why do you think lucas sucks for tourns

First off, call him Inui and not Lucas. Second of all, he doesn't suck. He beats good players all the time. Are you referring to that video of Chu brutally *** ****** him? Yeah, well Chu beat me too so do I suck?

Lucas is completely tourny worthy, but is he at a disadvantage? yes
Lucas is my main and i do quite well in tourneys. Just beware of Marth.

I hate when people say "not tourney viable," as if that character can't win a tournament. Of course you can win if you're good enough. Look at Gimpy from Melee.
Does it mean you'll need to be significantly better than your opponents if you play Lucas? Yes, but that's what you sign up for when you play Lucas.

When the hell did I say tiers don't exist? Read my entire post. I said you'd have to be "significantly better" than your competition. If you want to play a low tier character, go for it. Just realize what you're signing up for.

But yea, on topic. Lucas won't get you very far in tournaments because I've fought some really good lucas's and I could beat them. Brawl is unblananced like that where pretty much a lot of chars aren't tourny viable, though this dosn't mean that you can't play Lucas at all in tournament matches, but it does mean that you aren't going to be winning tournies with lucas as your rep.

When placed in the right hands, these characters may have potential.
As for Lucas, me personally, I don't like him. At all.
But does that mean he sucks? No, not at all.

no - not every character can win at tournaments
yes - tiers are EXTREMELY significant at the top levels of play

....which is why they aren't considered "tourney viable" as you would have to be playing at a higher level than your opponent, which isn't hard in small tournies but gets harder and harder as the level of play rises, so no, at the highest levels of play, some characters are not considered "tourney viable". the fact that we can call them "unviable" is because such a high gap in skill difference simply does not exist at the highest levels of play.

Lucas cannot win a tournament thats fillent with proficent players. Anyone who realizes they can grab Lucas then kill him on release will beat you. This is like saying "Don't get grabbed", easier said than done. If you're playing at top levels of play it WILL happen and you WILL lose.

The strengths and weakness of all characters are what build the meta game. As a Lucas, the biggest thing I can do to win any tournament is to minimize damage and stock lost from errors, and maximize my opponents errors and exploit them. This is the point of competitive play, and I feel that, generally speaking, the best character I can do this with is Lucas.
Have I won any major tournaments as Lucas? no. Have I won any tournaments as Lucas? yes. Lucas is certainly a tournament viable character.
Why is this even a topic, when Lucas is not the lowest tiered character? Make this about Link or Ganondorf or Captain Falcon.

...*Twitch* Lucas? Not tourney viable? No way. I respect that others have different opinions, but I believe any character can win despite tiers. I've seen people win tourneys with Jigglypuff, and I've seen alot of people play well with nearly every character. It all just depends on different peoples play styles.

Louisiana has one of the best Lucas players, Pierre. (he doesn't post)
He consistently makes top 5 in our tournaments, under Lee Martin (top 10 in nation), myself, Sudai (mod on ROB boards), and Nick. He's beaten sudai and nick in tournaments, and went 1-1 in TX tourney matches w/ Hylian, i forget his name but some respected DDD playe lol, etc.

That D3 player was Foursaken. Also, yes, Pierre's Lucas is ****. I'll make sure I get him recorded at the next tourney so you guys can see. I think he actually has some matches up from two tournies ago, but w/e.
