Spife, will you be able to record my new tech at Mass Madness? I just need you to capture the video of it happening and then send me the gameplay footage.

Yeah no problem...hell I'll BRING a thumb drive you can borrow. I'll just need it back (less it's the 256 mb one then I'd just "like it back")

Why would you prepare for Link lawl.

If they can't sdi shine consistently just waveshine him a bunch across the stage into D-smash after like 30 and then edgeguard lawl.

And run around waiting for him to do something that's not nair and is therefore punishable.

basically when i'm getting waveshine I sdi and di in to mix it up.

sometimes i get away from waveshines by Di'ing in so i end up behind him after like two shine but now he

read my di so i mix it up.

btw i link in toronto.

Gameset and 4Serial lives near toronto so we have like 3 Link mains here.

Also David play RaynEx's Fox with your Link. basically once your out of the edge your dead =(

And now hes on the way finding a counter for FJ Nair DJ.

from what i know hes going to punish right when Link DJs. Though you can FJ Nair + Nair + buffer roll but then Links

roll is to slow and predictable. so right now stos is lost =(

if i played RaynEX i'd mostly space fair, full jump nair, and try to keep him out with disjointed hitbox and then somehow land an u-tilt. and cc u-tilt. and space jab. link's jab is surprisingly amazing. if he's trying to react to my dj nair i'd probably refrain from doing that altogether and just try to fj nair uair or something.

but yeah i'd probably get ***** :/

1. How useful is Sklering? You know, the ledge hop --> waveland --> jump --> pull bomb -- ledgegrab. Looks pretty useful...just want some 3rd person opinion.

2. How would you get away from Sheik's chaingrab?

3. Is there a way to quickly move from a jab/2-hit slash to a grab by crouching? Or is it all timing? I have trouble with this one; I would jab, then hit Z for the grab, but then the second slash comes out. I'm probably hitting too early...

4. What would you do for a Klondike bar?

To be honest, it isn't all that useful. If they're far enough so they can't punish the pull -> regrab it's a good idea, but usually people get really close on the edge.

2. How would you get away from Sheik's chaingrab?
Either DI to the edge of the stage or get under a semi-low platform (Yoshi's Story, PS, Battlefield and FoD all have platforms you can tech on during the CG).

3. Is there a way to quickly move from a jab/2-hit slash to a grab by crouching? Or is it all timing? I have trouble with this one; I would jab, then hit Z for the grab, but then the second slash comes out. I'm probably hitting too early...
The crouch thing helps you know the timing, I suggest you hold down crouch and time the press. If you know the timing you don't need to crouch though.

4. What would you do for a Klondike bar?
Kill a man.

Hey Skler I am a new player to melee and have always been a LoZ fan so I kind of forced myself to get good with link, however I am still new so I don't have many in depth questions as I am still learning basics. I do however have one question. I have been playing everyday for atleast a couple hours with a pretty **** good Y. Link, have played Sethlon, and G@be ( they go to the same school as me), i was even able to get 2 stocks off of seth, even if it was blind luck or whatnot I was pretty happy. One of my best friends though isn't a serious player. he maybe plays once every 3 weeks, has a c-stick addicted marth ( if hes not using that it's sword dancing ), and for the life of me I can't beat him. It pisses me off because I train really hard everyday and I KNOW I am better than him. he has no strategy, knows no AT's, but because of his broken character ( no offense to marth users ) I can never beat him whether I use Link or sheik ( the first character I picked up ). I am sure this sounds dumb and makes me sound like a total mediocre nub, but that's why I came, so that you may shine some of your knowledge upon me. Thank you for taking the time to read this mini-rant!! :p

Beating a fsmash happy Marth shouldn't be too tough. You can spam him and play it campy or approach him in your shield and just shield grab his fsmash (as long as it isn't tipped you can grab it). From the grab you can do plenty of combos depending on his %, and at high %s you can combo into a kill move from the dthrow (or at least get him off the edge with a nair from it).

@hihi- The crouch serves as a JC too (in the sense that it cancels the window for the second jab if there is any after the lag, I know samus does this a lot for first jab -> first jab), as soon as the lag ends you see Link going to a knee and just hit Z. Plus, it rhymes.

Best way to kill scrubby Marths as Link:

Throw projectiles. Lots of projectiles. When he approaches, shieldgrab. Then dthrow to Spin Attack. Repeat.

Ice cream is delicious. I'm going to try and record/upload the video of the new tech today. Bad news though, it only works on the original version of smash (the one with flame canceling).

Heh, I'd say it's 50/50 but I'm not the one who wanted something recorded :p so 65/35. Anyhoo when is It's a Longshot 2 coming out? Can I just name my combo video that and claim I'm you? I don't know who that'll hurt more, probably me cause I wont get credit for any of my SUPER WACKTASTIC COMBOS!!!!

Hmmm upon first review I was excited. Upon thinking about it though I am a little worried. You use your hookshot on this. Revision: You waste your hookshot with this. Also, if you COULD have recovered but tried this on a non ver. 1.0 you just lost a stock for some fancy pancy magic dancy right there. It's ****ing awesome though, but again, can you kill with this at 900+% as soon as they have broken free?! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!

In all seriousness great find, I think it's too situational for my tastes but I'll **** around with it. I think if I would have to go around and figure out which set ups I could do it at and which ones I can't before I have a tourny set though >.> And knowing me I'd mess up and lose my hook shot but I guess if you mess up anything like that you wont get back.

You can check the version before the match, and you can always request a ver 1.0 (the version tournaments are supposed to be run using, technically). The reason I had the practical application part on DK 64 is because that's the sort of stage it becomes really useful. On stages where you can hook the edge it isn't really helpful although you can glitch with it on those stages, giving you two upBs sometimes and other weird stuff.

Yeah, I've had it glitch into giving me two upBs. The first one happens while you're still connected to the hookshot (it can only take you as high as the hookshot allows I think) and the second one is after you get disconnected and can take you to full height. I'm working on figuring out every variation of the tech, there's one that involves using a weak throw. Anyways, discuss this in the tech's thread, not this one.
