In your head >.>
If gunkshot can be learned pretty much by all monkeys i would assume its coming out of the back end, so why skuntank cant learn sludge just may have to do with the fact that sludge doesnt come from that end.

also how cant dragonite learn Shadow claw, but it does have dragon claw >.>

Eggmanland, obviously.
I think it has something to do with how D-nite can learn Superpower and Focus Punch whereas Mence cannot.

Probably that Nite's claws aren't well developed for other claw moves. So he get punching moves instead of scratching moves.

*shrug* My thoughts.

Dragonite is more humanoid in shape than Salamence so it makes more sense. Dragonite does actually have arms, although pudgy for Focus Punch. Salamence is much more lizard-like.

...Why does Starmie get Thunderbolt and Thunder? It's extremely unprecedented in waters and most Psychics, so why does it get them?

1- Thunder Wave isn't Thunderbolt/Thunder
2- Kyogre is Uber.

So the only things left there are Starmie/Lapras/Bibarel

Bibarel has normal typing, so it has SOME affinity with Electric due to normal usually getting tons of stuff.

Starmie and Lapras still put me in the clueless zone though.

gyarados learns it too....

it could be becasue they're magical pokemon, like mystic stuff

i think the slowpoke family learning flamethrower/fire blast is weirder

Either that or Starmie has that core thing that's supposed to flash into the sky and send strange signals or something. Possibly related to electricity, hence why it gets those two moves?

Gyarados learns Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, as well as the more powerful versions of the special beams. Starmie just lacks Flamethrower, while Slowbro/king lack Thunderbolt.

Ya know how Starmie's rear star spins?

I think it can generate electricity that way and unleash it though its core.

That still doesn't quite explain how Slowbro and Slowking get Flamethrower.
Oh psh, that's easy.

Slowbro is so stupid that it ignores the way Water-types work.

Slowking is so smart that it ignores the way Water-types work.

Hey, can Victribell learn Power Whip? If it can't, then what. It has a whip-like thing anyway and it learns Vine Whip...

Ha, mispelled it.

Even if Victreebel gets Leaf Blade I think it should get Power Whip since it DOES have a vine and it has a nice Attack stat to boot.

Maybe it'll get Power Whip in Gen 5.

The only 'evil' ones as far as my opinion goes is Team Rocket, since they're in it for money. Aqua, Magma, and Galactic are all uh, weird...

Gardevoir learns Will-o-Wisp as an Egg Move, and can't learn it via TM. wat

It's like Gamefreak WANTS us to get annoyed.

I haven't checked Smogon, but my game says I can't use a Calm Mind TM on Noctowl. Why the heck can't Noctowl learn Calm Mind? >_>

Maybe it hits them hard enough so that they fly way out of the ring, effectively taking them out of the battle XD.
