Smash Stories: 'PurpleGuy' Ed - The Hipster Sheik
  • 5,442
  • 22
Many Smashers have recently picked up Sheik in Smash 4 as she has thus far proven to be the best character in the game. Not many can say they were dedicated Sheik players since the days of Brawl, but PurpleGuy, also known as Ed, is one of those few. Alongside playing the top character in Smash 4, he carries a passion for Zelda, who is currently considered the worst character in the game. In Brawl, he was considered the best with both characters and was ranked #77 in the Clash Tournament Brawl Rankings. Going from famous for his choice of character to just another Sheik in the crowd has led to an interesting transition moving into Smash 4 - so much so that he considers it to be the greatest challenge of his Smash career thus far.

Although he does not compete in the U.S. very often, he has dazzled crowds at tournaments such as Apex 2015, Apex 2014, and Kings of Cali 4, where he did the seemingly impossible by taking down the world's best with Yoshi.

The Smash community has long been known as a 'community for everyone', and it shows through our actions. We have built our community around a love of Nintendo, the Smash series, and each other. As Prog so eloquently put it: "It doesn't matter if you're disabled, your race, gender expression, or your sexual orientation. It matters more what game you play and what character you're playing." We have seen transgender women like Maria "Remilia" Creveling and Ricki Sophie Ortiz have success within the professional gaming community, and the same can be said for the Smash community.

  • 13,854

In the first official Smash 4 tier list, Ganondorf was voted to be only two spots away from the worst character in the game. While this is better than being the lowest-ranked fighter on the tier list as he was in Brawl, not much can be said on this improvement. Some have wondered if Ganondorf is truly the king of the bottom tier, citing his dominance of various power rankings and surprisingly high placements at certain tournaments. So what do those in the trenches battling with him as a main think of him? We brought three of the best Ganondorf mains to weigh in!

While some are still well-known from their days in Brawl, there are many players just beginning to make a splash on the scene. While many have had their moments to shine, few can say they did so by taking down Nairo at one of the most stacked Smash 4 events of all time and almost breaking into the top 8. The one who can is Hyuga.

He was the favorite to take the tournament, but he encountered opposition from his cousin Serge, a young Lucario player.
