They don't need a new one. They already have a huge set of results. As characters get in, that leaves more with higher results to be considered. Only one was ever needed. They already have an idea of who is popular. It doesn't mean they'll realize that them not being playable would cause a huge backlash, though. You can't always predict that.
Metroid and even Punch-Out has some notoriety over there. However, Dark Samus? Yeah, mostly American request, for sure.dont doubt the west

Actually, I think a new ballot would be a better idea. That ballot was how long ago? 4 years? A lot changed since then, now that a lot of the top picks got inserted into the game as either fighters or ATs, people want different characters to be in the game. If they made a new ballot, the top picks would be pretty different, since a lot of characters would be voted more because characters that were in their way due to bigger popularity are now gone. As well as new characters that got an increase in popularity nowadays, like Geno, who had quite a niche following back there, but is now one of the most requested characters ever.

I'm a 90s kid and I'm not particularly attached to either character...The 90s kids will be fine...eventually

I voted multiple times like quite a few people did. So seeing Dark Samus and Ridley out of that situation was pretty cool. I don't remember if I voted for Simon too or not. I almost didn't put a vote in for Ridley, but did anyway.
