I got 3rd in a wifi tourney that had some pretty good players in it.

1:40:10 vs Dude (Shulk)
(1st match gets kinda laggy so feel free to sort if skip around as you wish)

2:30:00 vs Lancelot (Luigi/Robin)

2:47:00 WFs vs Dath (Robin)

3:34:40 LFs vs Hisoka (Mario)

Any feedback from anyone willing to watch would be appreciated, particularly for the final sets.

Anyone have any vids of high level wario play in doubles ? I feel like I'm failing to understand my role in dubs and I think watching a quality wario play in dubs will help me a lot.

Stock tank/throw set ups. Camp waft, mixing in small bursts of offense here and there.

Got 4th out of 104 entrants at Versus this week. Some notable players in the scene were not in attendance, but oh well. I felt like my neutral had improved a lot since my last visit and I guess this sort of shows that. Made it all the way to losers semis and got double eliminated by 8bitman

Vs True Blue (Sonic) -4:35:50 Losers Quarters

Vs 8bitman (Rob) -4:44:40 Losers Semis

Me playing against JJROCKETS, Chicago's 3rd best Diddy Kong. I've only been playing Wario for a couple of weeks (picked him up after getting tired of people saying he's painfully underrepped in America), but I'm decently happy with how I played, though I definitely made some mistakes like chomping the bike too much.

@ LordFreezyPops42 LordFreezyPops42 Dudeeeeeeeeeee, you were really awesome against Sonic butttttttttttt against Rob you tried to play the same way over and over and you keep approaching rob the same way, if that didn't work you need to change your playstyle constantly, otherwise your opponent will keep reading you.

Alrighty, thanks for criticism! I generally feel really insecure in that specific MU still, but I'll try my best to adapt better and do a better job at approaching next time. 8bitman is really damn good, but I know I can do better.

vs. Mario Game 2 only, should link right to it.

vs. Mario Loser's finals, games 3 through 5.

vs. Kirby and Fox Grand finals, second set games 4 and 5.

Thanks for any feedback you can give me, I'd really appreciate your input!

Hi guys, I guess I didn't explicitly ask for a critique, can I get a critique on some of these? I'd really appreciate it;

One of the main TOs at a weekly tourney I go to got a capture card, so some of my videos may start showing up.

Bronze Match - Ignis :4robinm: vs Me :4wario2:

7:57 :c
13:25 :smirk:

Overall I'm happy with how I played as I was trying out using half-waft more often, however obvious points to improve in how I play against Robin and in general.
  • Avoid grabs at 95%-115% range
  • Don't ride in with bike in neutral - bad habit, especially turning the bike on stage
  • I smash attack too much on accident
  • I probably shouldn't run off on stage so often
Ledge recovery alternatives? Techs I'm not utilizing? Opinions are always appreciated :)

I'd say just as a general tip, don't leave you bike onstage unless you have a plan for it. A couple times you just kind of took it out and then it was bye bye recovery for you.

You're respecting Robin's Arcfire too much and not respecting his aerials enough. There were several instances from his Arc Fire where you could have descended with a bite instead of pulling back, but you seemed to have gotten the rhythm of him by the end.

Your approach should be using a lot more dash attacks and dash grabs to interrupt the pattern of his aerials. Robins like shorthop fair, but it's not as safe as they think it is. Also, this is huge, you are recovering all wrong.

https://youtu.be/j9eFE0lOo-Y?t=394

Here's one example of it. Jump first, then activate the bike, don't charge at him at a height where he can catch you, your goal is to make it onto the stage as safely as possible, but instead you're giving him a huge opportunity to stuff you. Also, when Robin is directly behind you, DON'T uptilt, nair instead. Actually, nair instead of uptilt when anyone is behind you, uptilting is for ledges, platforms, and overhead opponents, not for ground to ground attacks. You also have a strange habit of ftilting people from up close when you should be grabbing from that proximity, and tbh, you aren't grabbing enough in general. There are moments where you're punishing short hop fairs with a dtilt when you should be running up and grabbing him.

When you want to avoid Robin's checkmate, DI to the direction Robin is facing, JUMP, and airdodge at the same time. Speaking of his uair, NEVER challenge Robin from above. I saw you do that with Wario's nair of all moves, but ya, make sure you're never directly above him unless he's off stage. With your DI and Bike this shouldn't a problem to accomplish. Case and point: https://youtu.be/j9eFE0lOo-Y?t=923

Lastly, try and eat Robin's books when you know he's going to throw it at you. Takes it out of play and gives you 1% health. Also makes Robin's more hesitant to throw it at you in the future.

This is a match up I play more than any other, and believe me when I tell you it's not a disadvantage for us. We can gimp Robin with fart. We can punish his aerials on block. We can get in on Robin. We just can't challenge his aerials or approach with Bike. These are your most important lessons, take them to heart, play a lot more carefully, and you can win this.

13th at Versus this week. Lost to MVD to round 4 and met 8bitman early on into losers. I thought I had a relatively fine showing with my streamed matches.

Vs. Sgt.Pepper (Rosa) 44:10

(Please excuse my little blunder first match :c)

Vs. MVD (Diddy) 1:41:40

Recent match i played . Wanted to share it so some of you could see how approaching with sh airdodge and full hop airdodge can actually be good in MU with characters who have big hit boxes.

I'd like some feedback on my Wario. I haven't really gone to many tourneys (though I'm planning to this Saturday) so all I have are a few For Glory matches.

:4wario:vs:4myfriends:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgXIWQhqHe8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMrTn6ep3U8

Ike is a character I seem to have trouble with no matter which character I choose (this guy even said "UR TRASH" when he first beat me). I do ok-ish in these matches but I feel there's room for improvement.

:4wario2:vs:4ness:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMtNg8MZeww
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOLxXSf1nq0

I usually don't have too much trouble with Ness, though for some reason I just played terribly in the first match especially starting from 2:06 (if it wasn't for that lucky ending I definitely would have lost). I do play better in the second match though (not the same Ness though).

[Note that these are from patch 1.1.0]

Well Ike is one of the hardest characters to beat for Wario. I think you did rather well. If you ask me that Ike did throw out way too many smash attacks (do to their laginess you can punish it kinda easily). You could have gone for off stage waft when he was recovering low.

And Ness which does not spam PK Fire in FG? I'm pretty sure you fought against dedicated Ness main. But dunno how you could improve yourself in that MU. Maybe go for recovery interruption? It is risky yeah, but with good timing you can do it.

Consistency is why I really wish customs were legal.

The Quick Waft and Rose Waft still kill well, but the former charges so quickly it doesn't matter much if it whiffs, while you have to practically try to miss with the latter, and it also charges faster.

This isn't a battle, but a video I put a lot of work into, analysing all of Wario's moves. And actually... I have a lot more respect for the character now than I had before I started on the research. If my points in this video are true, then he seem to have a lot more representation from his games than I thought. Hope you like it :)

If Wario is used ideally in a competitive environment, I believe he would be used exactly as Abadango use(s/d) him, as a character he trained solely to counter certain match-ups. Not necessarily a secondary, and not as a solo main (not saying either of these are not possible, just not as easy as the other characters ranked at Wario's typical tier ranking).

Zero doesn't realize Abadango used Wario for the match-ups Pac-man outright loses to (Rosa, sheik). Yes, Abadango got top 5 at Evo, but I'll bet money he didn't play Wario throughout pools, because camping with Pac would yield consistent results, whereas he could get cheezed playing as Wario. Wario eventually has to approach, Pacman doesn't...ever.

Having to worry about waft set-ups for every single one of the weight/falling types in the game can be overwhelming. I think about every day whether I should strive for the consistent neutral game Wario has (which realistically could just be camping and selecting stages that allow you to camp/edge-guard/not die early the best) or playing creatively and aggressively for each match-up.

I think Wario's niche of consistency (if he even has one) is somewhat unknown, but I don't think I can agree with customs. My friend plays little mac and the windbox's on customs absolutely invalidate mac.
