1. Introduction
Hello, this is Kashakunaki (and Ronike when he gets lazy...), and I am the new manager of the Smash Cards game. However, credit to creation and concept for the game goes to Clace. I, along with a few others, merely helped construct it and set it into motion.
Simply put, this is a card game made by the community, played by the community. Following certain guidelines (and with approval) people make cards that are put into the card shop using the
Yu-Gi-Oh Card Maker. Yes the game is based around Yu-Gi-Oh as it is the simpliest format for us to use (and a well known one).
Basically you receive a daily amount of Smash Card Vouchers (also known as SCV's). With these vouchers you purchase cards from the card shop, construct a deck, and duel against other players for fun, to be the best, or for vouchers. Really it's just a game you can have fun with or be serious with, your choice.
Below will tell you how to play the game, the rules of the game, and even how to make cards if you want. It also contains jobs you may apply for for extra SCV's and the leaderboard as well as the cardshop.
Enjoy!
2. Rules
Okay, here we have the rules of the road:
Smash Cards Rules
This is how the game is to, ideally, be played. Sure there will be technicalities and differing opinions, but here is our Smash Cards manual. I don't care what some other site says about a rule, we are playing by the rules under the above URL. If there is something not stated in there or a technicality, that is up to the players dueling one another to come to a conclusion on. Hopefully this way we can keep silly arguements to a minimum.
A. How to Play
Alright, here I'll teach you and give an example of how to execute a duel. At first it might seem difficult, but really it is quite simple.
Note: For every match you win, you will gain 200 SCV's. For every match you lose, you will gain 100 SCV's. If you do a 2 vs 2 match, those amounts are doubled.
First, you need to challenge someone. Who are you gonna play without a challenger? Once two people have decided they want to duel, you must pick your method of communication. The most famous is over MSN, but instant messaging programs are the easiest to duel over in general, so you can use that or PM one another. I recommend getting MSN to duel if you don't have it already:
MSN Messenger (Just Click "Get it Free")
After you've said hi and made buddy buddy or whatever, ask how many cards the other person has in their deck and "shuffle" their deck in the List Randomizer at random.org (I'll go into depth with that in the "How to Get Started" section).
Once that is done, tell the person their first five cards (for every card a person has, a number should be assigned to it) and decide who goes first. I like to flip a coin.
Then let the duel commence like a normal duel from then on out. Make sure when you end your turn you tell the person their next card!
Also, it is
extremely recommended you (or at least one of you) record what has happened on the battlefield. I used to use paper and a pad but now I use Microsoft Word (as do most people). This makes things much less complicated while dueling.
For example:
John: I have 33 cards
Jim: I have 25
*They then input 1-25 and 1-33, respectively, into the list randomizer and mix up the order*
John: Your first five cards are 3, 18, 5, 22, and 1
Jim: Your first five cards are 4, 33, 18, 12, and 20
*Now you decide who goes first*
John: You can go ahead and go first, draw 25
*Now Jim would execute his turn as though he was playing a normal Yu-Gi-Oh card game, according to the rules in the aforementioned link. Once he is finished with all his phases, he will end his turn*
Jim: Alright, I end my turn. Draw 25.
Hopefully your duels won't be as boring as that. Also, one pet peve of mine, once you have said, or say something similar to/with the same effect as, "I end my turn" that's it. No take backs. That might just be me, though.
Have fun!

To join just make a post saying something along the lines of "I would like to join" and also be sure to include one of the four options listed above.
What You Need to Duel
1. In order to duel you will need a pad of paper, Microsoft Word, Notepad, or some sort of program or writing material to keep track of what happens during the duel.
2. A form of communication
3.
List Randomizer to "shuffle" your opponent's deck.
The List Randomizer is a type of program that allows you to enter an amount of items. Then you can randomize your "list" of items. In this way you sort of "shuffle" your opponent's deck. Please use this to determine your opponent's card order.
When You Win a Duel
Just post in the thread who won the duel against who (and be honest now, no one likes a cheater) and the following actions will take place:
1. Winner will receive 200 SCV's
2. Loser will receive 100 SCV's
3. Win:Lose ratios will be adjusted accordingly as will the leadersboard.
To Buy More Cards
Try to keep it nice and neat when you do, not too much to ask. Simply make a posting saying what you are selling (if anything), what you are buying and how much it is and how many of it you are buying, and how many SCV's you had to begin with and how many you have left. You
don't have to do that, but it would be appreciated.
Once your cards have been purchased, I will add them to your leaderboard section as soon as I can.
Note: Cards sold are sold at half the original price.
Once a Day
Once a day I will:
1. Pay everyone who has done their job (jobs are explained in more detail below in the "Jobs" section).
2. Give everyone a daily 300 SCV's daily allotment (this stacks with job salaries).
3. Update the leaders section and leadersboard with the person with the best win:lose ratio at the top and the worst ratio at the bottom.
3. How to Make SCV's
There is several different ways a player can make Smash Card Vouchers (SCV's) in the Smash Cards universe. You should never really find yourself in a drought of SCV's. Ways to earn SCV's are as follows:
Battling
Straight up pwning the crap out of people tends to be the best way to earn SCV's. When you win a one on one duel you will gain 200 SCV's and when you lose a one on one duel you will gain 100 SCV's. If you do a team battle, the amount of SCV's will be doubled.
Waiting
Once a day (times may vary) I will allocate 300 SCV's to everyone's leaderboards profile. My time here is -7 GMST Mountain Time for those of you who are curious, and as it is summer, I usually stay up to 1:30 AM every night. If it seems like I forgot to give you your daily SCV's, just be patient.
Jobs
You may earn an extra amount of SCV's daily by working one of the jobs listed below in the "Jobs" section. This salary stacks with your daily allocation of 300 SCV's.
Misc
I may or may not end up awarding some amounts of SCV's for good cards, series of cards, or what have you. I might also hold lotteries, tournament, or other fun activities to spicen up the pot and game in general. We'll just have to see! I am open to ideas.
4. JOBS
Cardmaster: Cardmaster has authority of all measly cards submitted in this thread to be added to the cardshop! Bwahahaha! No, really, cardmaster must take any cards (unless horribly crappy) and organize them in a neat order and PM them to me so that I may add them to the cardshop easily. It will be up to the cardmaster and myself to determine if a card makes the cut of cardshop or not. If the cardmaster pleases me, I might promote ^_^.
Cardmaster: Available
Salary: 400 SCV's a day
Card Shop Cashier: Doesn't that have a nice ring to it? Eh, it might just be me. Regardless, the job of the Card Shop Cashier is to PM me, in a nice manner, a list of people who have bought or sold something and what they have bought, how many SCV's they have left, and/or what they sold. If the Card Shop Cashier does good on his/her part, I may feel the need to promote... may
.
Card Shop Cashier: Ronike
Salary: 400 SCV's a day
Battle Manager: Battle Manager... lol. I wanted to make some sort of Zoids reference here, but I failed miserably. Help? Oh well, on to business. The Battle Manager's duty is to PM when someone reports a win or lose in the Smash Cards thread. He/she is to PM the new Win:Lose ratio of both the winner and loser and their updated amount of SCV's. Does that make sense? Again, promotion, blah blah blah. Not a hard job to do... I think.
Battale Manager: Dr. Twist
Salary: 200 SCV's a day
Note: If you can think of any other jobs that would make this thread easier to manage, please feel free to tell me. On that note, if you feel anything needs to be revised or what have you, speak up. This isn't the communist nation. I like critism... constructive... critism.
Note #2: I have the right to fire you from your position, add to your salary, or to deduct from your salary as I see fit. Also, you are not entitled to be paid every day. What this means is if you fail to do your job, I do not have to pay you, and if you couldn't do your job (no one posted new cards, so the cardmaster had nothing to do) I do not have to pay you. If you have to take a leave for an elongated amount of time, please notify me so I may have someone substitute for you.
5. Card Creation
Okay everyone, this is what we use to make our cards for the game:
Yu-Gi-Oh Card Maker
Anyone can make cards! When you make a card, just fill out all the forms that apply and hit "Generate" to generate a preview of your card. Then right click the card, go to properties, and copy the URL. This is what you will give us when presenting your card.
It will be up to the Cardmaster and myself to determine whether or not a card makes the cut or not, though.
Criteria For Cards
1. Seeing as how this is Smash Cards, keep it to either first party games or third party games that have a decent chance of appearing in Brawl.
2. Please use proper grammar and spelling. I can't stress this enough. Wording of cards in card games is what leads to technicalities. Wording is very important. Make sure it is clear.
3. In general just of good quality and taste.
4. Try to make cards with a common theme.
5. Have fun.
6. Card Shop
This section is often referred to during duels to check the stats, effects, and wording of cards. This will more than likely be your most visited section. This is also where you can check the price of cards for when you want to purchase new ones.
