Can't we flip a coin for controller points or something. I can't handle rock, paper, scissors

Just get yourself a long sleeve blue sweater, a baseball cap and a long brown wig and you'd be good to go.

Anyone know the relationship of velocity vs mass? I know v decreases as m increases but is there a formula that shows its relationship? D:

Lol posted lab questions in albreada thread.

velocity and mass?
lol they're unrelated
isn't that something you would have observed in the lab and then graphed to find a relationship?

i've been trying to say this forever. if you're cool you'll read it and give it a shot
This reminds me of the kinds of threads that pop up on the Yoshi boards every now and again. Ever since I started playing competitively, I've been trying to think like this, choosing my options carefully as I go. I think it has helped me improve, but I still often feel as though I'm making hasty movements. Sometimes, I'll think of a strategy I want to implement in a match, but when I go to carry it out, my reflexes take over and I get myself punished. I don't mean fixed combos (whenever I string attacks together, I'm just making stuff up as I go), but I try to analyze my opponent's habits and come up with ways to get around it.

Good read.

brawl players make me rage

I know I'm a couple pages behind, but since when does anyone that plays melee complain about the stages? Why should melee's rules change because brawl's did? Why are brawl players discussing the rules of melee?

lol I love how all the melee players are so conservative and how all the brawl players prefer change
I'm sorry but brawl changed one rule, it's not like metaknight is getting banned or anything.

Well clearly pe ople don't feel the same way, Victor; everybody that I've spoken to so far (excluding you and Brad) have all agreed that stage striking, while perhaps toocomplex for Melee, does offer more fairness and makes cp'ing more dynamic.
Who did you talk to? Do you even play melee?

Melee players make me rage

Wtf is with all the melee players whining and *****ing over a completely reasonable rule that adds more to the game?

EDIT: Actually it seems to be mainly Calgary. You guys are lame.

I've always wondered why people get so analytical with these games. I used to read that stuff all the time thinking it would help me, but honestly I think its better if you just let your subconcious absorb every angle and perspective of the game, until you get to the point where you figure things out your own way, with your own individual mind.

everyone's brain is different, and trying to adopt someone elses pattern of thinking is like completely relearning how to ride a bike because the way you learned it was wrong
Like, I type in a horribly wrong way, where my finger positions are wayyy different from the "normal" position of having both index fingers on F and J Yet I can type just as fast as anyone else.

Its kinda like sirlin's philosophy of fighting game characters, defined as a bunch of towering plateaus in the background, representing the depth of the characters.
(ok wow, i'm making an analogy of an analogy)

Just because one person's style of thinking has a very tall plateau from your view does not mean your own style of thinking is beneath them, it just means you haven't reached the top of your own plateau yet. And as long as people keep climbing their own indifidual plateaus instead of centralizing to the one big plateau, the depth of a game will never die.

Switching your own style of thinking to match the guy that is better than you is like switching your main to Shiek because his shiek is better than your marth.

If you can get to the point where you feel like writing one of those threads about how your way of thinking should be adopted by everyone else, like this, good for you, you are original and stayed true to your own brain. If you're the guy that adopts other people's thinking patterns because they are better than you, then you're a follower, and you'll never reach the top, because the person you're following will always be ahead of you.

NO TLDR 4 U

edit: jesus, how did this get so huge LOL

jarrett i already agree with what he posted. i'm not changing my playstyle or even my way of thinking or anything.

i posted it because i've been saying forever that brawl is a completely different game. not inferior - different. i tried to explain to victor once how i thought brawl was "deeper" in a sense, and didn't do a very good job of it.
