Pro tip for anyone with a Switch and NSO: turn on your phone’s hot spot mode if you want to play online while you’re out and about. I tried it for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe earlier today during a walk in the nearby park and it worked surprisingly well.

I think in theory, having multiple developers and teams do different kinds of games is the ideal way out churn out games based on any IP, whether they be based on a video game, movie, TV show, etc.
I'm starting to wonder if maybe the 3D World style in Mario Maker 2 was originally supposed to be DLC in Mario Maker 1, considering it's the only wholly new gameplay style in Mario Maker 2.

Honestly, I’m hoping that the next game goes back to the Brawl style of character reveals (i.e. revealing both veterans and newcomers on the website periodically, and then saving the big reveals for things like Directs). I also kinda hope they reveal the characters in each Fighters pass ahead of time, as unlikely as that sounds.
Honestly, after Gen 10 hits the shelves, I hope TPC drops the normal release scheduling and gives the mainline games even more time to cook.
Assuming once again that the next Smash game launches with 18 newcomers, I’ve decided to sort my most wanted into two tables: nine fan-favorites, and nine Switch shills (including Echoes).

Okay, so hear me out: what if the next Smash had an Adventure Mode, and the main villain of the Adventure Mode…was thematically based on game show hosts?
As unlikely as it probably is, I think Crash Bandicoot and Ryu Hayabusa both seem like characters who would make sense to be in the base roster of the next Smash game.

I still can't believe it's been more or less five years since the COVID pandemic...that, to me, was the moment that I lost all sense of time.
I think some sort of trading card mechanic would be a good compromise between the respective ideas of bringing back Trophies and Spirits. They could be like Spirits in terms of giving you different effects, and Trophies in terms of being collectibles with brief blurbs about the respective character(s).
Looking back, part of me wishes I had taken up video editing class in middle school so I could be a part-time YouTuber as a passion project.
All I need is for Nintendo to come out and say "this will be the largest roster of any Mario kart game" for the next Mario Kart and I'll be set for life.
(And don't bring up Tour because most of its drivers are just alts)
Yeah, I don’t care what anyone says. Once the next Smash game gets announced, Crash Bandicoot is the one character that I’m going to support wholeheartedly the same way I did with Sora.
I had a dream last night that I was playing Shadow Generations and Shadow had a DLC costume based on the Zeo Gold Ranger armor.
I had a dream last night that I was playing the next Smash game and one of the songs was a remix medley between the N64 Sherbet Land theme and the Double Dash Sherbet Land theme, with the latter in the tune of its final lap version.
My mother and I just discovered that our coolant has been leaking since September 2024. We noticed because I noticed that my ceiling was leaking and fumes had been running through our vents. When my mother called the maintenance people about it back in September, they didn’t do anything about it until October…and then in January this year, we started smelling those exact same fumes again. The maintenance people insisted it was no problem even though it clearly was.
Because the maintenance people couldn’t be assed to actually fix anything, the fumes persisted and my mother and I could still smell them. Then I noticed the leak in my ceiling and that’s how we realized that coolant was leaking. We then decided to send the maintenance people pictures of the leak so they can actually DO something. In the meantime, we’re staying in a hotel overnight.
Let’s say that the next Smash game launches with 60-65 characters. That means roughly:
- 45 veterans
- 15 unique newcomers
- 5 Echo Fighters
I’m currently considering whether or not the next Smash game should prioritize new remixes and remastered arrangements of remixes from Melee and Brawl. What do you guys think?
For April Fools this year, let’s rename ourselves to “KongBoards,” in honor of DKC Returns HD coming out the same day as the Switch 2 reveal.
Whatever happens in the next Smash game, I hope it prioritizes the following:
- More base game newcomers than what Ultimate launched with
- Veterans getting reworked movesets
- More balance between single and multiplayer content
- Rollback netcode
Honestly, I’d rather Sunset Wilds have not come back in Tour & 8 Deluxe at all if it meant that it got an actually good remake in the Switch 2 Mario Kart game.
I made a new account on Steam, but then I discovered that it stopped me from getting my old account back because my new account uses the same email as my old one. I’m going to try deleting my new account and trying again with a Proof of Ownership.
Genuine question: how beneficial would Nintendo putting at least their old games on Steam be? Because I’ve seen some mixed opinions in the matter.
My top 5 favorite Tour courses in 8 Deluxe:
- Squeaky Clean Sprint
- The most creative course in the entire game, with plenty of hidden shortcuts to boot. Probably my favorite course in the entire series.
- Ninja Hideaway
- Plenty of alternate paths to the point of truly feeling like Mario’s platforming roots
- Singapore Speedway
- Probably the best city course in the game purely for how varied its laps are and because its aesthetics make it feel like a proper race course
- Athens Dash
- The second best city course IMO, because it feels like you’re going on an adventure throughout Greece
- Piranha Plant Cove
- The only non-city course to have unique routes on each lap. Admittedly the weakest of the five courses on this list, but still a good, solid track.
What do you think the next Smash is going to be able to pull off with the Switch 2 technology? 8-player Smash Run on an expanded map with all fighters being able to interact with each other? A more expansive Adventure Mode with bigger levels? Certain newcomer ideas that were held back by technical limitations getting a second chance here? Maybe not anything along the lines of 16-player Smash, since that would likely become an unplayable mess.

If EA were brave then the PopCap games they own would lend themselves pretty well to Switch 2’s mouse mode

The global economy could really use a Bowser Revolution right now
I’ve seen some speculation that the next Mario Kart, based on the long road we saw in the snippet, will have cross-country races. At the very least, I can see a “cross-country” mode as a spiritual successor to Mission Mode from DS.
As of tomorrow, it’ll be a week since my Steam account got hijacked by a scammer. I wish Steam Support had an actual phone number so I could’ve gotten it back sooner instead of having to make a new one from scratch.
After thinking about the rumored mouse functionality for the Switch 2, I decided to use my beanie as a mouse mat as a frame of reference. It works surprisingly well with my mouse, and it makes me wanna use it for the Switch 2 if I ever get on for Christmas.
Probably not the best example, but watching this video made me think "If a fan mod could make 24 racers work with retro tracks, then maybe Mario Kart Switch 2 can, too."

I’ve actually been thinking of something; you guys remember Luke from Street Fighter? He was the last DLC character in Street Fighter V before making his proper debut in Street Fighter VI, where he was meant to debut originally.
I guess what I’m saying is, it would be novel if Ultimate got one last DLC newcomer who was backported from the next Smash game as a teaser for the next Smash game. -
