Considering that the PlayStation 2 was less powerful than the Gamecube or Xbox . . . .no. The difference in power will be minor at best, and it will definitely not be as extreme as the graphical difference between the Wii and it's competition. If all that developers cared for was power, the PS3 and X360 would have barebone libraries because PCs are superior. The problem with the Wii though was that it's lack of power was so noticeable that the PS360PC developers would practically have to redesign their games from the ground up to work with it.
The power differential between the PS2, Xbox, and GC was minimal at best. I don't know when they plan to come out with PS4 or 720, but if they do wait a few years, then it's very possible the consoles can be stronger than what the Wii U can provide. Remember, the PS2 was out for about 5 years before the PS3 debuted. The PS3 is currently entering its 6th year, while Xbox is entering it's 7th year. People also say that it's impossible to make that big of a graphical jump, but look at these. Real in game graphics.

Now currently, something like this would cost about 2000-2500 dollars. When Crysis 1 came out in 2008, it would have cost around 1100 to run on max. Now it costs about 600. Crysis 2 on max settings cost about 1100 dollars on PC to make.
What I'm saying is, it would not surprise me if the PS4 and 720 at least obtain Crysis 2 on max settings. Given the fact PC parts also have to accommodate for other aspects (Windows OS), consoles tend to cut corners.
And the comparison to consoles and PC is not a good one. Consoles are simplistic, mainly gaming machines that anyone can plug in and play. PCs require one to have the knowledge to how to open up their desktop, and be able to upgrade it when the time comes. On top of that, you would constantly be making purchases throughout the years, where as a console is a one time purchase and that's it. Now tell me which one is easier for the average Joe?
We don't know much about the Wii U, but most reports say it's slightly better than the PS3. And there are other concerns like improving from the Wii menu, incorporating things like Hulu, Netflix, and other "apps" in a better way. Online play is another concern as well.
