yeah those are smaller than the others, you will find.

cerathil i just bought a 50 pack for 9.99 at office depot.
you don't have to get quality dvds or anything as only 1.35 gb of the disc is going to be used.

are .ssm files from an ISO interchangeable between *** and US?

in other words, is it okay if I put the Princess Rosalina .ssm hack into us audio?

just wondering

^ 'fraid not, peyudosmith, or else I would've released a US version with the JP version. It's because there are some files in the .ssm that have different lengths (the "Go Peach!" chants in both languages being very differently sized).
I DO believe a US Rosalina package was released somewhere, though.

ssm files are interchangeable in the sense that the game will read any ssm file (the same way it will read any hps file) without any specific ties to whatever.
since we don't have a ssm file with really long sounds for everything, unfortunately we're going to have to learn how to build our own ssm files soon.

but the japanese and english .ssm files are not interchangeable if you want the sound effects to be coherent.

make sure to replace the correct language pack. if it's the japanese one, replace it in the main folder.
if it's the american one, replace it in the US folder.
just watch all my guides.

All righty, so. For those of you who are running custom stuff (long music files and all that), I need your opinions on this.

With the right bit of tinkering, I was able to create a "custom" HPS file that is only ~430 seconds in length, and I'll be making that my BASE HPS file from hereon, only 15MB (versus the 30MB fifteen minute HPS file base).

I was wondering if anyone would like me to upload that, or if there is another preferred size [under 15 min] that you all would like to use for music bases in your customizations. :)

Really, I'll keep using the 15 minute HPS unless an 8 minute one is made, because none of my matches goes above that point (tournament standard and all that).

edit - Okay, so after doing math it appears that 430 seconds is just over 7 minutes. That's actually kind of good.

See how this works out. Made a ~501s audio file (roughly 8 min 19 s); goes just over tournament standard, but added some extra seconds just in case you have to pause the match due to an epic KO or two. :p
Also, I've made it so the file automatically loops back to the beginning; if you want to mess with looping just in case you are paused longer than 20s, feel free. :)

since my requests have been pushed back like 10 pages and probably all forgotten im gonna be a bit darey and request them another time =P

the songs i want is plain asia, megaman 2 chillout and fang of critias

plain asia and megaman needs no fancy looping at all, just have it restart when it ends, fang of critias needs to loop since its only 1:37 long but if its too hard dont bother with it =)

I guess you did those with the easy mode. I would like both Pendulum tracks and Clubbed to Death since I was going to do them myself so I save time.

thanks

Good Goddess, music swapping for Melee is so much more cumbersome than for Brawl. So I was wondering if someone who already knows how to and who's already got it down pat could help me fulfill my request of swapping for songs for their rough Brawl equivalents.

I'm requesting the following songs for the following stages:
* Menu - X02 - Menu 1 & X03 - Menu 2
* Battlefield - X04 - Battlefield
* Brinstar - D01 - Main Theme (Metroid)
* Corneria - G02 - Corneria (though I believe this has already been done, according to the OP, I'm gonna download it and test it in a minute)
* Final Destination - X05 - Final Destination
* Fountain of Dreams - F02 - King Dedede's Theme
* Green Greens - F04 - Butter Building
* Jungle Japes - B01 - Jungle Level Ver.2
* Mute City - I01 - Mute City
* Onett - K08 - Mother 3 Love Theme
* Poké Floats - H05 - Wild Pokemon Battle! (Ruby / Sapphire)
* Pokémon Stadium - H01 - Pokemon Blue & Red - Main theme & H04 - Pokemon Gym / Evolution
* Rainbow Cruise - A23 - Rainbow Road
* Yoshi's Story - E01 - Ending (Yoshi's Story)
* Past Stages: Dream Land - F05 - Gourmet Race
* Past Stages: Kongo Jungle - B06 - Bramble Blast

(I'm not requesting replacements for the hard-banned and semi-hard-banned stages since I'll never ever play on them, anyway)

Of course all songs need to loop correctly, etc. I'm Swedish so I play the PAL version, but I don't think that really matters when it comes to stage music.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I'll love you forever if you do this for me. Besides, I think a lot of other people would like this done as well.

no need to justify requests.
you could do this yourself easily tbh by rebuilding your own iso using my video tutorials <_<

Yes, I know, I understand the tutorial, it's just really, really cumbersome (read: Time consuming). I just came off a 1 1/2 week project where I switched out 86 of the songs in Brawl, and that was much easier since it did not involve Hex Editing or splitting up the channels and I'm just a bit beat and tired of audio swapping.

I'm also planning on doing audio swapping for Naruto Shippudden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 European Version (thankfully, it also only has, like, 15 stages, each with only one BGM each).

In other words, too much, too little time, too little energy :p.

i see. still, your requests would probably require you to rebuild an iso in the first place (assuming you want the songs to be full length.. you'd have to use a longer hps to begin with).

Yes, I would rebuild the ISOs. I'm assuming that's what you have to do no matter what, seeing as how there's no way of USB loading for GC as far as I know?

Or do you mean that the ISO would exceed a GC game's maximum file size? I can just swap in some dummy movies (that's what I did for Brawl) to reduce file size. It's "only" 17 songs, most of which are only approximately 2.5 minutes long. They can't be that big.

I just added Menu 1 and 2 to the request, BTW. Forgot to request menu music.

yes, i made several video tutorials that cover how to do it for melee. the dummy files and everything.
in the early stages of melee hacking, we were limited by the length of the stage song so it would match up to the disc size. we replaced the files with a program called gc-tool

after steelia posted the gamecube rebuilder, we figured out that you can just use any .hps (btrsm for gc) on the disc. since we don't know how to build our own hps headers yet, i made an ISO that had everything already replaced. since you are using a PAL iso, you would have to go through the process on your own.

or i guess i could do it again if you're too burned out with hacking stuff. i'm pretty sure i could find a pal iso.

hey, sleepy, wondering if you can make some stage songs for me. I have them all uploaded in one .zip at http://www.filefront.com/16037481/melee songs.zip

The songs are

Shining - in the kingdom of kitsch you will be a monster
Opeth - deliverance
Battleheart (alestorm) - no quarter
Between the buried and me - ants of the sky
Cannibal corpse - hammer smashed face
Dj eggs - chilly fo silly
Ihsahn - a grave inversed
Snoop dogg - drop it like it's hot (kirby)

Thanks for anyone who does this for me
yeah, I'm using your ISO as well
I think that most of my songs are already somewhat smooth transitioning on their own. How about if the songs shorter than 8:00 (ihsahn, shining, cannibal corpse battleheart and kirby) then could you find a good looping point?
