Um if it's nostalgia why isn't smash 64 so big?
It was succeeded by a game that Melee fans felt was better. Since Brawl was so different from Melee, it never really reached Melee's competitive popularity.

I have my own contribution to the stage conversation.

Don't have a large stage and a small stage in stage morph otherwise things get hectic during the morph.

"different" is a strong word. the term you're looking for is "absolutely busted and purposely designed to be anti-competitive"

Too many words. Not typing. If it weren't for Meta Knight basically dictating the Meta, I think Brawl would be more balanced than Melee. Both games are broken and unfinished as h*ck tho.

Melee is better competitively, Brawl is the best when it comes to solo modes and content, and both are REALLY fun casually.

It all depends on what you are looking for. While I prefer Melee, I can't deny that Brawl was ambitious and it really shows with its quality.

We clearly disagree on fundamentals so this will be my last response to you but you are completely incorrect. Meta knight was not the reason brawl was less competitive. There were MANY other things
-Slower run speeds
-almost no hitstun and airdodge was overpowered, meaning no combos at all
-defensive, campy play was rewarded a lot more
-chaingrabs and infinites were easier here than in melee
-almost no good stages
-t r i p p i n g

as well as many others
the statements you're making are not only very blanket, but you're showing how little you really know about these games competitive scenes

How many good stages did Melee have compared to Brawl?

I've been practicing Zelda online and almost no one has been going for best of 3s against me. They either quit after the first match or try to win the second one and leave. I even ran into another Zelda player and they didn't want to go for a third match. I guess that's what I get for playing a campy character online.

She's a good character for me. Aside from helping cover Mega Man and Young Link, who I personally view as Pokemon Trainer's worst match ups, she also forces me to play really patiently and watch my opponent's patterns. She also can't hold shield as freely, and I tend to over rely on shield, so she might help me break that habit. I'm definitely thinking I'm going to keep her as a secondary in the long term.

Also Zelda's red alt is her best alt. Prove me wrong.

It has an excuse to have less tournament legal stages because it has very little stages. brawl dosen't have that excuse.
He said Brawl had almost no stages as a comparison to Melee. The number of actual stages in each game is irrelevant.

Also, why are we still doing Melee vs. Brawl in 2019.
Because everyone in this topic is wrong except me.

Question: What kind of Spirts events would you want them to do?
Something Kid Icarus-ish, please. I'll be honest and say I'm still a bit bitter how there were literally 2 FE events already. If they do add a KI event, there should be new spirits introduced too, but at this point, an event themed around KI would satisfy me.
