I kinda agree with the sentiment of the "stop having fun!" comic meme, that being said it shouldn't be used to drown out criticisms. I feel it only really has purpose when boycotts are being called for or there's major controversy.

Nick Brawl did a way better job of making SpongeBob still feel like SpongeBob within the shoto archetype than Smash does with Mario.
People were surprised Alex got an amiibo over Fem!Byleth, but honestly I'm more surprised that Zombie and Enderman didn't get amiibo. Given how popular Minecraft and its inclusion in Smash are, and how easy the amiibo would be to sculpt, it'd be really low risk high reward for Ninty.

I do not understand this advert. Jimmy Neutron ended in 2006, and this ad aired in 2009. Kids who would beg their parents to get the car wouldn't be watching Jimmy Neutron anymore, and not enough time had passed for adults to become nostalgic for Jimmy Neutron. It's like if they aired a Harvey Beaks car advert today,
The idea of an unambigiously and comically evil villain somehow turning over a new leaf and having to be taught extremely basic morality by the heroes like a 5 year old is a rather charming concept to me.

This is a very dark but also very fitting thumbnail choice
I feel that cartoonish art styles are better for platform fighters because
- Cameras tend to be further away in platfighters, and stylised characters are usually easier to give strong silhouettes
- Platfighters often have more variance in character sizes, and it's hard to justify a rodent-sized character with an anime or realistic aesthetic (helps that fighting a child isn't as frowned upon with a cartoon art style as it is with realism - though that does apply to anime styles somewhat too)
- Platfighters heavily rely on air mobility, and generally bing-bing-wahooing around makes more sense for Scrimblos.
- The concept of defeating a foe by knocking them off screen instead of exhausting/killing them is, as normal as it seems now, quite comical
- Platformers, in general, are associated with cartoonish art styles.

Tries to read spotdodge with run up jab, but dashes and whiffs. Reads panic spot dodge with drop shield F-tilt. Tries To read a mistech but he is does tech in place and whiffs. Reads jump as his escape option. Hard reads side B with the worst up-smash in the game And wins the game. Be angry all you want, but he had the soul reads.

Every time I criticise the structure Fighters' Passes the only counterarguments I tend to get are either "don't like, don't buy/blame yourself" or "you're just mad they didn't add your most wanted!" - both of which are greatly missing the point. Even if Byleth wasn't a thing or Scrimblos; Swordguys; and Rootem Shootems lived in harmony, it'd still be extremely scummy to let people pay £22 to buy a mystery product with no option of refunds - no matter how many vaguely worded "only buy if you're certain!" warnings they give.
One of the weirder Smash music snubs, IMO, is Aquatic Ambience. It's such an iconic DK song and regardless of whether it's battle-fit or not it feels kinda weird for it to be absent.
Hell, I'd argue the original AA is more battle-fit than Ice Cave Chant is.
There are a ton of songs I cannot listen to without hearing HHGregg - some of them don't even have HHGregg remixes on YouTube.

Having grown up being afraid to swear around family members (and still being scared to do so at age 19), finding out "crap" isn't a swear word was like that Thanos meme where he gets the stones.
Generally I've been an advocate for localised games taking major creative liberties with their source material - that being said, thank god the EarthBound localisation didn't replace Paula's frying pan with a blowgun.
Ironic Squid Game memes appeared before unironic Squid Game memes did.

It's funny how the new remixes from Brawl can for the most part either be split into "same song with different instruments" or "only thing the same is chord progression".
If, in some hypothetical universe, Mario was a newcomer in a non-Nintendo-made Smash, they could do the music-changing thing Mementos does but for all the Mario subseries. You could have an NSMB theme for 2D platformers, SM64 theme for 3D platformers, then Mario Kart; Yoshi's Island; Wario Land; WarioWare; and DKC themes for those respective franchises - maybe even a classic DK theme for pre-SMB Mario games and a Dr. Mario theme for quirky (non-RPG) spin-offs.
I think I may have accidentally killed the Roster Curation thread by making a super long, extremely niche roster you have to remove 84 out of 148 entries from while also putting 16 of them into an extra category.
on the Disney platform fighter creation thread I submitted Monsters Inc. with the writeup being entirely just "Monsters Inc." - somehow it won, and I'm not sure if that's a testament to just how beloved MI is, or a testament to how uhh... lacking... the other submissions for the first repped Pixar movie were. (Brave and Onward got submitted, but not Toy Story or Up).
The thing about pipe dreams is that, should they come true, you'll more often than not find those pipes to be rusty and filled with asbestos.
Monika is probably the most ridiculous character I've ever seen request for Smash - and that includes ironic Shrek/Home Depot requests. Like, who plays an existential horror game about a teenage girl discovering the boundaries of her universe and brainwashing her classmates to the point of suicide so she can win someone's heart then says "put it in Smash!"?
If you want a "glitchy fighter", you would have better luck getting Nintendo to acknowledge MissingNo or approve of the Game Genie - because at least those characters don't fly past the lines of good taste in this context.
Also, I think that adding a character created by an ex-PM dev would be more of an insult than anything considering Nintendo have actively tried to indirectly kill that mod and Namco have learned nothing from its popularity.
Me realising Sora in Smash doesn't mean a rerelease of Uniracers.
