I just think you started off a little too strong with the "no advertising" thing, and then the thread went to ****.

Oh, and it was Jesiah who named Articanus (aka ss118) as the only good player. And yes, both of them ARE very good, most likely better than the rest of us here (in the competitive scene). You don't have to take offense at not being called "good" if you're not into the competitive aspect of the game.

@Biggie Smalls: Hi. Thanks for the offer to tutor, but most of the members here aren't competitive players. The rest of us already have accounts at smogon/serebii. And...there's that advertising rule you should know about...yeah. Sorry if this thread gave you a bad impression of us here, we've just been getting more spam threads lately. But please don't flame the non-competitive players.

So, um....peace?
