I've been trying to mix up my recovery a lot more lately, but I've been running into a frustrating problem that I don't understand. About half the time, when I use downb to sweetspot the ledge (I'm not getting edgehogged), I'll autowalljump instead of grabbing the ledge, at which point the downb lasts too long and sends me too far horizontally to tether. Why does this happen, and when it does, is there any way to recover?

After your Down B just hold nothing on your control stick if you click a side of it you flip again
Also aim for the edge (another factor) a little better , what I did to practice is just go in training and do it 20 times with out failing

There ain't no other
Who can comfort me
Why won't you answer me?
Your silence is slowly killing me
Girl you really got me bad
You really got me bad
I'm gonna get you back
Gonna get you back

Hey, guys. I have been lurking here for a while, so I joined. I honestly just read 44 pages of this thread and decided to join in. So I have a question.

What is the matchup between Link and ZSS and what advantages does ZSS have?

You are a very dedicated person. Kudos to you!

The Link matchup is the subject of much contention here. I would say most people think it's a slight advantage in ZSS favour, but I know some think it's in Link's favour. I guess it depends on your ability to deal with his projectiles and his gimmicks.

That being said, watch out for the magnet!! (dair)

Thanks. Yeah in Michigan there are a lot of link mains for some reason. Like 6 months ago I went to a small tourny. There was like 6 links there and I was wtf? At the time I mained snake (really creative, right?) and got decently far but lost to someone that spammed as much As I did. (noobish right, spamming with Snake) so yeah.I tried ZSS against my friends MK once and was hooked. since then Ive just been researching ZSS and found her to be really intresting.

Can't believe I just posted my entire ZSS Story. Anyway, going to a tourny soon. Wish me luck!

Hey ZSS boards.

5th in a Mid-Tiers tournament, last Saturday. All ZSS, of course. My highest accolade there was beating Ook. I was aiming for Kain, too, but yeah... nothing is easy.

Y.b.M is still the better version of me, disappointingly. I want tips on the ditto, and what I need to look out for. He two stocks me every time we play, and I know the gap between us isn't that huge.

Sovereign I'm not great at dittos but in my experience it comes down to who has the better ground game, as long as you're both proficient with PSing side b and nB. Use your ground game to set up juggles and you win.

So I'm thinking about using ZSS as a secondary. Can I get some general gameplay tips? Also who are ZSS's worse matchups and what are the ratios?

He is much better than me at pulling out B reverse shots on the ground. I haven't fully got it down, but I know I need it in my game.

From the start of my match with him at ISA, I figured since it's a ditto, I would throw my pieces away, but low-and-behold he chucks his at me. (mindgamed myself) Is it best to thow them at the other ZSS or throw them away? I have a fine item game with the pieces, but I don't know if it's best to keep them when my opponent has the same options as me.

You havnt remembered from our last match

Keeping your pieces is vital unless you can some how can throw yours out and manage to get their's instead (unnecessary hassle)
short answer , play the suit piece game and have good item control in this ditto or your gonna have problems

Just before the sunrise,
there's a moment in time
When the quiet you feel, allows you to remember
Every thing that you've dreamed of, every thing that feels true
It is then that I think of you.

so I think your character just got a little bit worse. also, feel free to lol hard at GHneko's comment. I know I did.
What they didn't show, is the SDI/DI working if people aren't hit DURING the d-smash stun.
If it only works getting hit DURING the d-smash stun, there is nothing to worry about.
Wait until the stun ends, and hit. I always do that anyway.

If you side-b out of dsmash stun you hit them with the close hit (the 3% hit) and I don't think it is possible to tech without hitting the strong hit, so that's not really a concern either.

But really, I can't remember the last time I used side-b out of a stun unless all my other kill moves were stale.

whats the flow chart on what to do when after paralysation?

I actually picked zss up a few weeks ago for fun, and i frequently find myself doing bair/up air out of it than realising later than side b/flipkick might have been a better option.

Psh, flow chart?
Just get a feel for what moves string/kill at what %s. :D
No, seriously, I have no idea, and just wanted to post.

Also, for the general discussion, I've been finding that fair is a ****ing amazing move to kill with, since it's rarely used, and it beats AD/side-step. I'm getting good at the "back" hit of it, and I make people dodge the bair that doesn't show up.
Is nice. :3

There are a few options:

Highest damage is dsmash, charge dsmash, dash attack utilt
Second highest damage and best kill option is dsmash, charge dsmash, fair, although the fair is easy to DI out of, so we bair most of the time unless bair is stale (it could be, if you space with it)
After 90%, you can dsmash three times in a row (uncharged) and uair, which kills lightweights (including MK!) as early as 90.

You can also mix-up by doing things like dsmash dsmash dtilt or grab.

Basically at low percents: maximize damage output.
At high percents: maximize kill potential (ie don't use stale stuff).

Btw, if you dsmash twice you don't even have time to hit them before they launch into the air, thus teching dsmash is not even a viable option.

ive basically gotten used to

at 0
down smash x2, to string as many up airs as possible. and that usually gets me like 40-50%

and killing with down smashx2 to bair.

anything inbetween i just do whatever comes to mind.

also, can you mash out of the paralyser stun?

I remember our dittos. I'm gonna keep that in mind, now. I suppose launching them at my opponent would be the best and I tend to GT the final piece in, unless I see another way to guarantee a hit.

Standing tosses would be the same as all other characters, I'd assume. I can't say much on glide tossing, but I'm pretty sure the speed is < 10 frames on forward, back and down. I don't think frame data will help much more than a general idea of how fast it takes, given how liberal Brawl is with shields.

I've been "experimenting" (in practice mode) with some more bair tactics, but I didn't want to post it in the Tips thread since I'm not sure if they're legit. When you space a FF bair and land, a buffered pivot dtilt comes out incredibly fast and could potentially be a frame trap for non-grab punishes. Given that if spaced well, almost no one can punish bair on regular shield, this may be a good pressure option.

What follows is the obvious empty RAR SHFF -> dtilt/grab/dsmash to wreck spotdodges if you pick up on it.

Before SFP posted the "forward" bair stuff, I was also playing around with it, and I "discovered" that from early percents, it will combo into various things. This is by no means guaranteed, but it's definitely interesting.

f-bair > dtilt (0-20%, works on platforms against heavies)
f-bair > grab
f-bair > da > dtilt/utilt (probably best option if you ever land this)

I just don't think the f-bair is that useful since it's dreadfully unsafe on shield and it also requires horrendous spacing.
