So if you just boost SP, I wasn't sure if you were supposed to use specials on regular enemies, or just use regular attacksw and save SP for boss battles.

I also didn't know that if you keep boosting one stat the boost get smaller, until you can only get 1s.

So seeing as all my investment has been into attack with all three characters, and I've finished the story mode, should I try the boss battle mode on this file or should I start a new one and invest in special?

Also Limit, when you say you 100%ed the game, does that mean you attained every single peice of gear in the game? That seems like it would have cost a lot of coins.

Is there anywhere you can farm coins?

I've also 100%ed (as in story clear, All As in mini-games, and Gauntlet cleared) the game, and you definitely won't need to start a new file. Your specials will sting more than usual (due to all of your attack investments), despite your lower SP. It's not all bad.

More importantly, stats are ultimately moot in this game. If your dodging is on point, you'll eventually defeat anybody, even if you run out of SP and items. As a precaution, though, make heavy use of Mighty Meteor in the Gauntlet early on, because you are only given a sparse preset inventory for the whole challenge. That way, you'll have some nice items by the time you reach the challenging fights.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, if your reaction time is anywhere near half decent, you won't need to worry about losing anything. lmao

And yeah, I mean I have all the gear also. It did cost a lot of money and time, but I just got coins from battles/Dimble Wood spamming and stuff..really (the treasure chest)

You don't need to start a new file. I just started fresh because I was bored.

I'm pretty sure I sold some gear though. Some of that could have been one-off gear I can't buy anywhere.

Also, I just spent over an hour trying to get an A rank in the green shell minigame. I got in the 140s a million times and got a 149 once, but after a million tries I gave up.

I'm guessing it didn't take you guys anywhere near that long to A rank minigames, so I think I'll just give up on trying to 100% it seeing as you're probably not supposed to be that bad at the minigames.

The DK boards have a training regime thread, which basically outlines stuff to practice by yourself. That seemed like a good idea, particularly as it catalysed discussion about mix ups etc.

Good be helpful for like the 3 people that come here.

Uthrow and follow-ups on DK, Captain Falcon, Snake and Ike.
Mixups after DThrow at low % (you can dash attack people with low experience for example)
SH FAir -> Jab -> Mixup at low %
Bowser bombing the ledge
Learning what %s can you follow up on a successful klaw, if you double jump and klaw ASAP it's hard to avoid for some people
Platform-drop Klaws -> aerial/airdodge
Buffering Turn-around UTilt OoS
Item management
Ledge-hop stuff (when to klaw, when to FAir, when to airdodge into fortress/shield)

something i used to do just for the sake of it would be to race around a level like delfino (during the floating part), battlefield and lylat by klaw hopping on platforms

edit: If there's something I'm noticed from all Bowser mains is that we're pretty bad at knowing exactly when to pivot-grab. Like I can and see other people recognize "a pivot grab would pay off right about now" but the execution is wrong. Which is a shame cuz Bowser's pivot grab is good (by any non-tether standard)

I love that image, but my nitpicking self can't ignore that it's supposed to be unlimited and not ultimate

When you're falling, practice landing Bowser Bombs to punish people trying to pivot grab you.

Seems silly, but it's little things like this that actually take some time getting used to.

Does that work on Olimar?

I played the worst Brawl I've played it a long time. Sorry guys. :(

I'm gonna take a break for like a month or so.

I must amazing then. I've been taking a break for the past 2 years.

Does that work on Olimar?
It does if the spacing is right. Olimar is kind of a wonky exception since he's usually going to be too far away for this to work. Still worth noting if you predict a close pivot grab though.

Taking breaks from the game usually makes people better funnily enough.
It's not funny, it's completely true. If you do anything too long in succession, especially playing a game, you usually get stuck into doing the same things without thinking about it, because that's just what you've been doing over and over for so long. After a break, it refreshes that which allows you to break habits, see your mistakes, etc that you were doing before. Sure, there's a little rust after a break, but so long as your break isnt too long, it's not that bad and you can get back in your rhythm pretty quick.

As long as you remember upB OoS, you still have the Bowser spirit.

It's something that's ingrained into our heads so well that we can't forget it.

Just to give a pinpoint of a date, I plot for my Brawl resurrection in ~120 days.

Also, the New York Giants are gods.

Played some drunken Brawl recently. Used the classic controller to get a head start on getting used to it for the next Smash... Results were not positive. :( I foresee lots of FFFFUUUUU with the next Smash.

Seriously though, Nintendo's been going down hill the past couple years. Abandoning their last proper controller was probably the beginning. Then we get a bunch of meh Mario games. Other M. Their latest Zelda game has sold more copies in Europe than Japan. Other M. The various issues with the 3DS including the horrible launch with no first party games and the early price drop. Other M.

I don't think I can stress Other M enough.

In other news I recently got MW3 from GameFly. Holy **** am I relieved I got BF3 instead. I mean, I knew it was bad, but MW3 is reeeeeeaaaaaaally bad. I could go into detail, but I already made a post about it on the BF3 GameFAQs message board. Feel free to read it at your leisure.

Just got my copy from GameFly. Let's see how long it takes before I go back to BF3.

"We strongly recommend you play the campaign first."

Why? I think it's kinda sad that you're trying to rationalize the existence of the campaign by "recommending" I play it before the multiplayer, game. Actually I think it's very sad.

Ah, that Elite thing. Sure, I guess I'll download it. Let's see what it does...

... Eh, on second thought, I don't think I'll sign up. I'd rather Activision didn't know my email address if I can avoid it. Doesn't seem to offer anything I care about anyway.

Game 1

Okay, guess I'll just pick one of these classes here. Don't know what anything does but, whatever.

4-8

Well that was... hideously boring. Maybe it was the class...

Game 2

6-9

Well, I see bad spawns are still in this game. As well as people not dieing when I kill them and instead going into "relaxation" prone. Also.. did that guy explode after I killed him?

Game 3

8-6

Okay, I've stopped knifing when I meant to crouch. Going prone seems harder for some reason.

Game 4

"Lost Connection to host"

Lol! Hey, know how stuff like this never happens in BF3? Why do people play this game again? I can create a class now though. Let's see what we have here... Ah, I see the Heartbeat Sensor made a return. Though I haven't noticed anyone using it yet, oddly enough.

Game 5

5-11

Bah, screw Domination. I'll stick with TDM.

Game 6

5-15

Okay, guess it's time to stop using that gun... o.o

Game 7

10-12

Alright, yes, the gun was definitely the problem.

Game 8

15-13

Ground War seems a little more fun. Pump shotgun earned my my first 12 kill streak. I got the package that carries over even if you die.

Game 9

6-19

Bleh. I wonder if it doesn't count your kills for you in kill confirmed and not just the team? *shrug* Gonna give sniping a try...

Game 10

Okay, **** sniping. Switched to the Riot Shield half way and actually got some kills.

Game 11

6-11 with 12 assits

Ah, the riot shield. Pretty much the only thing in MW2 I liked.

Game 12

18-11

Okay, starting to get the hang of this. Despite quick scopers ****ing all over the experience.

Game 13

10-21

FFFFUUUUUU!

Game 14

Blah. I don't know how anyone can stand this ****.

Game 15

"Server connection timed out"

Seriously, WHY DO SO MANY IDIOTS BY THIS GAME?!

Game 16

24-9

Okay, well, that was kinda fun, though I suspect those kids were really terrible. And my team got EMPed 2-3 times that game. Hmm... I think I've found the most popular kill streak.

Game 17

20-19

I'm seeing at least 1 EMP a game. Kinda lame as it trumps pretty much all kill streaks which is just about the only thing enjoyable about this game.

Game 18

11-9

Got to try out the remote control recon helicopter. It's like a bad MAV that gives more points so...

Game 19

9-7

I flew the mini chopper again. Mission accomplished.

Game 20

15-19

*yawn*

Game 21

Zzzzzz....

End of day 1
Additionally, here's a list of actions that add to your "kill streak" which, again, doesn't end when you die.

-Kills (duh)
-Capturing an objective
-The Hardline perk (reduces the amount of kills you need by one or in other words lets you start with 1 kill)
-2 Assists (via Hardline Pro)[!]

Another thing to note is that after you get your final reward it cycles back to the first one. An obvious exploit is picking all rewards that require the fewest kills.

Needless to say, it only takes about a minute before any given match is overwhelmed with bull ****.

Oh, did I mention the maps? God are they awful. Each one is a small, cluttered mess that obviously had no thought put into it what so ever.

MW3 is just bad bad bad bad. So much bad.

I tried getting a head start with the classic controller, it'll feel awkward to everyone, but that's because we're not used to it.

I set the LZ button to jump so I can upb oos easily (once I get into the habit and it becomes muscle memory) with tj off.

Uhhhh.... The classic controller is actually pretty good, and the c stick is WAY better, plus the button layout it a lot better due to the close proximity of buttons (no more having to jump from X/Y to B). The only reason people dont like/use it are:

1. Wireless.
2. Not used to it.

So long as everyone needing to use wireless doesnt end up being a problem (I really do see this being the only problem, and if not done right by Nintendo, potentially a HUGE problem), once people get used to it, I see everyone starting to like the layout.

I find it annoying that you have to keep the wiimote attached though. That seems pretty annoying if you want to stand up. Unless there's a way you can play with it unattached.

Not that it's significant, but I find A sticking nairs a lot easier with CC's c stick.

It technically is better because of the closer buttons and the fact you get an extra Z button, which can help for ATs.

Put the Wiimote in your pocket, none of the buttons on it do anything once the Classic Controller is attached. The Home button MIGHT, but that button would be stupid hard to pocket press due to it being in the very middle of the Wiimote, and indented.

Also, yes, I did forget to mention the extra button. That extra button (Having LZ and RZ instead of just Z) means you'll be having an extra button to put controls onto, meaning more control customization as well.

I use classic controller, but from having lots of experience with the gamecube one I can tell you the only legtimate problem with CCPro is the left control stick when compared to the gamecube one.

CC's control sticks are a lot more "finnicky" than the gamecube controller's. I can buffer DownB out of a shield easier with the gcc than the ccpro, for example.

Oh yeah the wiimote thing is a problem too. Do not put it in your pocket, that's honestly a very bad idea. you need it to stay as close as possible to the wii, or else your sustained commands can get interrupted. You have no idea how many times I'd be playing with the CC and my character would suddenly stop dashing and walk, or drop shield and put it up again because the wiimote didn't have the best signal possible.
