The whole point of Wii Sports was just to show you what the Wii was capable of.

Things suck as "Chase Mii" are also made for that purpose. To be honest, I highly doubt that we'll be getting that mini-game, but it is possible.

What worries me are rumors of the 720 and PS4. What will those consoles be capable of? Will they change the way games are played even more so than the Wii U, and will they be significantly more powerful than the Wii U, just like how 360 and PS3 was more powerful than the Wii?

Let's face it. Wii U is not going to sell well if Microsoft and Sony make it seem like they're upcoming consoles are going to be worth it.

Which is why I sometimes despise gaming nowadays. People have been fooled into thinking that graphics make a game, and that a game has to be accessible to 5 year olds, despite having an M rating on the packaging. Now I'm just ranting, so I'll stop.

Anyways, cannot wait for Wii U, Nintendo changed gaming once again.
Here's the thing, in terms of Graphical Power PC>All, but who cares? No one. Nintendo will do fine because it has more IPs than anything else.

If it already looks better than Wii, it'll be good. And it has HD graphic support, while I expect not all games to be totally in HD, there surely will be quite a few good looking ones topping current PS3 and 360 games easily. And that's all what's really needed. With increased 3rd party support, I think this might be the best console Nintendo will have since N64 personally.

Here's hoping that they won't forget on some great first party titles though. A new Donkey Kong and StarFox would be great with increased graphics and a bit of a more defined cartoony character style. Think like the Brawl models, but even better refined, and maybe somewhat more cartoony like DKCR yet remaining the athestics of the envoirments in fully HD. Metroid and F-Zero would also look really good with fully HD I feel.

We have received word from a tipster, who wishes to remain anonymous, that a new Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing game could be on the way. Our tipster recently spoke to a high ranking staff member at development studio Sumo Digital, and when queried about new projects, the developer gave the below reply.

“Now working on another title for Sega on 3DS, VITA and WiiU. [The] title we are working on is top secret but the last game we did for them was Sonic And Sega All-Star Racing, so the logical conclusion would be… :)

While the game could be a sequel to 2010′s Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, there is also a possibility, given the platforms, that it could be a remixed version of the first game with new characters & courses specifically tailored to Wii U, 3DS & Vita. But having said that, the tipster informs us that the developer told them months ago that they will be doing no more additional work on the first game.

The Sonic Stadium has received proof of the discussion and the Sumo Digital source in question and have confirmed the authenticity of both. But, as the game has not been officially announced by SEGA and things can often change dramatically behind the scenes, we’re posting this up as rumour for now.

Would you like to see a new Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing game, or a remixed version of the first one? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Many thanks to our tipster for passing the information on to us. If you wish to send in any news tips to The Sonic Stadium, you can do so via the contact page.

Dude, come on. You should know that the average video game consumer doesn't know jack squat about building a gaming PC, let alone having to deal with constantly upgrading it. They want to buy a console they can plug into their TV and be done with it.

In regards to consoles, graphics are where the Wii suffers and other gamers flaunt to the PS3 and 360.

What I meant was that, in this day and age, people are more focused on graphics then the games themselves, something that Nintendo never did, which is why I applaud them.

So, if the upcoming MS and Sony consoles promise more than the Wii U, then gamers are going to think Wii U is going to be the Wii all over again, and flock to the other consoles.

Wii sold well because it was fresh and new. However, it got bashed because it didn't have squat for the gamer compared to other consoles. Wii U needs to show gamers what the U in Wii U will bring to them in order to be successful.

I'm also not sure what you mean by the game being accessible to 5 year olds despite having an M rating. Can't really blame any company in particular for that, its the parents fault that buy the game for their kids.
I meant the gameplay is so simple that it can be played by 5 year olds. Games are made way too easy these days, since devs just try making games accessible to everyone. But I mean, c'mon. If you have an M rating, at least have the gameplay reflect something of a higher intelligence, instead of making something stupid easy that even a 5 year old could play. (Which they do. Parents these days . . .)

Just watch this video to help see what I see.

Well what would you make the control scheme?

Should they make the RT button for jumping while they make the select button for shooting a gun in CoD? I'm not gonna play a game either if it has a ****ty control scheme you know. It wouldn't be fair to make the control scheme harder for someone to use for the hell of it.

Besides the title is rated M, it's not my fault parents love to buy toddlers those games and then blame it on the companies because they can't parent right. Especially since parents never complain when movies do the exact sort of thing games are doing with the "gangs, ****, and drugs". I mean you never saw my parets buying me resident evil when I was just 5 (aside from the fact that game scared me to ****). They did finally allow me to buy them when I was like 10, but I just happened to reach the age where I could see that kind of thing and not **** my diapers so idk.

Uhhhh, I was referring to gameplay. No one is going to play a game if the controls just suck: that's common knowledge. The gameplay is just too accessible, too easy. It does nothing to challenge the mind of the age group that the game was meant for.

Never really saw the point of this section of your argument. I understand that you wanted to share your own personal experience in the matter (which is something that I also went through,) but it never really made any significant point towards the matter.

All I will say is that parents should just be more mindful of ratings, but they aren't, so I can't really do much. Just annoying since the games are so easily accessible, that kids can play it with great ease, thus allowing them to get hooked onto the game that they cannot even purchase themselves.

Making games more difficult to play just turns kids off, as they want instant gratification. Take away that instant gratification, and less and less kids will want to play [X] game.

The difference between movies and games is, in games you control the actions.

Do people really not like Heavy Rain that much? Seems like most of the people I run into didn't enjoy it or thought it was okay. I was a fan of the PS2 "Indigo's Prophecy", and thought HR was a great spiritual successor.

How about Heavy Rain then?
Pretty much, parents complain about games more is the fact that games has the player in control of everything. F8AL's response was just saying that Heavy Rain is pretty much a movie in a ways. I don't think he was trying to bash Heavy Rain.

Indigo Prophecy is very close to the worst game I've ever completed.

and man, what a disappointment, it happens to have THE best opening to a game I've ever played.
I thought it was good for its time. I just got annoyed when the plot became totally weird, and you become Neo from the Matrix.

Well, MS and Sony have already started to focus on making it multi-media oriented with things like ESPN, HULU, and some other things. I know Wii has Netflix as well, but it's really the only thing it has. I wonder if they will be willing to incorporate the Club Nintendo stuff into DLC and what not.

And? Gaming consoles don't have to be multimedia. Besides, most people I know don't even use any of the multimedia features on the console. They just want to play games.

Cable and satellite usually can give you what the consoles can.

I wasn't trying to make a point of any sorts. Think from a business' perspective rather than a gamer's. I was just stating what makes these systems better at their network vs Nintendo aside from the online game store + gaming online. And you are foolish to think that having a multimedia system is nothing big. Did you know it was reported that HALF of Netflix users use it on their consoles? Not PC, not phone, but CONSOLES. But I guess that doesn't really matter right? I mean, let's just leave gaming consoles to be gaming so we neglect a whole audience.

People look for "all in ones" today more than anything. There's a reason why smart phone gaming has taken over as the majority over the 3DS and PSP Vita. There's a reason why homes are slowly turning into a place where you don't need a DVD, Blu-Ray, and gaming system, when you can have all 3 in one. It saves money for the consumer AND it profits the company who's willing to go that route.

You make a good point. This is actually one of the reasons that the PS2 and Xbox did better than the Gamecube. PS2 and Xbox were able to play DVD's and even had online play while the Gamecube did not (though I heard it had one online game).

I skipped most of the gamecube era, actually...

But looking back on it, I feel a little nostalgic.

It was the last era I had all 3 systems. Nintendo has always been the system with the most games I buy - leaving playstation to be "Final Fantasy Machine" and XBOX to be "Halo Machine"

Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy were seriously the only games I've ever bought on playstation

Whoa calm down.

No, I'm no fool. I'm only practical. Yes, it is helpful to have a Blu-Ray/DVD player built into your console. Yes, Netflix is mostly used on consoles. I know this already. It makes sense. I don't want a seperate DVD player when I can have a device that does that already.

I'm talking about other services such as Hulu Plus, ESPN, even Twitter or Facebook; those services are already being fulfilled by other devices in the average consumer's home.

Twitter/Facebook, computers/smart phones.
ESPN, your TV bill.
Hulu Plus, TV DVR.

Like I said before, out of all the people I know who use gaming consoles, they use it mostly for gaming: not the tacked on services.
Yes, I will admit, they use the DVD player and Netflix. I thought by now, that would have been a given as to what consoles are used for.

As for PSVita/3DS. They're out of their league to competing with phones. Why carry two devices when you can carry one? People who do still pick up handheld gaming devices buy them because they're going to use it to play games, not other side features. Maybe Netflix. But I would rather watch stuff on Netflix via my TV through a console than on a baby screen.

Whoa calm down.
First of all, nothing in my post implies I'm mad. Second, starting your post with "And?" is considered an insult.

Third, I'm not sure you understand how some of these "apps" work on Xbox. ESPN for example, if you have Xbox Live, you don't have to pay for this feature. This isn't a cheap feature by any means. If you're say, into college basketball, you get access to hundreds of games, while also being able to dual screen two games, or check the scoreboard of other games. How much do you pay for Live in a span of a year? 60 dollars? How much do you have to pay to your cable company to get that additional service per month? What if you have to upgrade your cable package in general to get that one channel? Definitely saves me money if you ask me, cause I could care less about getting all those extra cooking channels.

I'm not saying consoles are gonna replace cable companies, but you're being naive if you think these apps are there for nothing. I'd rather trust Microsoft's market research than some guy on the internet who thinks they aren't practical. They know their market. Things like twitter and facebook integration are only bonuses. When people decide to post their "killing streak" right after a match, those social networks are gaining business just as much as Microsoft is. If CoD sells even 1 million...how many of these people also have a facebook or twitter? On top of that, how many of these people will be willing to make an automatic post right after the match? Hell, you even see these social networks working back with them. I know Uncharted was offering bonus items and game cash if you went on their FB page.

And your statement is somewhat flawed. Yes most people use consoles for gaming, but when you say, "out of all the people I know", you are only taking into account the people...well you know. I know more people personally who use a PS3 just because it's a blu-ray player. So does that mean that's what most people use a PS3 for?

oh god yes. even wii-two would be better.
If they had to do that, they should make it more puntastic by calling it "WiiToo". I'm hoping this rumor is true and we get a cool name like "Stream", because I just can't see a name like "Wii U" helping the system out at all.

IMO, they should change the name so people know that it's the successor to the Wii.

Wii U is too similar.

You have no idea how many people thought the 3DS was JUST a DS with a 3D option, and not the next generation of DS's

When I first saw the Wii-U trailer, I didn't know it was the successor because it never actually showed the system. I thought it was a new wii accessory.

I heard they were going to unveil a console, but it was never shown

I think the name being too similar is what they're aiming for. It's so the people that aren't too into games recognize the name Wii and jump on getting the Wii U.
It's pretty smart. I'm guessing it won't matter for the hardcore players much since they'll be seeing news on the Wii U on gaming sites.

I don't see Nintendo changing the name Wii unless they wanted to change their image. And that's something they don't want to do at the moment since they're just continuing in the same direction as the Wii.

I thought it said somewhere that Nintendo wanted to aim more at "core" gamers with the Wii U? So wouldn't a change in image be necessary to accomplish that?
