Which one, the English tuner run that Cosmo put on YouTube with commentary is soooooo dated now and is no longer the record being beaten by demoon9 ( who only played that category recently to get a good time). You should watch the latest Japanese tuner runs that Cosmo and demoon9 have done, stuff in there will blow your mind (not OOT mind blowing but still awesome).

take particular note on how they now skip Helmaroc king,

yeah that's right EA, I went there, lol
oh cool, ill give it a watch

wheee 5(?) hour runs

Right, so I think I might start learning Skyward Sword after my exams finish, just seems like a cool thing to do. If I've got the run to a decent enough time by the time 4/48 comes along, I guess I could give it a go.

That said, where would you guys recommend as a good place to start if I was going to learn Skyward Sword?

watch testrunner,
but firstly a couple of things

you need to have a hero file setup since that is what it runs.
I was also going to say the run is done on *** but recently a glitch was recently found (as in 2-3 days ago) that is only possible on english (cant remember if it is PAL or NTSC-U, ask testrunner in his chat and make sure you type testrunner so he see your question).

the record was taken today by testrunner and is now somewhere near the 5:45 mark

In regards to 4/48, i believe scoot ran SS last time in about 12 hours, with what little glitches/time savers were useful at the time. we should have time for a run this long.
ask EA if he wants to add you. i would prefer doing a 4swords playthrough with the 4 people that did the other zeldas

the trick is only possible on usa 1.0, every other version of the game is 1.1. as far as we know, there is no jp 1.0, and eu 1.0 is probably the same as 1.1 (oot had a similar thing going).

also some extra notes. scoot's time was 9h40m; almost nothing was known about the game back then, including most timesavers. in addition to testrunner you should also watch tlozsr. you should check out the skyward sword forum and page on zsr.

anyway, for the sake of simplifying planning, i decided skyward sword will be considered a bonus game this time around. also i edited the op with updated info and a potential game schedule.

also lol timic you play games like toy story 2: buzz lightyear to the rescue!, you have no right to tell people what games to play champ.

Umm excuse me? Toy story 2 is widely regarded as quite a legit game, metacritic give it 91% putting it on par with your Skyward Sword in their reviews. The two games are so comparable in their reception that really to say one is better than the other is a matter of taste, it would certainly not be wrong for Timic to recommend Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue over Skyward Sword, therefore I don't think the point you have brought up for Timic having no right to tell people what games to play is very appropriate.

The Zelda games are simply more widespread and renowned, it is proof in the way you are dismissing it. It's a good game.
I for one would recommend Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue over Skyward Sword. If you've already played a Zelda game, you will be getting more of a new experience from the toy story game, and if you haven't played a Zelda game, Skyward Sword is not the place to start.

e_alert do research before assuming it's another disney skate, am i the only person who thinks that every game ever made is good or has good qualities in one way?

anyway SS might be a fun zelda game but it seems too finicky for a speedrun game as it has with forced wiimotion plus, and my friend says the game isn't that great and is overrated

I don't need to format my post into %'s to tell you that you are just being arrogant and ignorant. If you're saying we're mad because you don't like what we like, then why are you toting your opinion as fact and saying that because Tim likes this game, he has no right to talk about what games are good?

All you've done is act like everything you say is totally right and then done nothing to back what you say up. Another discriminator against one of the most underrated platformers of our time. It's unfair for you to portray "Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue" in a negative esteem and turn people off a brilliant game because you value your own opinion too much.

@Dekar: This game is quality, if you do emulate it or whatever get the PS1 version imo.

I prefer Toy Story 3 Deluxe Edition
It's metacritic rating isn't as good so you must be trolling.

EA you really can't make a response can you? You must hate discussion.
Stay conceited, pal :)

honestly splice i feel like there's a small chance you're trolling me and i don't want to "lose" by giving you an actual response. it's not like you've made any real argument yourself other than "that's your opinion".

lol @ metacritic

You're hating on a game you haven't played, and insult me when I tell you that's the wrong thing to do.
You try to disuade people from a great experience and insult other people for having a different opinion.
Opinions are fine but what you have done is wrong.

And you just keep acting high and mighty, and I'm telling you that it is wrong to degrade someone for their tastes and that it is disappointing that you do not hold any respect for Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, which is a great game that is underrated. I'm not really trying to make an argument, I'm just saying outright that the way you are behaving and treating "Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue" is just plain wrong. You refuse to apologise or consider what I am saying and continue to try to flame me.

splice, please stop putting words in my mouth. i haven't actually said anything about the game itself, and only implied it's a bit silly (and mostly as a joke, although the game IS kinda silly). the "behaviour" you're referring to is entirely in reaction to and directed at some prick (that's you) that showed up in a thread that had nothing to do with him and immediately picked a fight and started taking it off topic.

do you go up to random groups of people and start yelling at one of them about how wrong they are in the real world too? learn your ****ing place.

i'm sorry my initial choice of words may have been a bit harsh compared to how i intended it to sound, but then again i'm not sorry cause you've pretty much been working yourself up the entire time and it's hilarious. get out and stop spamming my thread now kthx? xdxdxd

Again, you aggressively enforce your opinions.
Really I don't know how everyone thinks this is acceptable.

If you are laughing at me, and they are laughing with you, how is that not the same?
I'd say you've clearly stopped thinking properly but that was apparent from the quality of your posts at the beginning of this.
You can keep up the bm but I said no re SOZ
Complain as much as you want and ask for nerfs
Don't allow yourself to experience the abundance of frivolous good gaming that is Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!, keep thinking you are dark and edgy coz you love Zelda.

EA stop encouraging them,

And Splice, the discussion here is the Zelda marathon,
if you or any of the other melbourne people are not interested in the Zelda marathon and have nothing constructive to say on this topic then stay out.
so far timic is the only one from that state that has actually said anything close to topic.

@EA
on topic,
for the extra stuff, i assume you may let Invisi do SS
you would do metroid(maybe ted if he plays), banjo and mario 64
it would be you, me, ted, and tom for 4Swords
and you and i racing WW

thats what your thinking right?

my vote is still 4Swords, semi casual and competitive lol, and involves more people

It's so bad Timic haha. My capture card and video editing software is really bad and outdated I think.

But Audacity for the commentary is awesome.

I might try get a better video editing software next time.

Hey Gords. That sounds pretty cool.

I'm using my Steel Series headphones as my mic:

My capture card is really bad so I don't recommend that you use it. I use a Dazzle DVC 100 which goes into a software called Pinnacle Studio and that's what records the gameplay. I also use that to edit my footage but it's really dumb when it does because it makes the audio off sync.

Obviously me doing a SS run would require me actually practicing it and getting it down to a decent enough time to do. I'll let you know how I progress with that closer to the date.

However, if we're planning to do a banjo-kazooie run, I'd definitely put my hand up for that. I could already do a run in a decent time right now.

hmm yeeeaaaahh.....I cant see banjo being played

it will most likely be chosen on the day to be honest

@scabe
dont use Pinnacle Studio, use AmaRecTV. you can find a download link from the SpeedRunsLive tools page.
it should work with your dazzle which is a pretty good actually

also you should totally come to the marathon
