For a brief moment of on-topic extravaganza...
In my opinion the Super Smash Bros. series is like the Mario Kart series - there hasn't been a bad one and there never will be.
Happy 100th post to me.

(And yes, I did put that in because the topic is on new school vs old school

)
I love Smashboards. I joined just over a year ago and I only have 100 posts. For me, Smashboards is a community for the argument and debate of the various nuances of the Super Smash Bros. series. This site has become an important resource and, when I was first recommended here by a good friend, proved invaluable in stepping up my game to another level. The community here has always felt enthusiastic and excited for this game that we all share such an incredible interest in.
Don't people get it? Everyone in this forum is here because they love to play Super Smash Bros. and they want to talk about it with other people. All the arguments and "strife" (as dramatic as a forum could get

) are caused simply by differing opinions on this game. What is everyone's problem? Are people so wrapped up in the way they think the game should be looked at that they get into arguments with people about it? Is there some invisible force preventing everyone from agreeing to disagree? Are you going to let a few morons and trolls drive you over the deep end? And why are you being so serious over a video game in the first place? I am here to have fun, not get frustrated.
It really grinds my gears (Family Guy reference FTW) when I see people talk about the influx of noobs/scrubs. A new game is coming out for the series and it should be obvious to everyone that there will be a lot of people joining up. If they are misguided, show them a better way. If they are stubborn, don't get angry, get convincing.
There are always gonna be morons, there will always be trolls, there will always be conflict, yadayadayada. I feel like a frickin' priest here. It really makes me frustrated when I see people talking about how the community is falling apart. If you are weak enough not to keep up with change, then I would prefer you leave. I am here to participate, not to listen to a bunch of people complain about how they think things should be. If you don't like it, change it. Educate some people instead of yelling at them for being ignorant. Let casual and competitive opinion co-exist. Take in the new ideas of the new-school while preserving the style of the old-school.
One thing that really kills me is when all the "vets" move to a new forum to escape the changes. That is like sitting somewhere until it is completely polluted with waste, then moving somewhere else. Why bother cleaning up when you can just move on, right? Personally, I would never abandon such an awesome community like this one that easily. I'd clean it all up myself if I had two, just to see it shine like we all know it can.
That's about all I have to say I suppose. For me, this forum is less about the Super Smash Bros. series than it is about the people I get to interact with and share my opinions and ideas with. Super Smash Bros. games are always at their best in multiplayer, anyway. I'm not the first person to say something like this and I won't be the last. Do me a favor and don't leave the community hanging.
EDIT: And I quote:
This is a perfect example of the kind of additude I expect from this community. And I found your post before I saw your praise down there Demon.
