Why are you here? What keeps you playing SSBB or smash in general? What drives you to continue going to tournies?

For me:
I have pretty much left and quit because I am joining the Navy and all around lost interest in Brawl.
So I will talk about yesteryear.

I came here to gain in knowledge and to try and give back. SWF was also my escape from the real world. When I came here I was just another screen name and that meant something to me.
Around 2009 some confusing times arose. I was finishing up high school and was starting to take some college level subjects. I was struggling with them on some aspects, mainly the time restraint.
Now it's not that I am stupid, it's that I am geared differently. When I was 7 months old I started walking (pretty much skipped crawling) and by the age of 5 I could pronounce most dinosaur names in Latin in their entirety. At age 3 I started making a make shift comic. It had no words and I would tell the story. This story has evolved into I book that I am still writing to this day.

Through my life I have always became fascinated about one thing and worked very hard at that one thing. When my mind goes onto that one thing it stays there, even in sleep. Brawl became one of those things between late 08 and late 09 as well as a little bit in late 010.
During this time I tried to progress Sheik farther than any other character. My temper got the better of me from time to time though. lol

So that is why I came here. As to why I still come here every so often.... I like to chat, and troll.
This past year I was diagnosed with an extreme case of dyslexia. I am currently going into the Navy to be a physical therapist.

What about you? How did you find SWF, what have you tried to do here and most importantly, why are you still here?

I haven't played Smash in years (more or less literally), and never played competitively even when I did play it.

How did you find SWF
First found here through chance (or something else I don't remember) back in 2004 or so and then again in '06 through Simna Ibn Sind's PK Thunder (+YYG) guide videos.

what have you tried to do here
Nothing.

Because I love to troll people.

I love SSBB, but I haven't played it in about a year because I got bored of it.
And I hate competitive gaming.

I like to chat, and troll.

I found SWF through Smash Wiki.
Haven't tried to do anything here, except piss people off.
Doing something for an internet forum is stupid.

Omnicron was quite nice as a newbie though hahaha.

So many people just throw in the towel and become trolls, lol.

Only reason I really stay is the DR and of course all the people in it.

Never went to any tournys, probably never will. I tried to understand Brawl and how to play it but I usually found myself trying to help other people and regurgitating back things I read. So yup I didn't help much, if at all.

Couldn't tell you the last time I played Smash.

I've never been to a tourney before, and I am not too sure if I will ever get into the competitive scene to go to one. I just found this forum being mentioned a lot in a "Brawl vs. Melee" discussion on another forum, so curiously I just typed in smashboards.com and here I was. I do still play Smash occasionally, but not near as much as I used to, I am trying to play it more though for casual purposes with friends.

I generally like the community here, it is one of the most mature communities I've seen on a forum, that's for sure. Plus I have met some cool people on this site, so it is nice to keep in contact with them.

Good topic. Very clean post for an "extreme dyslexic"--no offense of course.

I come here to hang out on Sonic and stage boards, though I really just camp New Post button. I keep the trolling to a minimum :p I'm also looking for local tournaments (my area doesn't have many) and hope to improve to the point that once I'm out on my own I could reach more far-flung events.

Dyslexia affects people differently. Some people have trouble telling time, some people can't tell right from left, some can't spell, some can't write and others simply can't do anything with numbers.
Me, I am very good with sentence structure. If you make a sentence and leave words out I can read it and fill words in while I read without meaning to do it. It makes proof reading annoying some times. -_- I can also reword a sentence while I am reading some times without meaning to. I however, have a really difficult time reading out loud. My spelling is also very horrible and inconsistent. For example, I spelled inconsistent right but I spelled really wrong by saying (realing) and when I tried to spell spelled I wrote (spelly). I have to really focus to spell things right. Some times I will put "yous" instead of "use". Thank god for spell check.
I also can not do math to save my life. I flunked Algebra several times and I only passed because the teacher took pitty on me. I still can not basic Algebra. Anything that takes a formula I can not do. If I can see it applied I can learn it no problem.

It was diagnosed as an extreme case of dyslexia because of my very poor application of formulas. Still though, I can do something like memorize every bone in the body and point them out. That is why I am going into physical therapy. It is very practical and I can see it working. lol, I blew the ASVAB out of the water on every subject but math, I failed almost every math section and still scored high enough to get medical.

Haven't played Smash competitively since Brawl came out.

I stick around because I'm rather fond of the other users who frequent the light house.

Plus I don't feel like getting to know an entirely new community.

I found SWF after some random searching. I'm really glad I did. It took me a whole year to figure out there were actually offline tournaments though.

Here, I just communicate with other smashers and try to get to tournaments. I don't consider myself ready to be an authority in anything smash related yet, so I don't contribute with MU discussions and stuff yet, except the tier list thread.

I'm still here because I want to get better at the game. When I get into college, my activity should increase.

The only reason I still come here is for the friends I've made. I don't even play smash anymore.

Eh, wrote the Jigglypuff guide for Brawl so I kinda have some obligation to at least lurk the forums in case some ground breaking AT comes out for puff
which we all know will never happen at this point
. I go to tournies when I can... for the people and social aspect.

I genuinely like the game and such. I do attend tournaments often and I love the friends I've made on here. Plus User Blogs and the tier list thread makes it worthwhile. So even if I didn't play Brawl anymore, I'd still come here for a laugh.

Why am I here? Because normally I like a good argument every now and then, as long as it's well thought out and about something that in the long run doesn't particularly matter.

However, real life has made it so I enjoy arguments less, and the arguments around here and getting more and more pathetic. :( So many repeating arguments, holes in logic, and poorly thought out statements...it's getting to the point where nearly any argument is basically the equivalent of a "I know you are, but what am I?" defense. :/

Oh, and I guess I enjoy the game as well. I like trying to calculate/analyze things, though most of the calculations/analyzations have been done by this point. So I'm mainly hanging about to talk with a few people.

I used to come for the smash topics... then I migrated to the non-smash topics. Then my Wii and Brawl disc died. Now I find myself missing Brawl really badly so I cling to it by coming to SWF. One day I will replace my Wii and Brawl. Until then, watching vids of other people playing will have to do.

I'm still here because I enjoy both Brawl and Melee, and of course 64.

Also I know loads of people on the various boards.

I play in tournaments.

Also SWF is just a cool place to be.
