strangly the spring things. i trick so many people with them. and bumbers are amazing. jump into a spring bouce sideways and falcon punch. owned.
worst i would say is hammers... i mean easy to avoid on most stages (edgehog)

on topic, my favorite is probably smart bombs because i only use items when playing for fun online and nobody online knows how to smash DI. it's fun shooting through an explosion.
and there's a stock time limit as well...lolEven though Brawl is life, you still only have one stock.

I like fans. Every time I trap someone with it, I'm always wondering, "Don'tcha love items?" Besides, I know how to DI out of it. I also like Smart Bombs. Everyone gets so scared of you when you hold one. I can just slowly walk up to someone and they roll all the way to the edge. It's funny! It's not that bad, and DI-able.
I hate Dragoon. It's the most overpowered item. Srsly, you get killed, they wait for you while standing right next to the 3rd piece. I jump off the recovery platform, then they pick it up and friggin kill me a 2nd time. 2 stocks lost in 5 seconds. Uggghhh. Smash Ball sux too. I CAN NEVER BREAK IT. I when I get it, I'm pressing B, and I use my Standard B. -_- Then I get hit by some measly jab and I DROP IT. Other people can break it with one aerial or something. Then I can combo the heck out of them, and they'll still hold on to it. I haaaaaate Smash Balls. And they hate me too. Although it's satisfying to kill some idiot that's mindlessly going after it.

The problem with the items in Brawl is that they got too cheap. I hate the following: Cracker Launcher, Pitfall, Hothead, Soccer Ball, and that annoying Stopwatch!

I haven't used items in so long I forgot about a good quarter of them until reading this thread. Anyways my least favorite is the smashball all because with it in the battle often times that item decides the match rather than the skill of the fighter that won.
My favorite.....hmm not sure. I guess I'd have to say the star rod. It's awsome to abuse your opponent with stars and then once your out throw the rod at the opponent and knock him/her/it off the stage.
The assist trophies I have mixed opinions about. It's annoying when you get the screen distraction ones like Mr. Rosetti, Nintendogs and that dancing devil but hillarious when you get Waluigi or Samurai Gorah. One match my opponent got a Waluigi on The Bridge of Eldin. The Waluigi stuck me in the ground and was kicking my Diddy in the face constantly while Sonic was on the other side double teaming with jabs.

I like the slow motion clock. THE funnest experience in Brawl is being the slo-mo person, and down spiking someone who is moving in real time. Amazing.

but sometimes you just want do have some fun with items...
we disable the following items:
tomato, heart, dragoon, bat, fan, sword, cracker launcher, ray gun, curry, hammer, golden hammer, clock, deko nut, frankling badge, screw attack
out of the rest i like:
Super Mushroom
Bob Omb
Gooey Bomb
Pitfall
motion sencor bomb (one of my friends really NEVER sees it xDDD )
i dislike
bunny hood
smash ball (look at my main -.-)
(nearly all of the disabled items)
but sometimes you just want do have some fun with items...
