I might've went, but I'm lazy and there's a big ocean in between me and Genesis (plus I can't get away from work, which sucks).

Good luck to all Sheiks going to Genesis. Go kick butt for the rest of us that couldn't make it.

armada sheik is very good but he didn't use sheik only. He went metaknight vs fly amanita (ice climbers) and then went ice climbers vs utd zack (g&w). He only went sheik vs focus (snake) and bardull (marth). I didn't get to see his first match cause I was running the tournament.

Still, his sheik is very smart and gets a lot of grabs. I played him in friendlies and it was fun. No tilt lock though haha.

Best sheik in the world? Hard to say. Definitely top 3 for sure. He reads everything so well. He can't do DACUS though. I would say he's the best with sheik if he didn't lose to bardull 2-0. That can be because Bardull played me in tourney before (both live in socal) so he knows the match up.

when i asked armada why he went mk/ics he pretty must says:

"if you're going to play a gay char. then i'm going to gay u back"

i laughed when he said that haha

i saw light play peach vs one of his matches. I dunno what other char. he used at genesis

I said top 3 because sheik mains haven't really been to the same tourney yet. Can't claim some1 to be the best until u see them all. Neo and Ryoko are said to be too good so we shall see. I know Armada and I are around the same level. He grab a lot more than I do though. I usually use running attack instead of grab due to using fox's meta game.

haha, sorry to disappoint, guys. i had a tough pool

Z - pikachu
fly_amanita - ic's

i didn't really have good counter picks against sheik's worst matchups, so i ended up going ic ditto/snake against fly, and zelda against Z.

ripple - DK

this is where i probably deserved to not get out of pools. sheik should win this matchup, but i still lost. he did a lot of things i have never faced before with DK, like great spacing and he broke my shield with side-B. i think that shows my inexperience

i have a long way to go :)

(i also need to get counter picks to cover sheik's weaknesses. cg's are brutal. i didn't know pikachu could go to 90 and usmash)

ics and pikachu =(

so wack man. Sheik's worst match up in the bag of one.

DK though... u shouldve gimp him. Also, when they side b ur shield u should always side step or jump instantly. It will stop shield from breaking. I know this cause I paly jmex all the time.

you better be placing top 20 at every major tourney you enter charoo.

also NEO is a marth main, Light is an MK main, Ryoko doesn't play.

Armada is the best placing sheik right now period.

ok I will. I didn't went to genesis to play well. I went to run the tournament with Neal and DBR so I didn't play smash at all =(

I know it's an excuse but any1 can tell u that I was at the front desk the whole 3 days and didn't play at all. Don't worry I got this next time

edit: put a pic up of Armada

Armada and his brother Aniolas (he plays sheik in melee so that conuts too haha)

the dthrow cg? i think if pika buffers it its guaranteed

he needs some good timing to not get footstooled, but yea

if u dont have a jump u won't get out... even if u do have a jump, if u dont footstool him u will still get grabbed

i think thats how it goes... the other sheiks probably know better

i really dont test much, i think it holds me back. i usually just play intuitive which is why ive been using snake/mk more lately

but dont worry, sheik is still the center of my heart :)

pikachu down throw works to 104% according to their thread. You have to buffer it to work though. What I do with fox, if I do have to fight pikachu is that you buffer your jab in. So if you do it right, you MIGHT jab them before they grab you. Only works if they don't buffer.

...I don't understand.

So you recover highish so your opponent has to use their second jump and then you tether to the ledge...

Doesn't that mean you go more or less right though your opponent to the ledge or like right below them?

No, here is what he is saying.

If you find you have an aggressive opponent (one who, rather then waits at the ledge for you to come nearer, goes out and chases you) save your second jump and float just outside of his reach.

When you see him go towards the stage, follow him, second jump, then chain the ledge to edgeguard them.

It only really works on people who like to chase + recovery is semi-crap.

Meaning it shouldn't be working on Wolf/Falco/Fox because (from my experience) they rarely chase you off stage, but if they did chase you it should work.

However some G&W's like to try to gimp you with sourspot fairs or dairs, so you could try to avoid that then tetherhog them.

Marth's like to go for fair/bair KO's or spikes. So you can do the same to him.

This could work against Falco's who love going for the uair KO, the knee of epicness, or the spike. Same with Ganon's who want to hit you with the tipman or spike you.

It's rather smart, but really risky. If your opponent sweetspots the ledge as/before you chain you may have just screwed yourself. It also depends what type of opponent you have.... they have to be aggressive rather then patient.

I did this to a Marth player during a tourney only ONCE. Don't expect this to work too many times or else you will just screw yourself over.

Common(sense) knowledge.

If your only option is waiting so you don't get hit; wait. sheik easily has one of the best double jumps in the game, if you save it you can really recover from anywhere that isn't true for the greater majority of the cast. meta and jiggs are the only characters that can chase and wait her out off stage. (kirby can't, lol)

common sense yes but how many people have actually use this before on purpose or plan to do it?

I didn't until this past tourney. Yes it's risky but it's also really good. It can take a full stock off ur opponent right away. That's very critical in tournament. It's going to work once or twice max on each person, but that's all u need to win the match.

Use it when they just double jump or use their last jump to make sure. People usually doesn't react fast enough after they just commit themselves to doing something.

just cuz u can **** fox with ftilt doesnt mean fox will get *****

he has al ot of things that can combo sheik as well, like easy mode low % drill/utilt stuff

its not THAT easy to get him into the tilt lock

but once u do its ez mode

IMO its slight disadvantage, not huge. fox is obviously going to try to avoid the ftilt, which he is good enough to do
