After getting $6,302 off its kickstarter campaign after easily breaking its $1,500 goal, the SmashPad app is something many fans have been excitedly waiting for. With the campaign ending in January of 2015 the wait has been long but this creation from Chris "Praxis" Harden is set to released for iOS on January 28, 2016! Tutorials to learn how to use characters are very important. Learning the ins and outs of moves, techniques, and more just as much so. But something often overlooked but just as important is knowing what stages to pick and the benefits and disadvantages of stages in competitive play. Youtube channel One Hit Smash has created a new video in a series that aims to analyze legal stages to help those learn more about them. Check out this video on Final Destination!

Welcome back to the Weekend Watchlist! We took a short break for Genesis 3 but are pleased to return with the 36th ever list. With the upgrade to the Smashboards Event System taking place last year its easier than ever to find a Smash event near you, but for those stuck watching at home we've used it to compile a list of the best streams each weekend to feature here. So without further ado, here's the Weekend Watchlist!

Some of the most fun that happens at any large get together of Smash fans are the cosplays of Nintendo characters. Genesis 3 was no exception to this and there were many bright and exciting costumes for fans going across the venue to snap selfies with and enjoy. One such person Staphany Pachon, a 21 year old college student studying mechanical engineering who loves to attend and compete in Smash events. To get an idea on what Genesis 3 looks like through the eyes of a cosplayer we sat down for an interview to discuss cosplay at Smash events, the potential of sponsoring cosplayers, her hobby, and more.

In order to promote a positive image of the Smash Bros. community, I decided to organize a collaboration which highlights the good of the community. The project is simply called “We Love Smash”.It’s accepting a wide range of submissions from the community. Here’s the tentative posting schedule on Source Gaming:

With Smash growing by leaps and bounds month by month and year by year it is incredibly impressive to say the least. However as we continue to grow it is a great idea to take inspiration from other growing communities to see what we can learn from them to improve ourselves.

While visiting Further Confusion 2016, the furry convention sharing a venue with Genesis 3, to report on their own Smash event I had a chance to learn a lot about how they run their events. When I learned they were taking notes on our events to learn and gain ideas for their next convention I realized how clever that was I started to take notes of my own.

After having a full tour of the event and experiencing a small taste of the convention I have found a lot of things we could bring back to improve Smash events we host. Some of these ideas have started to be implemented at only a few events, others not yet implemented at all. Before continuing on...

Anyone who has followed Melee's storylines in the past few years knows about Hax$ and his character identity crisis. Hax$ was formerly ranked #6 in the world, known for being the best Captain Falcon main. He later completely dropped the captain in late 2013-early 2014 in favor of Fox. Although Hax$ would still play Falcon for fun sometimes, his loyalty was still pledged to Fox. In this song to the tune of Toy Story 2's "When She Loved Me", Captain Falcon reflects on what life with Hax$ was like.

In the latest installment of Famitsu Weekly, there were several creators who were interviewed together. Masahiro Sakurai, and Tetsuya Nomura were paired together. They discussed several topics such as working on Cloud in Smash, the New Challenger Illustration and what they thought of each other.

Payne Stewart said, "If you can't laugh at yourself, then how can you laugh at anybody else? I think people see the human side of you when you do that." The Keef Crew do just that in many of their videos to shed a humorous light on serious subjects in Smash. By far some of the most popular videos they have created are the Things Smash 4 Players Don't Say videos. This time it's taking a look at Cloud players in a nutshell. Give it a watch!

The TAS, short for Tool-Assisted Speedrun/Superplay, is a type of video that has been in the Smash Bros. community for ages. Recently, prominent TAS maker Stabby McKniferson (in collaboration with Heeeww) has put an interesting twist on TAS -- a TAS your own adventure! At certain points in this TAS match between Fox and Falco, the viewer is given an option to choose. Choose wisely, as there are 17 different pathways, 13 unique endings, and only 1 path to victory.

With one the largest most spectacular events Smash has ever seen taking place it might surprise many that right in the very same venue another Smash tournament was taking place. In many ways it it similar to any other tournament: the room is filled with friends being reunited after such long spans apart, the clicking of buttons pierces the air, and the venue is packed to capacity with people who love Smash. The real difference was the event took place at Further Confusion 2016, the furry convention right next door to Genesis 3.

At the last minute upon learning a Smash tournament was taking place at the event I reached out in hopes of attending and was surprised to not only get a response but was offered free entry into the event with a media badge. I not only entered the tournament myself but decided to take the opportunity to learn about something I had never seen before to try and see what I could bring back to Smash. Come and see all that I learned.

A tournament series legendary for its history within Melee, Genesis 3 is the latest installment and the matches that took place will be remembered for a LONG time. We saw crew battles, doubles, the salty suite, but nothing can compare to the fabulous action only found in singles. Ready to catch up on all the action? Let's get started!

Smash 64 at Genesis 3 has been amazing. It was the largest smash 64 tournament of all time and talent came from all over the world to compete, some touching American soil for the very first time. Genesis 3 has become the most stacked Smash 4 event of all time. With so many other countries like Mexico, Latin America, Canada, Australia, and Japan attending Genesis 3 with some of their finest players, it can come as no surprise that Europe is doing so as well.
