14-year-old girl with a history of serious health issues lay dying of pneumonia in a hospital room. But as her mother waited for the girl to take her last breath, an image of bright light appeared on a security monitor. Within an hour, the dying girl began a recovery that doctors are at a loss to explain.

But Colleen Banton, the girl's mother, has an explanation. “This was an image of an angel,” she told NBC News in a story reported Tuesday on TODAY. She credited the apparition with saving the life of her daughter Chelsea.
Wow! Good for her, this is a really feel-good story. Do you believe in angels?
It certainly is an odd occurrence, but it's a great thing

Wonderous, I always asked myself. What is an angel? Where do they reside? Who do they serve?
Still, It is extraordinary and a 'magical' event. I do believe in the supernatural, just not if they are divine or just there to help.

Like almost everyone else in this thread, I don't believe this was the work of an angel or anything of the sort, but this is still great news nevertheless.

I believe in angels...but not these kind. That looks too much like a stereotypical angel. Big wings, halo the works. I dunno this is kinda weird but good news any ways.

Just because it doesn't happen often, it's not real? That's a nice thought.
Well, if it was an angel, and they have this kind of ability, and could presumably do it whenever they wanted, don't you think it would happen all the time? I mean, why just let innocent, disabled children die at such a young age if you have the power to stop it?

If it is real, then there are a lot of people who have been taken off life support who got an extremely raw deal. Where were their angels?

Regardless of what happened, yes, I guess it's nice that the girl lived. But based on what the mother said in the video, it seems like she's still not expected to live much longer. So isn't this just delaying the inevitable? I can't help but feel like this is kind of cruel. Because all this really means is that the girl's going to be right back in this situation in a couple of years, and the family is going to have to grieve all over again. I don't know. I suppose it's ultimately a good thing.

i for one actually believe in angels. but lets say i am an athiest and i am right. nothing to be proud of. but lets say i am an athiest and i am wrong.I am going to hell. so the best thing to do in any matter is to believe (and that did not inspire my Cristianity, just reinforced it)

These are the biggest ******* angels EVER. On Christmas Eve, they cure ONE teenager out of the millions who are sick and dying?

In all seriousness, it's bull****. They have no problem saying this is the work of god or an angel when the girl does better, but if she got sick and died, as many, many, many other children do daily, the mother would either blame doctors for failing or say "it's god's will."

When you have a stance on god that anything good that happens is him, it's hard to reach for bull**** like this. Also, the child still looked pretty disabled to me, so she wasn't cured, she overcame pneumonia.

Actually, if you are an atheist and know nothing happens when you die, then all your actions are honest. I am a good person, but I do not believe in god, so when I do something good, I do it because I feel like it. You are saying "I better believe or I will burn in hell," and that means I am believing out of fear. I'd rather die and burn in hell than "love" a god out of fear.

Do you really think that's a good reason to believe in something? Just because you view it as the "safe" choice (it's not, but for the sake of keeping things simple)?

You act as if you have a choice in what you believe in. You don't. Your believe system forms on it's own, based off of all the knowledge you've gathered in your life. I can't just start believing in angels because I want to.

This thread is totally getting locked....

Why? is it bad to believe in something? Who knows what it was, or if it had anything to do with it, but you never know.
Mainly, because there is no real evidence for the occurrence. It could of been anything to do with lighting.
It is the term 'angel' and the coincidence that the child became better that ticked him off.
Until actual evidence is proven to refute the disbelievers (Like us), then there is no reason we should believe that it was an 'angel'.

I don't think it matters if it was an angel or not, or if it was divine purpose or not, or has a scientific basis or not. It was not expected and worked in a great way, so I consider it a miracle and I'm happy for her and her family. I suffered the lost of a family member before, so I'm glad they don't have to go through the same thing.

Have you ever heard of the saying, "I'd rather have a archenemy then a friend that betrays me."?
All you are saying is that you 'believe' in a God and Jesus being a savor to save your own fear and patheticness. This is not a excuse to anything, it is stupid and pathetic. It isn't believing, it is manipulating your subconscious from your anxiety from death.

Quite, though there is no sense in trying to disagree in a statement of an 'angel' (Or for that matter a 'demon'), mainly because we have no experiance in death, there is no evidence of a eternal resting place nor a perminant 'sleep'. Assuming either or is still ignorant.

It says in the torah that God does not send miracles very often because he wants the human race to not depend on them, however there are certain curcimstances that man cannot do without a miracle. Maybe 'God' does have a plan for those who died, I woulding doubt it since he would know everything, every death, life, and event.

Basically, for all of you, tolerence. Sometimes we need to take common sense in account, and other times we need to shut up, nod, and feel grateful what happend. Divine or not.

Karma itself is a miracle. Having a next good life because of being virtuous in another? Seems like a miracle to me. Either way, you just contradicted yourself.

I want to have sex with Mazaloth.

Relevant to the topic: I hope the girl stays on a track to getting healthier and doesn't have to put up with this much longer...

What you're referring to is called "Pascal's Wager" (look it up on Wiki), and unlike your description of it, it does have flaws.

Guys its the Work of Celestial Being. They intervene stuff to make it better, but in the end they delay the inevitable.

Too be honest i see no difference...

Though like Mazaloth said miracles happen rarely so we don't depend on them. I seriously doubt this is a work of a angel but its just that like CK said got over pneumonia. Too be honest if it was a work of an angel it's just delaying the inevitable it so they have one more Christmas to spend together.

Wow this story is very far fetched and why would this child need to be saved out of all the other thousands of dying children, why haven't incidents like this been reported before. Kinda crazy either way tho, I wonder what actually saved her.

If a god would send an angel to save a dying girl from pneumonia, why hasn't he done that to the other millions of innocent children that've died from illness?

God isn't perfect if you believe this story. It's a contradiction of Christianity.
