And RDK, I'd sooner pay you 5 dollars to not team with Aaryk, than to team with Aaryk in a 5 dollar moneymatch lol

$1 Blind MM with Joshu (my stage pick this time!)
$10 ROB vs. Snake 2/3 with WGW
$10 ROB vs. Kirby 2/3 with RDK
$5 3 character ironman with Bloodhawk
$1 Falcon ditto on Shadow Moses, 1 stock, Falcon Punch only with Bloodhawk
$1 ? vs. ? 2/3 with Blueblade
$1 Random vs. Random with RDK

----all below are mebbes---

$1 Melee my ? vs. WGW's Bowser
$5 ROB vs. Wario with Tink

I'll do the other MMs if I have time and I don't lose my other MMs. I don't want to go below $25 in MMs, and probably won't take enough cash to enter both tournaments and play all the MMs. Just warning you guys so if I have a bad day and lose like $60 on both days you don't expect an MM :p

Yo, how did you decide that you would choose your opponent's character in a money match?

I am able to play about 3 characters - none of which happen to be bowser or yoshi , but consequentially i will also not be listing them for you =)

Xlaurousislx - $5 - (any) vs (any)
WGWolverine - $5 - (any) vs (any)
Overswarm - $5 - rematch same characters.

2/3s please
haha I assumed that you used Bowser *looks at character thingy by your name*

I'll keep in mind not to make silly accusations like that ^.^

Out of curiosity, what is the number speculated? Marion looks like it will have about 20 people, all of which I believe are going to your tournament!!!!! O_O

Okay guys. I need A LOT OF HELP HERE!!!:urg:
My paratner for doubles can't make it, and even though I will do singles, I really want to do doubles. So, does snybody out there not have a partner, and wants to team up with me?

You would have to pay for your own double entry ($10), but I'll pay the other half of course.
I'll even sweeten the deal. If you want, you can meet me tonight on wi-fi for a few quick battles. I'll use my mains, and when I'm done, you can decide which of my mains you want me to use on the big day.

If you are interested, PM me as soon as possible.

Also, here's my AIM: AltroxianWarrior

Thanks, but if possible, I'd like to know from him ASAP.
And I'm open until I get the first "for sure" from somebody.

My neighbors just approached me saying if I do not change the date so that it does not coincide with their family reunion, they will run me in for hosting underage gambling, and for not getting insurance or something? What the **** is that? They say I need insurance, waivers, and all this legal ****. Have any hosts ever had such pushback from the community?

Lol wtf, I can just see it now

BREAKING NEWS!!

Underage gamblin ring found in Chesterland. Police are on the scene. Apperantly these kids hid their illegal actions by pretending to just play this game called Brawl. Reports state when police officers started to unplugg tv, the kids countered the by throwing wii and gamecube controllers at officers. It is possible national security will be called into this. More info tonight at 9.

If it is on your property, you need nothing of the sort.

Not to mention, it's not gambling; it's a game of skill. I don't know what Ohio's law is, but it doesn't fall under Kentucky's law of gambling.

http://www.gambling-law-us.com/State-Laws/Ohio/

Read up more here.

From what I can see, competitive gaming is exempt. Not only is it not for profit and isn't a game of chance, but I don't believe your neighbors know the gambling laws very well. Ask them how a 16 year old boy can legally buy a raffle ticket (they can) or how an 8 year old girl can try to throw rings around a bottle at a fair.

As for insurance and waivers, it could be needed based on the public charter for your area. If you can get a copy of that, that would answer that (if you even have one). But just for having a number of people over, you don't need it; they are going to have just as many people over.

What time does this event start? I would love for us all to get there a bit early and take up their parking spots.

You are all going to hate me, but I'm not ****ing with them on this one.

Here's what I'm offering. By the middle of July I can afford the insurance, tent, whole nine yards to keep these *******s satisfied, but there is no way to have the tournament Saturday.

If you contact me via AIM, PM, or phone, I will gladly reimburse any money spent in preparation for this, and that is a promise. I feel AWFUL about this whole thing, and am truly mortified, but I don't plan on rolling over completely. I'm going to have this all fixed and run through the proper channels, and I can really do this right, but if you lose your faith in me, I'd understand.

440-840-4086 if you need to talk reimbursement.

....?

So... I think you could give me their phone number because what they're doing classifies as harassment and I wouldn't mind using the money I was going to spend on this tournament against him.

How would you having a tournament in-doors affect their reunion in any way other than parking spaces?

Dude, don't let them scare you. You are on PRIVATE PROPERTY. Your parents pay taxes just like the rest of the world. They can eat a ****. You have just as much right to hold an event on the same day that they do. The general population of people traveling to this is "of-age" any way. FC had waivers, but that's because it was overnight.

Just print up a document that says "if you're under 18, have a parent sign this: I hold no liability towards your actions on this residence"

Seriously, there's no reason for that.

Or, we could all just go up anyway and visit their family reunion. We know the address, all we'd have to look for is a bunch of cars.

or anyone practicing law here and can tell Wolve that his neighbor cant keep him from holding this even in his own property
I'm not even practicing law and I can tell him that he's fine.

The only reason he'd ever need insurance or a waiver is if it was designated by his public charter, and I guarantee that his neighbors don't have it for their family reunion. I would be willing to call them and talk to them as well as hire an attorney if need be. I don't like being pushed around, and I'm not too happy about this being canceled last minute.

Just talked to Squared, as long as you say it's not gambling, it's a game of skill, it should be fine. At Notre Dame they had very strict gambling laws (example, no gambling at all) but games of skill are not considered gambling. He was able to have tournaments at ND just fine even with their strict gambling laws.

And seriously, CALL THE POLICE AND ASK. Your neighbors do not know what's going on, the police do. Just tell them what will be going on on Saturday, make sure to say it's NOT gambling, it's a game of skill, and see what they have to say about it. If they say it's fine, which they should, then your neighbors are dumb and there's no problem.

The wisest thing to do is to call the police. There's not much more I can say other than that it's 100% not illegal, nor do you need waivers or insurance or anything. About the only thing at risk here is breaking the fire code (something your neighbors might be at risk of doing as well).

We had waivers and insurance at FC for our own protection. It was not required by law or anything. If it makes you feel better, just print off a waiver for people to sign. Or better yet, I'll let you use the FC waiver. Just ask.

Note: There is no such thing as "underage gambling". Gambling is illegal everywhere except in casinos. Your neighbors are trying to scare you, nothing more. A game of skill can be used to win money. If you doubt the legality of Smash tournaments, then how is MLG in business?

Please please PLEASE do not cancel this, I'm soooo looking forward to it!!

Dude, tell them to **** off. They can't call the cops on you for a video game tournament. This has to be done Saturday; I've already made plans!

Really... you're holding the single largest Brawl tournament in the Midwest for the summer right now, the first midwest circuit event, and have a TON of people looking forward to this (EVEN THE KISHES ARE GOING!!!)

Also, I looked up Ohio's gambling laws and you're clear on that. Not only that, but as Kish said, you don't need any waivers or anything like that. The only possibilty is if something is in your charter, if you even have one, and I doubt that competitive gaming is in there. If anything, there would only be something about public events on your property; if that's the case their family reunion counts too.

Regardless, I've got the numbers of your police department and township officials, so I'll be asking them what is up in the morning. If you don't want to handle this, let me or Squared or someone else willing to step up. I tried calling you, but you didn't answer; I'll be calling the police in the morning (their hours for their non-emergency number are from 9 a.m. -5 p.m.) and they'll be able to let everything be in the clear.

Even better, if YOU call you can give them your neighbors phone number and the police can call to let them know that it is completely legal and that further aggrevation towards you would be considered harassment. Yay legal system!

The legal system is in place to keep people like your neighbors from pulling **** like this. All it takes is a phone call and you are fully protected by the police.

We're all looking forward to this. Remember, if everyone gave in to someone like this we'd NEVER have a tournament.
