Posting gifs to Tenor is really funny, because most gifs only get about 15 shares, but there's that uncalculable chance that for some span of 3 days, 600 people will think "you know, this reminds me of the creepy CGI clown from Red's Dream" or "this really makes me feel like I'm Charmander being attacked by a giant fork", and then as quick as it started, it'll start gathering dust again.

3D platformer fans are weird because they claim to care about the whole genre, but also get really mad at announcements that are very obviously a net positive for the genre just because they don't involve their favourite character.

Looking back at this whole "Mario Mandate" mess I got caught into a long while back, the biggest red flag I really should've noticed immediately was that all the infographics said the "Soul Era" started in 2001.

They did NOT play Yoshi's Story or Yoshi's Island. if you were to split the creativity of every Nintendo game ever combined into a pie chart, those two would be the only games to get a non-decimal number percentage - and both of them are, even by my definition, spin-offs.

Mario X Peach not being an official ship (anymore) is awesome. It's a really nice message for kids that romance isn't a reward, and it makes a good contrast when Bowser is shown to be a bit creepy like in the CGI movie.

I think one of my favourite weird Nintendotuber-isms is "EarthBound creator Shigisato Itoi" - like, yeah, he did do that, but that's leaving out a ton of context you could basically cover in two or three extra words, and is often kinda important to the specific conversation if it's about marketing or Nintendo hardware as a whole.

Talking Tom is a really funny character when taken out of the context of an app that repeats what you say. The idea of a post-talkies cartoon character who's whole gimmick - to the point it's in his name - is that he can talk is really funny. Especially if you choose willing ignorance and interpret it as some kind of weird, probably-non-parody-law-appliant dig at Tom & Jerry for not having dialog.

Something I've realised while looking up when certain characters enter public domain for a Wikimedia article is that UK copyright terms are actually WORSE than American copyright terms. "Death + 70 years" registers in the mind as "lower number = shorter", but it adds quite a few extra decades on to roughly the same length as the US term, as well as more ambiguity between who can be credited as an author - thank god for the rule of the shorter term.

I generally don't like Death + terms, it's a nice idea to eliminate copyright as soon as there's nobody who can reasonably take primary credit, and it has the benefit of having an entire world or library be avaliable at once in the right scenarios, but you either A. create a huge, hard-to-track instability in when content becomes PD, or B. practically encourage waiting for people to die.
