You know, the OC used to be good during season 1, but after that, it all went downhill. Blatant attempts at male fanservice (Marissa turning temporarily lesbian and making out with other hot chicks), a complete lack of actual progression (major problems are miraculously resolved in 1 episode), and really awful story arcs just completely ruined the show. Now that Marissa's gone and replaced by her less-attractive and completely uninteresting sister, the whole Ryan-Marissa dynamic's gone to ****. Great job, Fox.
... I know all this. Still doesn't stop it from being an incredibly high rating show here =P. Oh, and while Caitlin might not be as interesting, she's wayyyyyyy more attractive than Marissa. Marissa was too thin >_>. Almost anorexic.

Anyways, back on topic. I preordered my Wii a couple days ago, so I'm guaranteed one on Aus launch day (December 7th... a day that will not live in infamy /lame) ^_^.

*chuckles* Oh man! You'll pwn the broadband world, applejack: you'll be going so slow, that you'll actually be going faster than everyone else! How is this possible? Well according to Einstein's theory of general relativity....

Nintendo seriously needs to fix this problem; all it would take is a few server upgrades or a firmware update. Why lock out potential customers? Heck, even XBox live let 56Kers do anything they wanted.

I tried using my cell-phone (125-134K) with the same exact results as my connection (49.2 according to the computer...real world speed of 43-44K). However, this may just be do, in part, to a cell-phone's flawed broadband system. I'd really like to find someone who has ISDN and find out if that would be enough to handle the Wii Shop Channel.

I was just thinking,is anyone having any problems with their Wii?

I have only encountered a couple:

1st problem was after i got home on launch day,it wouldn't read the disk(I think i put it in the wrong way)so i took it out and put it in again, then it read the disk,i clicked the game channel and began to play..so as it was loading it was all black screen, and didn't fully load up,i couldn't reset my system iether,so i unpluged it,and pluged it back in.Up from that everything was.

2nd problem was when i was playig Wii sports. When i played it for a while,it froze up on me and made an annoying buzzing noise. So i have decided that i'm going to return my Wii soon and get a new one and just roll over my insurance i got from best by to my new Wii(2 year insurance is good=)).

I know these problems are common, but they just bug me.Anyone else have the same problem?

I've had no problems at all with mine so far. Maybe you scratched the disc when you put it in backwards? It's possible :p

In Hannible, Missouri (know a chick up there, wink wink), they did a midnight opening for the Wii and it was quickly gone.

They didn't do a **** thing about the PS3. /chuckles

And about all those errors, I had a problem like your loading screen thing once, but it was to the Mii Channel. I updated my system and it was gone. Make sure you've updated your system completely.

I, too, haven't had enough time to play it. I've put only 7 hours on Zelda...that's less then an hour per day on average (wow, I am a loser). Batteries, eh, not so much, due to the fact that, as afore mentioned, I haven't had much chance to play. My sister/parents LOVE the thing, so I have to wrestle the controllers from them. Oh well...now maybe they'll buy me games. :-D Besides, FFIII is keeping me entertained.

As for this whole Internet thing...I have no idea what to say. I think Nintendo made a fairly big mistake by not making it easily accessible to 56k users. Nintendo says they want everyone to play, but lo and behold, only a few can play to the full potential.

Anyways, news:

3 VC games added last night/early this morning: Ecco(!), Super Star Soldier, and Golden Axe.

Red Steel 2 in the works?:

If you add are recieving a mii from someone when you boot up the Mii channel, but your internet is beign slow or not working, it'll get stuck wherever your internet cut out. It's happened to me a couple times now.

As for red steel 2, that had better happen. I like Red Steel, but a RS2 with better Wii graphics, tighter and more customizable control, wifi, more stages for multiplayer....that would all be incredible.

Wii needs a killer online game, and unfortunately, I don't see any current franchise that can fill that role. Metroid could possibly pull it off, but the arm-cannons get restrictive of bad-*** weapons. We need a game that can kick Halo's *** from top to bottom: It needs vehicles, it needs a cool theme (Honestly, if I see another WWII game, I'll scream), it needs a large, tactically intriguing and balanced set of weapons, it needs to be at least 16 person multiplayer online, and all the other sugar that goes on top of a FPS.

I also realized, while playing Company of Heroes and not touching my keyboard for 30 minutes, that the Wii could easily be used for RTS's, as long as it's powerful enough to process the new ones (like CoH).

It's happened to me once with Wii Golf, but that's it. I don't like golf anyways, so I wasn't too annoyed. And since no wierd stuff has happened with anything else that has to do with my Wii, I'm not too worried either. It's probably a game flaw that it froze, not the Wii, so keep hold of it.

My controller mysteriously desynched on it's own, and I cant get it to connect again. I guess I'll have to pull the plug and give it a hard reset. :(

My Wii remote was messing up earlier as well. I didn't know what was wrong with it, but after I reset my Wii once or twice, it went back to normal. I have no idea. The Wii holds many mysteries. lol.

I turn my Wii on and put Twilight Princess in and it freezes. Kind of early for this to be going on. Might be what I get for putting 60 hrs on the game in 4 days. But we all have computers that glitch all the time and know its not a big deal.

Viewtiful...you make me jealous. I've put slightly more then 45 minutes per day (on average) into it.

Although today I've dubbed 'Zelda Day,' meaning I go home and play Zelda till I drop.

School? Huh?

Confirmation about the 'every Monday' for VC thing...it had me confused, at least. Other then that, an interesting interview with NoA president (Reggie) and a release date for Mario: March-Xmas.

Pretty unlike Nintendo? The entire "campaign" for the Wii has been 'we'll tell you more later'.

The "suprise" is probably something lame like a Santa Clause Mii.

I was thinking about this on the way home from Moogle's today (jeah, I still play Smash! I got TP in my Wii right now, and what am I doing? Smashing!).

I doubt the gift will be the Browser. I expect the browser to be introduced early December, probably with the launch of Japan.

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more ability to customize Miis, honestly. My family, sister especially, loves it, but even I feel ripped off by the fact that you cannot change your clothes.

or the fact that they don't offer anthro/furry customizations.

Still, I'm betting it's the browser, though I could be wrong.

Or perhaps, with the insane turnout of the Wii Component cables, Nintendo will go back on their word and release a 720p or 1080i firmware upgrade. I doubt it though...

Fox P McCloud as much as I would like to see a 720p or 1080i upgrade ( that would be so bangin'), I doubt its gonna happen. Oh and I wouldnt hold my breath over anthro/fury miis either. By the way, whats the "P" stand for?

And FireBomb mabe, mabe not. But I would have my Wii connected just to be safe. Nobody likes to miss out on a surprize

Boo, I'm not getting my Wii until the holidays. No surprise for Pye : (

Anyway, Brawl isn't mentioned in that interview. You know, it would really piss me off if Nintendo announces that Brawl will release at like X-mas 2007, then give us NO INFO on it at all until maybe November 2007.

Any Starcraft fans remember Starcraft: Ghost? I remember checking the official Blizzard site for Ghost in late 2004, and seeing that the last update had not been since March 2003. Almost a year and a half of nothing.

I'd really like to see Brawl before next March, but somehow I doubt it. ****it, why did they announce the game so early! Getting us all excited, then starve and torture us. Cruelty!

No surprize for FireBomb either... Need better computer/ connection.

They need to tell us early so more word gets out about it. We've known about Zelda for...EVER and look what happened. It's an amazing game, and 75% of all people who have a Wii also have Twilight Princess. That or they just want us to suffer.

I'm guessing the "surprize" will be something small, like maybe the release of a VC game for free? Although, that would shaft a lot of people without high speed...I personally wouldn't mind some free Wii Points.

I imagine the 'surprise' will be done in some form of an update (I.E., if you happen to not be connected that day, don't worry too much).

The reason for announcing Brawl so early is (maybe) because they thought it would be ready for launch. Then, when it wasn't, they couldn't take it back, so they hyped it up.

And don't count on an Q1 'o7 release. I'd be surprised for anything besides a late Q3 or Q4.

[Edit:]

And was Ghost really canned? Surely not...it's been in the works for so long...

True. Remember that guy we had to race in OoT who always won ny one second?

I think the surprise will be something along the lines of an extra channel thing for the Wii's homepage. (There's the picture editing one, the Mii channel, the weather and news channels...) Something like that. It will be lame but not too lame.

Edit: Channels, not menus.:) Thanks.

Commonyoshi- You mean you think they are going to give us another channel? That is a definite possibility. There are so many spaces for wii channels. I can't imagine what they would put in all of those slots. 'Tis ridiculous.

I can concur with that. With all those slots they got to have something in the works.

You didnt understand me there chill. What I ment was that it's strange how open Reggie was in that interview. He was answering questions before they were even asked. It's a known fact that Nintendo likes to keep things on the DL.

My personal airing of grievances

Issues that the Wii has, and should be addressed, if there's ever Wii 2.0:

1) Make the speaker on the Wiimote better. Please. The sound quality is awful.
2) Make the Classic Controller truly wireless, instead of having us plug in into the Wiimote and letting it dangle like a. . .well, you get the idea.
3) Give us rechargeable batteries for the Wiimotes, or give us death. Preferably, the former.
4) Give us a music player for the Wii Channels--we can play custom music in games only? What's up with that?
5) Make the nunchuck slightly heavier. It's so light now, that I fear I might accidentally break it if I sneeze.

Small issues, I know, but they're legitimate ones that I think are important nonetheless.

And speaking of the Wii, did anyone watch Today on NBC this morning? Al Roker stopped by Nintendo World Store, and the line at 8 AM was the length of the entire block. Some people went as early as 3 AM just to get in line. I'm flabbergasted that demand has remained this high, especially this late into the launch. Craziness.

It makes me feel better, since now it seems like my 13 hour launch-day wait in Times Square was completely justified. :chuckle:

Any one have a DS? They have extra blocks but when connected they fill with things like updates and stuff (so Ive been told). I wonder if they will do the same for the Wii.

For those still looking for a Wii or any accessories, try again this weekend, most likely Sunday. It seems the Remote/Nunchuks are starting to become harder to find than the actual Wii itself...

Um, no? The only possible application the Wii might have so far in terms of the DS is being able to download demos which can then be transferred to your DS, a la DS Download Station style. There's been no mention of the DS being used as a Wii channel or such...although, I'm sure they are working on something that will allow you to play the DS on the Wii.

It's already been worked out. That online Pokemon game uses the DS to connect.

Anyways, let's look at this list done by Maelstrom:

1) Make the speaker on the Wiimote better. Please. The sound quality is awful.
I bet it'll get improved, but not until the cost of producing the Wii itself goes down. I'd betcha a nickle!

4) Give us a music player for the Wii Channels--we can play custom music in games only? What's up with that?
I agree with this. Given, you can go into the Photo Channel and play things, but it's so shotty...why not just create a new channel all together?

5) Make the nunchuck slightly heavier. It's so light now, that I fear I might accidentally break it if I sneeze.
My problem with the nunchuck is that the motion sensing in it is just bad. In Zelda, I pretty much have to break my wrists to do the full circle.

That threw me off, too. It almost seems like Nintendo is just about to do something, as in anyday now, and they don't care if we know about it. Eerie.

And CommonYoshi, I'd like another channel, so long as it isn't teh suck.

While Smash Bros does pwn all but a few deserving multiplayer games, I don't think Smash can fill the online roll like Halo has. The reason is that a fighting game demands even less lag than an FPS, and because Smash is just more fun to play in groups, while an FPS is much better with your own TV screen. Wii basically needs a Halo rip-off. It can be a different time. A different theme. But it needs to have the core elements that have made Halo a success. That is: A good online interface, available patches, and a decent game. (By the way, by decent game, I mean the opposite of Red Steel, whose lack of weapons, levels, or anything interesting at all strikes me as absolutely astounding.)

On a different note, anyone played Call of Duty 3 for Wii? Is it good, or should I save my money for Metroid 3 (Well, I'm doing that anyway, but whatever)...
