I thought it said somewhere that Nintendo wanted to aim more at "core" gamers with the Wii U? So wouldn't a change in image be necessary to accomplish that?

So they've finally come crawling back to us? Heh.

You have no idea how many people thought the 3DS was JUST a DS with a 3D option, and not the next generation of DS's

When I first saw the Wii-U trailer, I didn't know it was the successor because it never actually showed the system. I thought it was a new wii accessory.

I heard they were going to unveil a console, but it was never shown

So much truth. My parents thought that the 3DS was some crappy remake with a 3D feature on it without actually realizing its actually a next gen handheld

IMO if they really want to differentiate from the Wii, change the appearance of the god damned thing. It basically looked like a fatter Wii put on sideways from the 5 seconds they actually showed the console. That, and the name, but meh, I've grown on the Wii U as the name and it helps Nintendo gain more money on the wii bran so idk

Should I get a Wii just for Brawl?

This is something that I've been thinking about for awhile. It's not that I don't see myself playing any other games on the Wii it's just that I really only want it for Brawl. If Brawl didn't exist I probably wouldn't consider owning one. I know asking this question here may get me some biased answers but I think I'll get a few honest ones as well. Here's some info on me that may help:

- I currently have no other video game consoles (I sold my 360).

- I like action adventure, platformer and fighting games.

- I have a lot of time on my hand (due to personal reasons) so I need something to entertain me for a few hours.

Well the Mario Galaxy games are good platformers. As for action adventure I hear No More Heroes is good.

Wii has cumulated a respectable amount of games to play over the years. You won't get much like in the fighting department though. You're better off using a PS3 or 360 for that. Just to add onto the list of Xan's

I like at how people forget that there is a Capcom Vs. game on Wii.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom is a great fighter.

I don't see how tournaments matter, the guy could just play the game with his friends. Or are there online tournaments or something?

Online is pretty solid for TvC. I rarely play on it because I suck at the game and get pooped on every match, but it doesn't lag very often, and when it does lags, it isn't unplayable lag. However, even if I mention the word rarely, I did get quite a bit of matches in.

People still play the game online too. Not sure how the game fares with tournies now, but you don't need tournies to enjoy a game.

Yeah that's true, but it shouldn't be the sole determining factor in buying a fighting game.

I prefer wifi, because none of my friends are hardcore at whatever games I get interested in. I don't even play with the same people online, it's just whoever I run into. Good or bad.

I don't like Wi-Fi all too much except for certain games such as Monster Hunter, or in games that my friends don't play.

All in all though, if my friends are into certain games, we just go over to each other's house and play. Its more fun that way, but that's just us.

I'm not sure if Wii-U wifi connection is going to be promising. But with Nintendo Network, It looks like it's going to be pretty nice.

While I wish Nintendo the best of luck with the Wii U and it's online infrastructure, I don't have very high hopes or expectations for the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

The first problem I have is FCs, sure it's gotten better over the years with the 3DS but they scare serious gamers away.

And second, past history makes me weary.

But we'll see, I hope that Nintendo can prove me wrong!

Well yeah people get occasionally hacked. What Time was talking about though was when Sony took this one guy to court because he posted on the internet how to hack/jailbreak the PS3, because of this, Anonymous took down the entire PSN.

Communities seems to be a great idea that has yet to be used for online gaming. I think it'll help people find others with similar gaming tastes, or if you want to play with your group of friends.

And since there's going to be add-ons and DLCs, SSB4 is going to shine bright.

Isn't the new FE game coming out for the 3DS having paid DLC?

Yep. Fire Emblem was said to have DLC for it. I think it may also be one of the first 3DS games to do so.

I've been to gamespot before until I wanted someone to perma-ban me, lol.

This is pretty interesting. I never have played fire emblem but I did hear it's a very nice game. I'll be looking foward to trying it out.

FF3 was my favorite game on the DS until DQ9 came out
