It supposedly takes a while to receive messages, due to congestion and what not. You should have received them by now...if not then maybe it got eaten by the Internet. Go fig.
The Internet and News channel should be available in January last I heard. The Forecast channel should be ready in December. It's not like they're needed that badly, because you do have a comp in front of you...
From my understanding, this seems to mostly affect people who received the earliest shipments (i.e. if you had a startup disc with your Wii), so most people won't encounter this problem. Various other problems have been reported with Remotes, Disc Read Errors, Overheating, etc. Most of these problems are due to user error (no joke either, some people just don't get it or they refuse to read the instruction manuals...), but a few are actually due to defects. Of course, the number is incredibly low, so it probably doesn't affect anyone here. Be glad is Nintendo is trying to help everyone out for free.
Well, I was patient enough to download the first two...so I think I can tolerate the others. (I'll just update at night). Sadly, I live "out in the middle of nowhere" so I have to travel a little bit to actually find someone that has broadband. Ahh well, there's always my father's office.
Start-up disk? Hmm, I definitely didn't get that, thank goodness. About the only problem I really had was my Wii-remote was suddenly, and inexplicably not synced with anything. Whenever I pressed any button it would just sit there and flash. And for those looking to get a Wii during Black Friday, if you've never been to a Black Friday sale, it's a lot worse than you can ever imagine. I guarantee it.
I just picked up a preorder that was never picked up at EB. SCREW YOU, Target!!! Good thing today's my day off.I would have gotten one at Target this morning if four guys hadn't cut us in line. My brother and I got there at 4 AM, the four guys came at like 6:30, and they handed out tickets at seven. Then the employees, after a few other people and I told them they cut, gave them tickets anyway. But what I was more mad about was how Target didn't do one per household like every other store, instead they did one per customer, and one family of six walked out with one each, even the eight-year-old looking kids.
Well, I never relished the idea of display any console vertically, so I just popped off both of the Gamecube flaps on the side, and displayed it horizontally. Personally, I think it looks better that way. Also, I might add, I think it's safer; if you or a friend gets excited while playing a Gamecube game, you might pull the system over (yes, even with the circular disk). I'm setting up right now; I can't believe all the manuals for this thing, holy crap. Also, I plugged in the power source, and the light was already red... I don't know what that means yet, but it's a little bit worrying. My brothers don't get home from work or school for a while, it's just going to be me, Link, and a Wiimote and Nunchaku for the next three hours.
Oh hey, was anyone else worried about how sturdy the stand was? I know Nin makes really hardy consoles, but it didn't seem real secure in the stand, even with the circular bottom; better safe than sorry
Theoretically, they should be nearly the same speed, but some people don't have a choice and have to use the WiFi connector. If you have wireless already setup in our your house, then connecting the Wii is similar to connecting the DS. Just know that the connection is kind of slow due to traffic congestion and your individual broadband. You'll have to download two updates before you can shop on the Shop Channel or mess around with SD card data.
Wii's problems to be ironed out before local launchWow, sounds like there are alot of problems with the Wii. o.0 Jeez, I hope they resolve all the issues for the Australian release.
