Cloud Strife Announced For Smash 4!

When the first Nintendo Direct was announced since the passing of Satoru Iwata Nintendo fans were excited. Then Sakurai himself retweeted the direct and the website movie list for Smash broke (something that has happened before other DLC videos released). Well Smash fans the hype was very real as we got a brand new character coming to Smash: Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7!
The Mega Master: ScAtt

This man certainly knows his super fighting robots. Andrew "ScAtt" Huntley has been making waves at Smash 4 tournaments using a character not as commonly seen in the meta game: Mega Man. He may be the best Mega Man in the world at this point having taken sets off of Wizzrobe, Mew2King, StaticManny, Acid, MVD and more. His latest big showing was at Tipped Off 11 where he was able to secure 4th place. We decided to hunt down this Mega Master and learn a bit more about him and his main.

“Hitstop” is a term used to describe a technique employed primarily in fighting games. When you strike the opponent, both parties momentarily freeze, emphasizing the power of impact. It’s a crucial effect.
Hitstop is a design element that is crucial to play-- both casually and competitively. In this translated column, Smash director Masahiro Sakurai discusses the importance of hitstop and his approach on implementing it in Super Smash Bros. Haven eSports has been busy signing players! They recently added Mister Eric and DC as well as AceStarThe3rd to their roster but now a new player has joined their ranks. SmashG0D has been a solid competitior in all games having mained Fox in Smash 64, Marth in Melee, Samus in Brawl, and uses Rosalina and Luma alongside Kirby in Smash for Wii U. While he is very strong in the other series, he has been signed onto Have eSports specifically for his Melee talents!

We may finally have some incoming Smash news as a new Nintendo direct has been announced! This will be the first Nintendo Direct since its hiatus with the passing of Satoru Iwata so it will be interesting to see how the presentation differs from before. The main subject of the direct is vague simply stating "updates on upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS releases"...
Smash 64 Needs Readers' Help To Make History

With Genesis a little over two months away, time is ticking to put together funds for travel and accommodations. The Smash 64 community may be feeling this pressure the most out of the entire Smash umbrella, as it hopes to make history with unprecedented international attendance.

After Apex 2015 and Super Smash Con achieved record registration numbers, Genesis 3 is hopeful to raise the bar even higher. With the return of Isai after a two year hiatus, as well as dominant players like SuPeRbOoMfAn, KeroKeroppi, Jaime, Fireblaster, and Wizzrobe confirmed attending, Genesis 3 is looking to be the most stacked tournament in recent memory.


Speaking of which, attendees should definitely join Smash 64 singles!

Not known to many Smashers outside of the close-knit 64 community, the game has its own legendary folklore of "Gods", whom are scattered around the globe: Japan, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Australia...
Super Smash Bros. Nominated For People's Choice Awards - Go Vote!

The People's Choice Awards has been broadcast on CBS since its first show in 1975. The concept of the show is to allow the American people to vote on things like favorite television shows, movies, musics, and more in general categories. This year for the 42nd edition of the show a new category has been added for favorite video game. Super Smash Bros has been nominated along with several other titles to win a People's Choice Award for 2016!

It seems Melee player Hax just can't escape the musical parodies! Smash fans sure to have amazing ways of expressing their love of the game and its players through song. Be it through rap, pop songs, or strange remixes Smash fans really rock out. For those who do not know, Hax is a well known Fox main who was once known for his mastery of Captain Falcon.
