I don't get how liminal spaces are supposed to be scary - maybe it's just that I went out in the afternoon/evening a lot as a kid and always lived in generally underpopulated areas, but I find an empty mall or hotel more comforting than scary.

One thing I wish more platform fighters would embrace is competitive-friendly stage hazards - stuff like Randall on Yoshi's Story and Whispy on Dream Land 64. Sewer Slam in NASB is really cool, even if its sludge hazard is a little too RNG based.

While I prefer no unlockables at all, I do like the idea of a crossover allowing you to unlock franchises instead of individual characters. So, like in a Smash game you'd start off with every single Mario character, item, and stage, then instead of unlocking Link after 10 battles you'd unlock Link; Zelda; Toon Link; Temple; Gerudo Valley; Bunny Hood; e.t.c. all at once.

I really dislike how you can only use Battlefield forms for Multi-Man Smash. Given there's no public leaderboard I don't see why they'd be worried about people exploiting 75M to get a super high score or whatever.

Early US Pokémon advertising is so fascinating to me - like, they fully embraced the whole "game hunting" thing and centered the ads around trapping Pokémon instead of befriending them. I do wonder if, had the anime not existed or been released outside of Japan and these ads were how US kids viewed the Pokémon universe outside the green pixels, the series would've gone for something edgier and less friendship-themed like these commercials going on like how 90s US Sonic marketing influenced the 2010s games, or on the opposite end of the spectrum the games would remain as is and there'd be Western fan outcry over the promotion of Pokémon friendship and care like there was for Wario's fart jokes when they finally started coming abroad.

Nick Kart 3 speculators who are not even considering buying the game when they add Classic Quadrupedal Garfield instead of Louie Lagoon, the half-human-half-Loch-Ness-Monster from SwampDwellerz, the classic 2005 cartoon with the completely unique premise of "a schoolboy with a secret second life of magical powers" that no other cartoon had at the time and only lasted 2 seasons, the second of which was finished in 2006 but aired in 2011 during school hours.

Does anyone remember Puddi Puddi? The Japanese flan commercial that was a meme in 2012 or so? Because as a kid there was one part of that video that kinda creeped me out - when the last piece of a pudding is eaten at a party and the "puddi puddi!" voice clip is played with an echo effect right after. For some reason 10 year old me interpreted that as like a "face in the clouds" sorta way of implying I just saw one of the puddis from the animated segment die and that they're at rest.

I feel like you probably could've found 4 official alts that are possible to make as simple texture swaps for most or even all the NASB characters, but a lot of them would have to be shading differences taken literally (especially for Jenny and the R&S characters), taken from extremely rare merchandise (especially for SpongeBob, Turtles, and Garfield characters), or unused concept art designs. There'd also be a lot of "angry red" and "illness green" alts.

I do kinda like the idea of Melee becoming a seperate, more competitive and Nintendo-centric series from current day Smash like how Final Fantasy 7 or Street Fighter 2 are for their series, released concurrently to the more big festival-like main releases - no way in hell Sakurai or Nintendo could ever pull it off well though, not to mention the major fandom division it'd cause if pulled off well

When the Velma adult cartoon was first announced, I thought it was going to be just Velma, no other canon Scooby characters except a villain or two, so honestly I'm more confused that the rest of Mystery Inc. are there than Scoob's absence - I really like the idea of a spin-off that only borrows a single character and makes everything, everywhere, and everyone else up.

I feel like if there was a new non-crossover Rocko game (which I highly doubt will ever happen unfortunately, given 90s nostalgia is clearly on the way out), it should be an Animal Crossing-style game where, instead of being warm and fuzzy escapism, everything wants to kill you and you have to do boring (at least in the real world) things like DMV visits and paying taxes.

Yes, I know that defeats the whole purpose of a life sim game.
