Most players will SDI from grab-release, so it's not very safe to do against Meta Knight or Diddy Kong from a grab-release unless you're a specific distance from the edge to throw them off or have a wall to prevent movement. You can also use it to punish from far away, if Diddy is getting too comfortable with banana pulls or they airdodge to the ground, because they have no time to SDI if only the last part hits.

Wario gets a pretty solid distance from it, though. I figured since characters tend to shield Wario's initial poke or just throw out a safe aerial (if they're good in the air, like ZSS or Dedede), getting close and doing a DACUS to go straight through them could give us another nice option for running away, just because of it's sheer speed and the number of things that the opponent has to already watch out for.

As far as tap jump goes, what is it that troubles you with Wario? I've always used tap jump on, so it's never been a problem for me.
It mostly has to do with double jumping from the ground, which gets me into traps that are easily avoided. Also, I didn't realize you were from Alabama, Reflex XD

I assume that happens from trying to do U-Airs without the C-Stick? If so, you're better off getting used to using the C-Stick for your aerials to prevent that from happen.

I'm super-east Alabama, so it may as well be be Georgia, but, yeah. The more you know. :)

The only reason I have considered playing with tap jump off for Wario is so that I don't accidentally waste a DJ when SDIing upwards. Besides that, not much need IMO to play with it off.

Wario can be a great partner if he's teaming with a player that knows how to make it work. Wario can cover your back really well with his great air speed, combo-ing your opponents out of your hits and punishing those who attack you. I've found that Wario is really great when teaming with a D3, Snake or MK. Those characters complement Wario well and work with his style. Pit..... not so sure. I don't have much experience with the guy, but based on what I've said maybe you can determine it :)

well wario is a heavy weight and pit stock tanking with his planking off the edge with arrows and uair make for a team that does not die. also because of the arrows off the edge hitting the enemies wario with his high priority and mobility can do serious damage as a 2v1 because his back is always covered. this is even more so when the pit is an arrow specialist (im not bragging but that's what im known for on the pit boards so that's why im so confindent in it).

also u have the fact that neither player has to worry about the other recovering as these are both in the top 5 for best recoveries off stage. also pit's arrows give wario infinite up b and pit's dair sends people up.

the kill set ups between these 2 is incredible. wario has a vast repetoir of killing power with waft, fsmash, uair and pit's throws and various other moves like arrow, jab and WOI only help this. also wario can set up pit's over powered back air with his good throws.

one more thing that i know thanks to playing warios a decent amount is that pit is broken with a tire tho not to the extent that wario is. so between the 2 who knows what could go down when they each have a tire. and don't forget pit can shoot arrows while holding a tire.

so that's what i know but was too tired to type. please keep discussing this tho as i need all the input i can get for this and thank u wario boards :)

You can tilt with smashes on the Cstick. Not for ftilt though.

I sometimes hold down and then Cstick down to get a dtilt or more so for uptilt if im not feeling comfortable using the analog stick + A.

one more advantage is for tsticking that the buffered reversed dtilt is very easy to handle^^

No kidding haha. Honestly though, I like sticking to vanilla controls. Then you can just make up a cool name whenever you want, and not have to go and change the controls (even turning tap jump off is annoying haha).

IMO Wario is more of a support character in doubles. His lack of range makes it a little bit tough to hold his own on the aggress, generally staying safe and being support is better in the long run. With his heavy weight he is a great stock tank, but having 2 stock tanks on one team seems a bit inefficient. It would be best to pair him with a damage dealer, since Wario is very mobile and can wait till an enemy is in Waft killing percent, then look for a safe opening to Waft (combo out of your teammate's hit, out of a grab, etc.).

I'm beginning to think that Wario is not the optimal partner for Pit, but in reality I'm sure it would be a great team ;) Just trying to think as efficiently as possible heh heh.

Oh and good luck with that infinite Wario upb xD

well you guys are lucky... I use Classic Controller Pro and the default settings are horrendous... so I spend like 5minutes every time just moving the controls about... I had to do it on a Japanese version of brawl once... mind****ed me like crazy.

I need R set to Attack, or I can't DACUS. :(

How does attack contribute to dacus?
It has something to do with the button positioning. The fact that I have to push it further down may help my timing, but I think it's just the fact that it's so close to the front of the controller. 's just weird to me. Small button is difficult to time correctly for me. :/

I guess that answers part of my question.

What I was mainly asking was how does the A button, or in your case R, contribute to dacus.

Dacus being Dashattack cancel up smash and the input i (and what i thought everyone else used being the only way possible) use is to Down C followed up + Z.

Never knew that attack ever contributed to dacus at all. any mechanics behind that?

Well, Z is traditionally "Grab," but in all the Smash games, the Grab command is literally just the equivalent of pressing Shield and Attack at the same time, which is why you shield if you hold Z, since holding Attack doesn't do anything by itself (with the exception of a few jabs, but it only continues jabbing if you start a jab in the first place).

Since you can't dash attack-canceled shield or dash attack-canceled grab (though you can dash attack canceled pivot grab; that's an exception because of the animation), the shield half of the Grab button doesn't do anything, and so you're just left with the Attack half, so it ends up being the same as pressing A (or, in my case, R).

Basically with R set to attack, you go forward + down c-stick, then up on the control stick and R to DACUS. Just easier for some people, doesn't make a difference for some. LOL @ Baron Mack, that would suck to have to configure that all in japanese haha!

that sounds so paradox
well the Classic Controller has a different ergonomic makeup to the Classic Controller Pro

the CCPro has a few things over the gamecube controller:

- 4 shoulder buttons so you can set L1 to jump , L2 to shield, R1 to grab, R2 to whatever(mine is set to special)

- the joysticks are more comfortable than the gamecube ones

- the shoulder buttons feel more responsive than the ones on Gamecube and easier to press(L and R on GC feel to me like it takes 5 minutes to push it all the way down)

- having L1 set to jump is fantastic because you have your thumb free for the Cstick and your right forefinger free for specials and the Z button.

Yeah my friend Thrillagorilla plays with a CCPro, and he totally loves it. He uses Z for jump I think, and it's easy to find a new CCPro. Whenever he would buy a GC controller, they would always suck ***.

55/45 in Wario's favor. You can go check out the Match up thread.

Buffered down throw chain grab is win. =O

Mmm...It's about even. I'm inclined to say 50-50; both characters have a lot of neat and useful tools on each other.

An even matchup if I ever saw one. With good prediction and reaction, you can avoid lasers and punish side Bs effectively. Falco's attacks have high priority, so you have to work around them and avoid challenging them head on. Becomes a dancing battle of wits and spacing, with the fart being the key to your victory.

Is there any chance that bite goes through phantasm? Or perhaps Shdair ( which seems safer to me)?
for some reason when you bite and your back is facing falco, people have said that you have a better chance of getting falco with the bite rather than facing in his direction.

The most "safe" way to punish is most likely nair.
