This is true.

Bowser can beat D3. lol
^this, I know someone who only WA's best ddd can win (and it's really close too).

my main reasons lots don't like him, imo:
-scrub undying first impressions that he still stinks of melee horribleness.
-People still listen to Gimpyfish (who hardly does Brawl anymore and uses sheik), who has hardly validity in Brawl Boozer.
-somewhat odd playstyle, and the ones who do know how good he is from friendlies with good bowsers have a resenting stigma from thinking "sideB 'booze bouncing' is gay, as is grab release-> safe kill moves, ftilt range, and upB oos" (aka me)
-D3 phear
-ppl don't like to sit out of double eliminations because they could pick a char that doesn't have a **** matchup (aka most switch for MK, snake, and sidekick Wario-boy)
-No one makes assisted living centers for the reptilian homeless

-^He just doesn't send a good vibe for the kiddies.

Because his new voice isn't as badass.

Also, he suffers from mid tier syndrome.

Not good enough for people who like top tiers, and not bad enough to be reverse tier wh0red.

In reality, he's just decent, and decent doesn't cut the mustard with most personalities. Did I mention his Melee roars were better? :chuckle:

Also, why main Bowser if you have Chapzard? At least Chapzard can switch to Ivy and Squirtle for more versitality and fun.
The real question is, why are you comparing Bowser and Charizard? The only similar move they have is their neutral b. It's like saying, "Why play Pit when you can play Meta Knight?"
But I think that Bowser is unpopulair because people don't like him as a character (Ganondorf gets all the attention as the bad guy) and they think that he is useless. Maybe he is lol I don't know but in Melee he was.
That is EXACTLY what people are talking about when they mention Melee-based asssumptions. Man, why does nobody assume characters like Kirby, G&W, and Pikachu suck based purely on their Melee tier positions :p

@Bowser vs Ivysaur: Ivysaur definitely doesn't **** Bowser. I think it's a pretty even matchup personally. I'd go into detail but blah blah this isn't the matchup thread or something (plus I'm lazy). The video Spadefox posted isn't a very good example though because the Pokemon Trainer was really bad

It's still in Bowser's favor. Bowser has the easiest time with Ivy because of the standing Regrab Bowser has on him. It's like Bowser verse DeDeDe. You have to just not get grabbed. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, Ivysaur takes more damage from fire based attacks than normal.

It's like Bowser vs Dedede... except Ivysaur can air break. Ivysaur doesn't take more damage from fire attacks, but rather more knockback. This makes firebreath worse against Ivysaur (but also better against Squirtle)

Oh it's knockback? I thought it was damage (which makes more sense). And so what if Ivysaur can airbreak? Lest you forget his horrible UpB.

Air breaking means it is nowhere near the standing (or rather, slowly walking) chaingrab Dedede has against Bowser. Ivysaur's upb has nothing to do with this

Yeah, the fact that Bowser wasn't all that great back in Melee is probably the main reason. I remember when Melee was announced and I heard Bowser was in the game. I couldn't wait to play him. Then I found that he wasn't all that good. It wasn't until near the end of Melee's life, when Brawl was announced did I start playing him in Melee again.

Now, Brawl's out, and I absolutely love Bowser. But it's unfortunate, because even in Brawl, with Bowser being considerably better, not very many people like to play him. I think it's also because he's dubbed the biggest and the heaviest character, and with that, people believe that because that is so, he can't possibly be a match-up against any of the quicker characters.

Yeah its not an infinite. The way i get out of it is by side dodge to fortress to safety. Honestly, i have yet to try to jump out. Its not that bad for us considering all the crap we can do to wario through grab releases.

When first played him, he had lag. I abandoned him. Later, I read a bowser guide, in need of help, and discovered many useful techniques. SHFair, Grab release, Klawhopping, OoS, and bunch of others.

He's interesting. We should keep him a secret and unveil him when we become the ultimate MK counter. LOL no.

btw, can some people give me approaching/defensive techniques? Mine are becoming predictable. PM or reply!

Thanks!

I used to main Bowser in Melee, but have hardly played him in all the time I've owned Brawl. I guess, like me, people become disenchanted with him over time.

I honestly don't play him as much anymore. The only time I can play against other people is when it's against more than one person, and Bowser doesn't handle the multi man melee's too well. :( Also, I've yet to use a GC controller that didn't feel old or at least a little unresponsive. Considering switching to the Classic. x_x

Bowser was unpopular even when Gimpy still played.
This is all johns.
Gimpyfish made me want to main bowser with his Up-B shanangins.

I think there should be a sticky on the bowser boards.

"BOWSER IS NOT SLOW"

If i remember correctly, he's actually like the 6th fastest in the air.

His side-B gives him like an instant jump if you time it when your about to land.

I play bowser as serious as I play metaknight.

It's because he's weird. I can't click with his playstyle; I just end up flopping all over the place trying to ftilt someone or spamming Fortress OoS.

I might even consider swapping Mario for Bowser... but don't tell anyone.
