Hey all, I was sent by Random_Guy_42 to talk to you all.
Now before you go flaming me up the *** for what I did, know that I never meant to harm anyone, or cause trouble. I did this in a time where we had no new information, no daily blog, just the bare minimum.
I think its best if I tell the whole story from the beginning, as every time I see someone allude to it, it becomes more distant from the exact truth. I did not do it for epic lulz, and although I could have easily set up history's biggest Rick Roll, I didn't. I'm not that kind of person.
Alright. So. Imagine a world where there is no daily update on Brawl, and all you have is the E3 trailer and the Nintendo World trailer. This was back when any mention of the Dojo was just a mumble, just speculation, lost in the crowd of Geno and Sonic debates. Understand this. Embrace this.
I consistently saw people citing false information about Brawl, making things up, and so forth, and it was all getting a tad boring. With this in mind, I posted the fun fact sheet. No wait, let me back up some more. First, I posted a topic on GameFAQs saying I would be interviewing someone tied with the development of the game. If anyone were to ask me today (as my imaginary NDA would have expired, since people don't even question those things, no one really understands how they would work in this situation), I would have said Nate Bihldorff. Simple. So, instead of just pulling complete and utter bullcrap out of my butt, I told the GF users to submit questions for me to ask. People were already suspicious, and I applaud them for that. The SSBB community was much less gullible then, but much more vulnerable. So anyways, common questions back then were about alternate costumes, third parties, and number of characters. So, in one fell swoop, I answered the most popular questions using MOSTLY INFORMATION THAT WAS ALREADY AVAILABLE. That's right. The reason I was able to "predict" so many things is because I had so many obscure, but reliable sources to just sort of cop information from. For things that weren't the least bit addressed, I used common sense. Of course there would be multiple control schemes, Gamecube controllers were all but confirmed, and Nintendo would HAVE to have an option to play with the main controller. It was a matter of months before I was proven right, and the fact that there were 4 options of control, made me seem more credible...but again, I have gotten ahead of myself.
Shortly after I posted this sheet, which also included information about other Nintendo games, people were bent on discrediting me. This would lead to the longest, and ugliest revolt against a "leak", that I ever recall happening. Some guy, I forget his name, Soal2Soul or something, found my AIM and googled it. Now, don't be under the impression that this guy was some sort of super-sleuth. He wasn't. He literally just clicked my username on GameFAQs and googled the AIM SN inside. That led him to a friend's myspace. That friend's myspace led to a band myspace I used to be a part of in 8th grade. At first, people were under the impression that I was in middle school, but it got uglier. In the midst of all the photoshops of me, someone got a little too hardcore and posted my phone number and address, and birth information. He even said that the reason I did all that was to raise traffic for my blog for revenue (blog.com is free ><). It confirmed that I was 16, but this was nothing new. Anyone around for the original topic already knew that. Then I got pissed. He proceeded to spam comments on that same blog, on forums, and everything, posting his factual information (the fact that I was sixteen), along with absolute lies. This is the only reason my lie got blown out of hand. I apologize for being so immature, and the arduous months afterward, but I got mad. I refused to give up my position from then on. I knew no one could prove me wrong, at least for another few months, so I got stubborn. I went as far as to turn the tables on the guy who dug up my information, and found out that he had parental controls on his screenname, quite embarrassing for him, which he deserved, but I digress. Meanwhile, apparently, I was causing a ruckus throughout the net, including here. Again, I apologize. People even defended me, and if there is one thing I could change about the whole situation, it would be that. Anyone present might have noticed an unusual lack of thanks for my supporters, but that is because I felt deeply guilty anytime someone showed support for me. That is why I never thanked them. If you are one of the people who defended me until the end, just to be betrayed, know that I never meant for that to happen, and you didn't deserve it.
So anyways, for months, ESPECIALLY the day of the multiple control options update. June 8th was dubbed Nintendrone Day on GameFAQs because there were so many topics concerning me, the second ___-Day made because of me. The first, of course, being May Day. However, it was at this time, the time where I was most credible, that I felt the worst. So I simply decided to man-up. The end result is I have three kinds of e-mail guaranteed to be waiting for me everyday I check it: Flames, "leaks", and beggars. And whenever I post on GameFAQs, I get *****.
Ironically enough, I would later coin the term "prophet" in the context of Brawl in an argument where I was attempting to debunk someone. The topic went something like:
"I don't understand how people are doubtful when CoroCoro, a reputable magazine who has closer ties to Nintendo than most Nintendo employees, says November 22nd is the Japanese release date, but when a random person (DryBones22 or whatever, the first "Leak"er other than me) comes along and says he knows the roster, people are like "ZOMG PROPHET"
The replies went
"1. Roster
2. ???
3. Prophet"
C-C-C-Combo Breaker!"
And so on. Typical GameFAQs stuff.
Er....anyways. I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused, but I can assure you I won't do it again. By the way, the Prima leak thing...I don't run The Nintendrone blog anymore. Anytime I post, it says (Nintendrone) in the title of the post. I get tons of leaks everyday, but since I'm not an outright idiot, I know that they are all (probably) fake, so I don't bother posting. However, for whatever reason, the person who runs the blog now decided to post that particular rumor.
By the way, ShadowXOR is a phony.
