how do you deal with DDD's bair?

You can count his jumps then shield grab it. You can try to double jump above it. You can clap under it. You can airdodge+double jump through it (if youre feeling risky) or you can throw bike/tires at it (even though it will most likely just cancel out with the tires)

Fair is actually useful in this matchup for me. All you need to do is jump close to ddd wait for the bair to end and punish with a retreating fair. Bair has a small window in which you can punish.

From what I've seen fair is one of the easiest punishers to pull off on a bair wall. Your timing has to be tight though because ddd's bair is a sex kick with hardly any lag even when landing on the ground.

I've lost to every single one I've played in like the past 6 months.
I've lost all of my tournaments to at least one MK.
And I can never even get close to beating them.
Not even the extremely terrible ones.
I've read through the MK discussions.
I've watched a lot of vids.
I've asked a lot of questions.
But none of it is working.
I still can't beat it.
Ever.

So now I'm asking more questions. How do you win?

Just play really carefully, don't spam aerials because his sword WILL win on priority. Try to punish all his B Moves (Nado with Grab/Ftilt, UpB with fart/Uair/Dair/Nair, Side B with grab on his landing lag (on stage), try not to spam FSmash while they are on killing % because they are powershielding it and punishing you HARD.

Grounded approaches are VERY underrated on this matchup, make sure to attempt some dashshield > grabs on his Fairs and FTilts/DTilts, don't try to grab after shield a FSmash just poke him with an OoS Fair, shielding the DSmash will allow you to OoS almost everything like grab (during the shielpush), Dair OoS, Fair OoS and Nair OoS (risky).

Bait his UpB/Dair/Airdodge when he is jumping for a fart and kill him at 65%. If the Mk players gets used to your kill moves (FSmash/Uair/FTilt) just camp the MK and go for a fart it's the only safe option on this **** matchup son.

I am by no means an expert Wario, being from Denmark and everything. I do occasionaly use him when MK CP's my Snake to some moving stage like RC or Delfino, so i've learned a little :3.

I think powershielding alot is really key against MK. It's like the only thing that safely allows you to punish anything in the matchup. I do it quite alot in this match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv6xAEYcMIo. (Also: critique my Wario ) - match starts like 30 seconds into the vid.

If he grabs you, don't make any jump-input, since he can do bad things to you if you air-release. The match i linked is a pretty good example, although i'm sure there are worse things than eating a shuttle loop. Also, don't dash attack like i did ;d

Besides that, an occasional ftilt can catch MK offguard, aslong as you don't get predictable with it. Use dair for punishing tornado if possible, and if he is above you, try timing an uair between his dairs. But yeah, this is a bad matchup. If you're not significantly better than your opponent you will most likely lose.

Good powershielding breaks Wario... makes him capable of punishing almost everything with waft.

The future of the Wario metagame will be centered around PS > grab 4 or 5 times, then PS > fart. :D

Question: How do you guys apply the waft? I always find myself guessing when using it, and failing most of the time. Most good players rarely use attacks with enough lag for waft-punishment.

I've been thinking about the MK matchup considerably. So far what I've got is this:

PLAY PERFECTLY
run away mostly, be really careful
wait for opportunities to hit him out of nado or if you powershield something or if you get a lucky grab
get him up to 70 percent
a waft will kill him anywhere on the stage at this percent
wait for nado or powershield something and fart him
repeat 3 times. if you miss a fart literally run away till your next one charges

metaknight should never kill you until 160+. I played against tyrant the other day and most of my stocks were up to about 180.

Like... basically I've said Wario at optimal play would revolve around this. Just camp for farts to kill while staying alive and you will win.

Well, nothing much more to add toFiction's and PX's statement. Fart is ALWAYS the best option on this matchup. You are only landing another kill option if the MK messes up on spacing or in a laggy and vulnerable move so do not rely on those options too much.

You can fsmash MK out of some powershielded things as well. You can get him after the back/front hit of dsmash, and after nair, and can fsamsh him out of tornado if he tries that. You can upair/waft after a powershielded dair, and waft him during his dair swinging animation if you're on the side that it starts on and MK whiffs. That's all the tricks I can think of atm.
