For as much people talk about "Disney's first gay character", "Disney's first original animated film" is way more confusing. They'll tell you Lion King was the first, but half of the Disney films prior were based on unreleased and lost material (Aristocats is a bizarre example of this, since said unreleased material was a film script, just a live action TV movie one) and a good chunk went beyond "unfaithful adaptation" into "we just took a character name and nothing else, we wasted licensing money"
Anyway, the first original Disney (company) animated film is Plane Crazy - short cartoons were made as films and not episodes, and Gallopin' Goucho and Steamboat Willie were parodies.
