I have the same thing Bing, I was gonna go but had a last minute e-mail on an exam time change. :| So glad I hadn't booked my tickets at that point, but still really annoyed about it.

This has almost definitely been figured out before, I'm sure, but from the ledge on battlefield you can platform cancel relatively easily with the side platforms. If you drop the right amount then go straight up then diagonally (I believe it's 45 degrees on the dot, not certain though) you'll cancel it. It's not that hard to do consistently at all, actually. The only difficult part is knowing exactly how low to drop. Like I said, I'm sure this has been figured out before, but it was news to me so I figured I'd share it in case some other people are foolishly unaware like I was.

Surprisingly it's easier to go under Dreamland than it is Battlefield. Kind of interesting lol.

@Captain Smuckers: I'm kinda having trouble understanding exactly where you edge cancel your up b at in your post =/ Confused lol

i think he means you ledgehog, drop down, up+b up, and then diagonal up. and as you fall down you'll edgecancel the inner edge of the platform

Sorry about that Axe lol, basically what Dkuo said. Grab the ledge (for the sake of me explaining it, you grab the left side edge). Now, drop down from the ledge a fair amount. Now use up+B straight up, then do the second zip diagonally at roughly a 45 degree angle to the right. If done properly, you will ledge cancel off of the left side platform of battlefield towards the middle of the stage.

I kinda figured battlefield would be harder because it's harder to really get the side B to work well. You could easily drop down far too low, I would think. Granted, it's not useful in the slightest, so I guess it doesn't matter anyway lol.

watching axe's combo videos makes me regret not being a pikachu main. looks more fun than marth even. To play the best chars or play the most fun characters...

As of right now, marth is probably the most fun character to play for me. Dunno why, all of a sudden I just started really enjoying him. I don't intend to main him or anything though. Gonna keep him in the pokeball for now.

What is the team Pika/Peach like?
from the peach's perspective i imagine its kind of like teaming with a fox that you dont have to worry about saving as much, but you have to be more proactive than if you were playing with fox since you're the better character.

its odd since both characters usually play support in teams...i suggest you guys stick close together.

also dsmash party :bee: lol

Axe = God Tier for overall cool peeps

Probably influenced my overall mindset of the game. Quote from Apex 2012 upon the bazillion questions I had for him:

"L-canceling is just one thing. Everyone can L-cancel. It's all the little things that add up to one big thing." - Axe

So this isn't really a Pika question, but Axe, what's your method for shield dropping consistently? I've been trying to start using it but it's so hard to do on command. I've been trying just tilting downwards. Wenbo told me to push the stick slightly forward and slightly down but that's also really hard.

lol vman

im not axe but im pretty sure he does side > diagonal down like wenbo said. its not really a slight movement imo, you tilt your shield all the way to the side and then tilt it downwards fully into the 45° angle.

with that said, if your controller is worn in it's really really really hard to do shield drops in any manner because the octagonal gate for the control stick will be super worn in and none of the angling movements will be consistent...on a brand new controller, shield dropping is almost a tactile movement

If you do the reverse Hadouken motion (Forward to down on joystick), it should work very well. I guess the tough part is getting the speed of that motion down, you cant do it too fast or too slow.

I'm always amazed at how few people use shield dropping. Scratch that, at how few people even try to use it. By no means am I amazing at it or anything, but as soon as I found out about it and how useful it was, I started practicing it immediately.

Also Vman you're totally right, shield dropping (up air, specifically) is so broken as yoshi lol.

Double also, Dkuo are you like, literally only going to play falco the entire event or do you just mean for the actual tournament aspect?

you can shield drop instant fc nair. it's faster than default fc nair oos by ~6 frames and you land on the platform faster.

this is now your info and your info alone. treasure it and it will propel you to greatness.

i just press the control stick halfway down, between neutral and all the way into the down notch. that's only way i'm able to do it consistently.
